Thank you for consistently providing useful and practical information in a way that is so entertaining and easy to watch. I enjoyed seeing your lovely, cozy home. Have a blessed day.
Ohhhh I knew you were my people 😊 I have space heaters in every room.. too!! I think they are great. They knock the edge off the coolness in the rooms with minimal cost.
I love warming up my bathroom before taking a shower. It feels so luxurious and helps me avoid drying out my skin because I don't have to use super hot water to stay warm since the bathroom is warmed up. We don't turn on our central heating unless the interior temperature of our house is 60 or colder.
Thank youu!! This is VERY helpful. We live in an 820 sq ft home w/out central hvac. We’ve gone thru MANY space heaters. The one that’s lasted longest is the oil burning electric radiator I’ve had since 1984 lol.
@@wildbill23c This is good to know. Last year our pipes froze and burst so we will need to get a supplement unit this year. Thinking there might be a larger oil burning wall unit or something. Is that what are in old houses - those metal things you’d see along the floor board ?
An idea from Japan is a type of table with a heater that is covered with a quilt like cloth; people sit at the table with the quilt ends over their legs getting warm. Now, those heaters are electric and the quilts might include a space blanket like layer. The Japanese often cover windows with clear insultation for the winter. It looks like a kind of bubble wrap.
Thanks for these reviews. Our ceiling fan is good for pushing the warm air from the space heater down from the ceiling because warm air rises. It makes a major difference when the fan is on and when it's off. Your feet can end up cold if you don't have a fan to push down the warm air.
I noticed that it looks like its plugged into a power strip if it is that is so dangerous. My husband plugged our space heater into a power strip and melted the power strip and the plug in the wall as well as the wire in the wall. Very lucky our houses did not catch on fire. I only plug space heaters into a plug on the wall now.
Sorry. We didn't think about that causing confusion. We moved it there to show it next to the chair for the video. That's why it's on a power strip. When it's in place (where I showed in the video near the dining room) it's absolutely plugged directly into the wall.
@@UndertheMedianHello Larry hello Hope . As a Canadian we know you cannot have enough space heaters . May I suggest using bubble wrap to cover windows and it acts like an insulating layer . Makes single pane windows into double pane
You need to ASAP. Open up that wall outlet recipocal jack. The outlet looks fine but the wires connected to it can melt fry on inside. Think of grounding short in a vehicle👍
@@UndertheMedian I just wanted to make sure you knew. So many don't know about that, and they cause damage to the wiring. Good to know that it was just a temp placement :)
I understand it can be plugged into a surge protector. Thank you for this video. I live in a mobile home & use space heaters for additional warmth. I had a lot of questions!
Since there are two windows in the bedroom, the one near the bed could be closed off for the winter with a piece of plywood cut to fit. If the window faces the street, a blind pulled down or a frosted plastic sold to adhere to windows could be between the plywood and the glass to make the look acceptable from the street. Insulation could also be added. Everything could be removed and stored during the warm and hot seasons to be able to open the window and increase air movement.
Those heaters look great. We have one as a back-up if we need it. Have you considered starting a savings fund to get new windows for rooms that you really need them? We replaced all our windows about 20 years ago. It dropped our electric bill by at least 20%. It's great not to waste electricity or natural gas, because of leaky windows. Where we live, the A/C is used more than the heat.
I just got a Dreo radiant heater, its kind of like an old fashioned radiator, no fan. It is in my basement family room and so far it's kept the large room really nice and cozy and I've been checking my electric usage and so far it's not using very much electric at all. I also have a small space heater in our bedroom, my husband and I spend alot of time in there , we have recliners and a TV, so we figure why heat the whole house to 73 degrees when we are basically only in one room.
I have a Vornado Tower heater in my bathroom. The heat comes out at the perfect height to heat my cast iron tub. The rest of the room stays cool when it is super cold out, but that heat really helps.
Those heaters are very expensive and how are they on the electric bill? I don’t have any kind of other heat. Are they going to pay for themselves in a short amount of time?
These look great. I will check them out. I was hoping you were going to let us know how much more your electric bill is with these heaters. Have you had them long enough to see the extra cost on your electric bill? Thanks much for sharing. I liked the one you had on the wall in your bathroom.
We don't run them very long so the electric usage hasn't gone up that much. CNET has an extensive review of how to use space heaters in order to save money if you are interested.
How long are the cords for each one, I understand that portable heaters should plug directly into the wall receptacle, not an extension power strip, thanks
Great question! You are correct. Heaters need to be plugged directly into the wall. Wall heater cord = 5.5 feet Small space heater and the tower heater = just under 6 feet.
Can’t find DREO 2-in-1 Tower Fan & Heater MC706, seems to be fold out everywhere. Don’t see it on their website. Do you have a link to where it can be purchased and shipped to Canada?
Would the tower or the wall heater be an efficient choice to keep my home canned goods/in glass jars , from freezing, in my slinky insulated garage? Thanks for the review!! Never heard of Dreo.😊
I would hate to say. I don't know. Depends on the square footage and you don't want to use the heaters 24/7. I think that's a question for DREO customer service maybe?
I would like to be able to set a start time, be able to auto start & stop. 30 min before shower (same time every morning ) turn on and then shut down automatically.
I’m def wondering about that new super small heater they say heats a room up in 90 seconds and is very low E. Has anyone tried it yet? I wonder if it’s worth it or if I should believe all the hype or not. Currently I have about 4 of them. lol. I also am very pleased with the one I got at Ollie’s for $40. Made like a regular table fan. Quiet and oscillating.
@@goodenoughgirl8102 , Larry said it poorly. I think what he meant is that after 90 seconds the unit is putting out nice warm air-not that the entire room was warmed.
@@UndertheMedianThanks. Ha ha. I was referring to the one they keep pushing on YT that claims to heat up a good sized space 20 degrees in 90 seconds. Can’t for the life of me remember the brand tho. Lol. As per Google, looks like the “scam”‘part is that it’s some big new tech thing when really it’s just using conventional air flow methods. Lol. But at the end of the day, 1500 watts is still only 1500 watts.

Vent your dryer heat into the room instead of outside in the winter. It'll also put some humidity into the air making your skin feel better. Just reverse it in summer
