Two colors that turned out GREAT for me, was using the "Warm Caramel" for my base coat, & "Dark Walnut" with the gel stain. One of the 1st videos here on YT with those colors settled the decision for me, where he used several color combinations on sample boards.
I should have added, search a video by a profession who receives *THOUSANDS* of dollars for his contract work. He doesn't do simple garage doors, but work that is MUCH more involved, & primarily interior work if I'm not mistaken. Video title: "simple mahogany, Wood graining technique"...channel: "Ronald Layman". Colors are noted on that video.
The one in store I saw the review says for the stain it smells so I got water based but can you give your product names? @Healthy Wealthy and Wise with Rita Mohyi
also just a tip for any DIYers. if doing this in hot humid areas like in the southeast or florida i personally have found water based products last longer.
Hello. Can you tell the the exact color and paint brand you used for the base. I would think that its important that its a close match to replicate yours! Hoping you remember!!’
Are you SURE he was spraying "lacquer" for the final coat? He said he was going to use poly but then you said lacquer. Lacquer is not generally recognized as a reliable exterior finish. Please respond to this. We are doing the doors now and I already have the base coat of exterior paint on three 9' doors! I'd hate to get to the end of this process and ruin the job. Thank You.
Walk By Faith Well maybe that’s the point. I was googling "Flax outdoor paint". I didn’t know what the hell she was talking about. It didn’t even occur to me that she was trying to say faux. It’s hard to imagine so many people are that ignorant, but I’ve seen enough Trump voters on RUclips. I really should realize by now.
Nice effect using the most basic procedures on a large surface. (Watch out with your choice of words though....”lacquer” would instantly destroy good work already done.) Exterior Polyurethane
If your doors were AUTOMATIC with an OPENER (most all are anymore), the cheap, CHROME handles should have been replaced. Forgive me, but they CHEAPENED the look & KILLED it actually.
The Devil have children too they can’t help it jus ignore them they will Vanish GREAT GREAT GREAT JOB I will try and contact him if he’s close to my area are at least get some tips on my project THANKS EVER SO MUCH………L👀KS AWESOME 👏
Love it!! Would like to know the colors you used to paint and I am guessing the stain is mahogany..??
Absolutely beautiful!!! I'm planning on doing my ceiling this weekend. Thanks for the video and inspiration. Very talented artistry.
How have they held up, after this many years, please?
Would you happen to remember the brand and exact color name for the base coat? Would love to replicate this!

Richard I don't usually reply but you made me laugh. GOD BLESS YOU,
In my neighborhood they would probably steal the door before they found out they were faux. 😄

What did you use for the last step of the garage door. I am wondering if it should be lacquer or poly?
“So you can’t use a roller brush, right.” 😂🤣😂🤣
$ cost?
It looked fantastic.............until he used the electric paint sprayer..........
What is “flaux?” Don’t you mean faux, pronounced “foe” not flax.
As long as you knew what he or she was trying to say. Shut the F up and enjoy the ride....
Her priority is to make things look expensive. Don’t expect too much from those people.

Exterior Polyurethane
You are delirious if you think this door looks like Mahogany....
Lady, a roller is a roller and a brush is a brush. No such thing as a "roller brush" Just so you know.
wish he would have said bitch stop interupting me
Mahogany dents.
I wish she would let him talk. He is like a Bob Ross. Her interruptions are like nails on a chalk board. No offense.
So you don't fix the dents in the left door looks like complete azz!
If your doors were AUTOMATIC with an OPENER (most all are anymore), the cheap, CHROME handles should have been replaced. Forgive me, but they CHEAPENED the look & KILLED it actually.
flax painting lmao!!!

Foooohhhh painting not faucks
Roller brush classic
Doors are pieces of crap. Get new ones.
