This album is incredible. Crazy how they scrapped it!! The production of the album in terms of the quality of the sound may be a little off, but the songs, wow!!
I dunno, I don't like it when a band disowns their early material. I find these musical gestation periods fascinating. It's no use comparing this to the 1987 onwards stuff. We see it a lot though, clearly they were WAY behind times with a post-punk sound in 1985 but...way ahead of the curve with a the first official album. I guess if they'd been born 5 years earlier they could have been known as one of the best post-Punk bands but they had to wait for the next bus. One worth waiting for.
Not sure of the relevance. Hardly a genre change. Did Nirvana disown Bleach? Both of those are great albums whereas the early Roses stuff isn't good quality-wise, more interesting really, at least to me.
Very cool video and one of the best tracks off the good Garage Flower album. They sounded quite a bit like southern Death Cult in those days. Probably best it wasn't released at the time as some songs were saved up for later
Imagine hearing the Garage Flower songs on BBC Radio 1 as a teenager, after 10 pm, on your radio cassette player... It'd have been a WOW moment for myself
Can’t lie, not my favourite track by the roses which makes sense as they were 5 years younger then, but, it’s still great to hear the tracks which came before the ones that we all adore. One love
yeh before they developed there own sound there own take on the the clash pistols punk era ...loved garage flower can see the big change in there sound from this is one one off garage flower and there first offical release ...but loved so young should have reworked some off the tracks off garage flower with there new sound
Yep and 'tell me' and all..amazin how they could master this genre so well and just a few short years later turned in one of the most melodically impressive sounding albums ever..true talent

Not as good as their later stuff but it grows on you
BEST Roses album
strange track. what a different band they used to be. 1985 - who sounded like this then? no one springs to mind.
Bauhaus and shit like that
@d R ok I should be more precise: no one who wanted success sounded like this.
Thas why nobody wanted to sign them
"Stormtroopers in Stay Press" ... I've never seen that picture.
