*Two* *tunes* today! This album is my favorite of Dave Samuel’s solo material, I bought the album specifically for this song and a couple others after its debut. I also had his ’89 album ‘Ten Degrees North,’ which was also a nice listen. It took till recently for me to track down his more rare ’88 album ‘Living Colors’, which solved some mysteries! Of course I have enjoyed his work as a core member of *_Spyro Gyra_* ever since I first found out about them with their ‘Morning Dance’ LP in ’79. Those were some great days…. I bought every album Spyro dropped!! *RIP* Dave Samuels
This song is an incredible sleeper. Those in the know have this album. The ensemble (Samuels + Yellowjackets) was an unexpected collaboration, and it was brilliant.
Certainly adds a nice flavor, I also love having a touch of the Yellowjackets on this one with Russell Ferrante, William Kennedy, and Jimmy Haslip contributing to this album.
just today finding out he passed away back in the... spring. think of this track CONSTANTLY♡. #Yellowjackets ...really sad; this ruins my day. peace be upon you Dave Samuels.
What a shock, he just passed away yesterday! Wow, so many great musicians keep passing on. At least their music will continue to live on. Rest in peace.
@@Fire-Toolz this is kinda random, but have you heard Newtork Music Ensemble stuff? They did a lot of program music for the weather channel back in the 90s -00s. I was listening to their Weekend Fun album, today which has two of my favorites by them "local hero" and "chardonnay"
KJCMuzique woah, i’ve never been able to find their music! but i thought it was just “network music” so maybe that’s why i never found anything. ill have to look that up now that i have an album title to work with!
Dave Samuels - one of the greatest vibraphonists. RIP

this is such a FANTASTIC album. I get goose bumps every time I hear "Spring High"
Love those marimbas and vibes vibes vibes! These percussive instruments just give jazz fusion an exotic sound and feel. Delightful.

I see they got the Yellowjackets involved, sans saxophonist Marc Russo.
