You know, I figured out a few things: I'm watching this video as I go through my backlog of emails that I have of stuff that might be useful from a few subs (yours, some about anxiety, pain) and in the back of my mind I have all the things that have been in my backlog in the house (getting rid of a lot of stuff that doesn't get any use but clutters space and mind, repairs...) and I started watching this with a "clearing the backlog" mentality but I realised that I do collect all of this stuff, but when I relax into the talk I am giving myself a time to listen to things I'm genuinely interested in because of your presentation it almost feels like sitting with some like-minded people and there's a good effect just from that.
I also realised that, despite my inner critic, I already do some stuff "right". Usually at pick-up I just walk back with my son and ask him about his day, or if he doesn't want to share that then I'll just listen to what he wants to share about what he's going to do and draw. I think you're a bit a vehicle for this kind of reflection. I don't think I've commented before, but I just wanted to let you know that when you post this videos you give me a lot of perspective and there's this good thing for me to listen to that makes me feel a bit less lost (I might buy this book, I've actually started going through Calm the Chaos, which you also recommended, and it's given me a lot of hope).
And my biggest fear has been attacked too! I saw a Ted Talk with an exercise where the host was asking the audience to imagine their parents calling out of the blue and just listening to them and then asked to imagine how it would feel and proved that it's never too late. I found it shocking.
I think I'll go through the rest of my backlog without worrying too much if I finish it today or not. If there's info that's useful I'll take it, if not that's OK too. Thanks!

For my aims and my children. I dont think its possible to raise them without punishment. They forget the lessons every single time. A good hit drives the lesson home. Sometimes permanently for better or worse
