Hey AV, thanks for writing in and great question! The old adage of lighter weights/more reps fit the lean or "toned" protocol previously. However, it has been shows more and more that women should lift heavy too! They will not bulk like men do because 1. they do not have the genetic makeup for it and 2. this requires a caloric surplus.
