I am SO down for that! One of my very favorite songs by them is Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. My older brother played trumpet (coronet) & he performed the solo in that song on stage - I lost him in 2018 & every time I hear Ptx sing that song it reminds me of him. They perform it so well, it's now probably my favorite version of that song ever!!
From what I can gather, this album is going to be part standards and part Christmas. From this amazing cover to the snippets I've heard of other songs from the album, this is gonna be another masterpiece!

That part at the end when you couldn't tell who was singing is Mitch on the first line and then it switches to kirstin to echo his part. Followed by Scott who's voice you could tell. They sing part of this on the ptx tiktok account but they sang it as "I sent you this to say I hate you". The reason I'm telling you this is that you were into hearing the background harmonies and it's done live and not produced at all so you can really hear those background parts much better on the tiktok. Mitch has a beautiful part that shines through on the tiktok so much more than this produced version.i would check it out if you have tiktok. Also pretty sure ptx tweeted it too. They knew they were teasing us of an upcoming song.

I have read comments on other reactions to this song that said the person was not "impressed" with Pentatonix, no "wow factor". I can't disagree more with that statement. As much as I admire and love Stevie Wonder, Pentatonix did bring a wow factor of their own. Was it just like Stevie, of course not. No comparison is necessary. Did PTX sing this song amazingly, Yes very much. "alien mode" You just have to be willing to listen with an open mind.
Of course, I love their harmonies and bell tones, always. But this is a tough one for me. I adore the original and Stevie Wonder so much. It's just such a different feel, more laid-back and maybe less emotional. Still beautiful though.
They did what a cover song is meant to do, make the song their own. I wouldn't go as far as saying that they ruined the song or created an abomination of it, but it was completely untethered from the original, unlike Bohemian Rhapsody or Can You Feel The Love Tonight that still had the core essence and feel of the original. They took a simple song and made it a lot more complex than it needed to be. The arrangement was akin to the church singing groups in my church denomination (whether it be in studio or live off mic), and perhaps because of that, to me it isn't really revolutionary or groundbreaking. The cool thing about covers is that you will always have the originals to go back to. Their rendition is good, but I personally prefer the original.
@@samuelmncedisi1065 95% of the time I feel like PTX improves on the original. For me, this falls in that 5%, but I appreciate those who like their version better. Maybe it's because they were making a Christmas song of it rather than an emotional connection to someone that is missed dearly. It's just a different mindset. If I hadn't fallen in love with the original, I'd probably feel different. But I'm with you that I prefer Stevie on this one. Love to those who appreciate both versions though too! ❤
