very clear explanation.i bought same type modem,with 12v power supply connected.
using usb to ttl converter,i can not communicated with the modem using putty in all baud rate.
what is the default buad rate of the modem.

The default baud rate of sim 900a is 115200
GSM module is little sensitive so some time it doesn't work properly

In india except jio all simcard will work in this module.
When you purchase new card you get the full cut out of simcard.

Hi.. I am using the same module. Just need to know is it mandatory to connect external power supply to gsm module. Can't we take 5v line from arduino to ' VCC' pin of gsm module?
No you can't take Power from arduino because ...gsm need much more current,

Great video, question... does the SIM card need to be activated? Or can u use a brand new SIM card and sms text from it? You said it needs to be 3g? What exact pieces do I need to buy, where did u get yours.. plz list app u need to buy for it to work.
You required 2G SIM only and SIM card contains no storage then it will work properly

First of all thanks for making such a informative video. I am facing a problem while connecting my 900a module with Arduino. The network led is not blinking or turning on. My SIM also support 2g in phone. Now when I programed to find my Gsm IMEI no. then it showing "0" .
When i call from another no. It shows it is ringing at calling side. My Gsm module is same as in your video. I tried all such steps.
1. Giving sufficient power supply 12v 2A
2. Switching different sim card.
3. Tried AT commond.
4. There is not any PIN no. Lock there.
So please help and reply.
Will it work with raspberry Pi Pico w.?

i got some hardware issue while connecting gsm with lipo battery, inboard capacitor of 680uF got burst. Is there any possiblity for its working if i replace the capacitor with new one?

Yes the code and connection is same for nano too and this SIM900A works with all the simcard except JIO.

Yeah this is frequently occurring problem
Because GSM module is very sensitive, just disconnect the all things and re-upload the code ,
First power up the GSM module wait until gsm module is connected to the network then Arduino to it , then it must work properly..

Yes it will transmit our voice just like a normal mobile phone.
We have to just connect speaker and a mic.

Check your power supply and make sure to use 12volt and 2amp
sir I use sim 900a with arduino and i try this code to check gsm modem and my gsm network is already connected but when I type AT in serial monitor i get no response and aside from that i dont get to see what i send from the serial monitor.Sir can you advise me how to do this ok

Thank you, I was looking for something like that. But, I want to use ESP8266 NodeMCU ESP-12 E module with Arduino Uno board. I want to send AT command via Arduino Sketch instead of serial port. In that case, what will be the TX, RX pin connection? It would be a great help.

What will happen if we join 5 v from arduino uno board to A2 pin of same Arduino uno board, will it be short circuited or will it be use to read voltage if using proper serial monitor?
If you use proper serial monitor you able to read voltage reading. And nothing happen if didn't define that particular pin ...means no short-circuit.

Once we remove and connect power supply to gsm,code is not working.Printing some garbage values in serial window if we send sms to gsm.please tell me the solution.If power is not removed,working fine.Problem comming when power is disconnected and then connected.Helpful if u give reply as soon as possible.Thanks in advance!!
When you remove power from GSM then at that time remove the tx pin wire also.
Also should only 12V and 2Amp supply be given? Because I tried with 12v 1 amp supply and the code wasn't working!

Hey, I tried the functionality of gsm with the code which was given in link. N it worked well a week back. But now while sending message, the output is coming in serial monitor but the message is not being received at the receiver end n in serial monitor it showing 'ERROR'.What will be the issue in it?
May be sms plan of your sim card is ended

What sim should be used? Is it necessary that it has to be only a 2Gsim?
Sim900a is only compitible with 2g network, so you can any simcard that has 2g services.

While testing this device I am facing one small issue - When i send "Hello " message from my mobile it appears as +CMTI: "SM",17 only and not the actual message. Is this because i am using a 3g/4g sim? Have you faced this issue ? Any thoughts?
Yes this module only support 2g services,

First of all disconnect everything (Arduino from GSM module) then
Insert your sim then power supply plug .
U can use 3g sim if it has 2g services.
If you connect the Arduino with module without giving power supply to GSM module then there is a power regulator ic that will heat up..
