Chris Bosh - Unbelievably Underrated Scorer

  • Chris Bosh. 2x NBA Champion. 11x NBA All-Star. All-NBA Second Team in 2007. Olympic Gold Medalist with Team USA in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. The 5th player to have their number retired by the Miami Heat (joining greats like Alonzo Mourning, Shaquille O’Neal, Tim Hardaway, and Michael Jordan (yes, that’s correct, and yes, that IS very weird). People never seemed to appreciate Bosh when they were in the Finals each of his first 4 years in Miami. It was only after LeBron had moved on and his third star (Kevin Love) struggled defensively that people started to really respect exactly what Bosh did. He was the punchline of many a joke, but he sort of made his defenders look like a joke every time he threw up a pump fake. No post game anymore they said? Ask Kevin Garnett the year after he played Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, and Lamar Odom for the second Finals in 3 years how little of a post game CB had. Ask Blake Griffin. Paul Millsap. DeAndre Jordan. Joakim Noah. Carlos Boozer. Kobe Bryant called Kendrick Perkins the best post defender in the game once upon a time, but he gave him fits too.
He was murder on the pick and roll. He could set a solid screen, then roll hard, or short roll to make a play, or pop out to that in between, or even extend out to shoot 3’s (something that wasn’t all THAT common back then). If either LeBron or Wade struggled, he stepped up. There was never a moment Chris wasn’t ready for.
Phenomenal footwork. Ambidextrous finisher. Sweet shooting. Unselfish with the rock. Willing defender. Chris is unbelievably underrated. He was a CAREER 19.2 points per game on 49.4% from the field and 79.9% from the line. To say nothing of his 8.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game, according to Basketball Reference, players with careers similar to quality and shape of were Otis Thorpe, Alex English, Elvin Hayes, LaMarcus Aldridge, Rasheed Wallace, Larry Nance, Dominique Wilkins, Buck Williams, Bobby Jones, and Horace Grant.
Of that group, only three players outscored Chris for their careers. Dominique at 24.8 points per game, Alex English at 21.5 ppg, and Elvin Hayes at 21.0. Of those three, only Elvin has won a championship (singular). Again, of that group, only Horace Grant has more rings (4), but he was a career 11.2 points per game. Another reasonable comp is a contemporary of Chris’: Pau Gasol. 2 NBA championships. Three straight finals in three seasons. A career 17.0 points per game.
Credit to Chris for not calling it quits because of a potentially career ending injury. He played his last game in 2016, but didn’t stop fighting for his dream to return to the court until 3 years after that.

With Bosh yes, but with k-love he just lost too much weight to be good in the post like he was in Minnesota.

AnonYmouSchris19 no be lost that weight because lebron wanted him to change his play style and he was always a defensive liability he has never had good lateral quickness

Chris bosh was the prototype. A PF that could be agile like a shooting guard and play great defense. I wished he could’ve finished his career but he won two chips off of his talent. He matters so much to todays game. Giannis should work with him

in his last few games you could see he couldnt hustle on defense anymore but around this moment in his career, when he was healthy - he moved his feet well and played alot of his games. the man was reliable. imagine comparing AD to Bosh? who would dare to say such a thing!

i mean they had halsem bosh for 2 years and no other bigs that could score with joel anthony playing huge minutes..turiaf played a small bit in 2012...bosh was the only player on the roster over 6'9 that played in playoff minutes for 2 years on the roster...and hes not even a full 6'10 without shoes so...thats why he wore down...

He stepped up big time in 2014 when wade was dealing with injuries and was a non factor but the heat had no true big men so he had to play center he’s one of the most skilled powe forwards ever

lebron will forever get the hate stain for costing the heat a three peat...they were the best team until june 2014 in the nba for 4 years....trust me...they were built to win..lebron being uncoachable is why they were beatable..he played iso ball which hurts the flow and he stat padded bosh was still a top 12 player in 2011 top 15 in 2012 and top 17 in 2013...he looked so bad cause of bron flat out making him a shooter for driving lanes..bosh in the post is deadly...hes kd size ...why have him shoot threes?....

He is a legit power forward with one of the best post games I have seen. Miami had an option to go small ball with him as an excellent stretch five that is good with 3s. Such a dynamic player and a good defender to boot.

i feel that the heat should've beaten the spurs in end of Lebron run. Only if they kept playing small but coaching staff wanted to run traditional lines and got smoked. like no one could guard both chris or lebron those two demanded a double team at all times.
