- this was by far my best race to date, really enjoyed the battel with a evenly matched car and good driving. all the way apart from my couple off novice errors lol. car worked well 4th over all and 1st in class.
I have to say, that was the best half an hour of content I've seen in the last 10 yrs.
I just stumbled upon your channel and watched the previous post to this, what a bloody marvellous thing, I fecking love it, and so would my late father. I learned to drive in his Mk3 Cortina 2.0 GXL estate, but before that he had owned minis, when I was a mere twinkle in his eye around 1968 ish, he and his good friend cobbled together an 850 traveller with an aquaplane head and Shorrocks supercharger, 123 bhp @ the front wheels in a Mini, back then.
Anyway, flippin great car, great race, great video, great channel, keep it up.
thank you mate
Almost certainly your father got the Shorrock supercharger set up from my father’s business Allard in Putney , London as he had the Shorrock business within his. It would have likely been a C92B or the bigger C142B blower. He recently recreated a 1963 Anglia ‘Allardette’ rally car with the same setup, not having dealt with those blowers since the first part of the 70’s. Nice video
@@gavinallard9752 I'm fairly certain of it, he often talked about Sidney Allard with great admiration.
Dad's good friend Cliff Wilkinson acquired the supercharger, and the little 850 estate was a bit of a side project, as they were re-building a crash damaged lightweight e type jag.
Really enjoyed that, great drive, so different to the wet practice slipfest! 😜
Definitely I had my fingers crossed for dry wether
Just awesome seeing all them racing minis 👍🏻
Yer it’s good to see the old girls still flying round
Great drive mate! really showed what the car can do
Thanks buddy
I really enjoyed that including the answers you gave to the many questions. I thought some of the comments were a bit rude, evidently from armchair racers. Hope to see more content. Cheers!
Thanks buddy
that was good worl ,, i see mr edwards was there to congratts you too
yes mate was a good outing sticking a proper steel body mini in with the spacframes
Nice Race !!!
Thank you 👍🏻👌🏻
well done mate!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Awesome driving! What's the sometimes red flashing light on the dash drivers right?
Hey buddy the one on my tachometer is a 3 stage shift light, green orange and red,
Hey! Nice video, whats the button you touch in the steering wheel at the first of the race
Hi mate and thanks. The knob on the steering wheel is the adjustment for the power steering
@@skidmores.garage okey! Thanks!
Love minis
What is the red flashing light on the right hand side?
Hi buddy, I fitted a new water and oil temp gauge and didn’t adjust the max temp warning so it kept going bonkers lol
That gear selector display would have got punched if I was driving....... it didn't have a clue what gear you were in and was going up when you were going down, lol.
I'm presuming it works off micro switches on each side of the shifter, were they just poorly adjusted or did the thing have a funny five minutes?
Haha tell me about it lol. It is a proper job that works off the gear position sensor that runs of the selector drum in the gearbox. Apparently it’s common on the busa motor for the sensor to need taking out and cleaning but it’s behind the clutch so Iv not got round to it yet.
@@skidmores.garage It looked like you only need to sort 3rd out...or just remember that 0=3 :-)
Oh no...watched a bit more and it gets worse! Probably don't get much time to look at it anyhow.
@@spuduk1 yer it has a mind of its own lol, I don’t really use it only when pulling away really and a quick glance in the straight to see if I’m in 5th or 6th on some tracks but at that point I’m moving pretty quick so it’s just a glance
I finished 13th at Silverstone's 35th Mini Anniversary Fastest Mini in the World Race in 1995. I was driving the Clive Trickey Race Mini. Should have been a little better but got a poor start. Always excuses, but I had fun. Bill Sollis won in the KAD Mini. I remember when he lapped me, I almost got out to see why my Mini had stopped. Lol.
Haha fair play mate. It’s all about the taking part and having some fun in those types of races isn’t it. I’m not a driver by any means I more just drive round making up my lines as I go lol. I only did so well as cars dropping out really. As a late good friend of mine used to say “ to finish first you must first finish” build a car to last before trying to build one to win
@@skidmores.garage I found out I wasn't a real race driver. Going into corners at over 100 mph was a bit scary. I slowed for most of them, not wanting to damage the Trickey Mini (again with the excuses). My first year of racing ('93) I led a few of the races, just before Bill, Chris, Ian, and other front runners lapped me. Lol. But I had a lot of good races with others at the rear of the pack. I finished 11 or 12th in the Championship Series and 9th in the Winter Series. This was from getting 2 points just for finishing the races. In '94, when we went to 1.3 litres in the Miglia class, I was as fast as many of the leaders in a straight line, but still slowed for corners. Ron
What sort of power and weight? I'd be in class B if i entered haha
I’m at 190hp and 570kg I think mate
Class b any engine under 1600cc
@@skidmores.garage Ahh nice, no chance :D i'm miles off that like 170 and like 7-800kg?
@@skidmores.garage 570kg! Shit that's light
@@tombarnes2652 there was some only 150hp mate, it’s just for fun really buddy, stretch the car have some fun and see what you can get round brands
Dont need to downshift so many gears. These must be downgeared to fk?, my Busa does 86mph in first gear LOL.
Good race
Thanks buddy glad you liked it. I have to down shift a lot due to the lack of torque with the busa engine and the weight of the car so i down shift to help it pull threw the gear better
@@skidmores.garage How much does it weigh?, it looks a nice piece of kit you have there. Good job.
@@markholroyde9412 she weighs in at 556kg but Iv taken a little more weight out of her since then go should be around the 550
Never known anyone have a car built and can't drive it properly
Tell me about it haha
