Popcorning has got to be the cutest pet-related term I've ever heard
Loveable Martian omg it’s the BEST to watch baby mice and rats popcorn. They literally will jump straight up and cling to the top or the cage screen and crawl around upside down like little spidermen lol
They call it that because they jump like when your cooking popcorn in a microwave so that only adds to the cuteness factor uwu

I found my mums Guinea Pig out in the sun curled up too. I thought at first he was sunbathing. But as I got closer he didn’t move. Like you, I also cried all day. He was the youngest of the brothers. The trio looked so cute together, but he was the cutest 😢😭🥺
About the last clip - I've learned from experience that Guinea Pigs learn very quickly to associate the rustling sounds made by plastic bags with food. When I had some piggies (my last one passed away about a year ago), they would get quite excited when I would un-bag groceries. They knew that my trips to the Market always included something for them.
I'll be adopting a couple more in the near future. I've been without them for too long. I miss having those little furballs.

We had a guinea pig when I was a kid; she used to squeak when she heard the fridge open 'cause she knew that where the veggies came from!

From what I’ve learned they do it for multiple reasons.. sure maybe when they’re happy, but also when they’re irritated or when ur touching a part of them that they don’t like.. just like when ppl talk or dogs bark, they’ll squeak for multiple reasons also

I will never forget when I got my first piggie and was just hanging out and watching him do his thing, and saw him popcorn without knowing what had just happened. Best feeling ever was the washing away of fear when I learned it was just a sign he was so happy he couldn't help himself. And now looking over to an empty cage (lost my last one last Wednesday), I'd give anything to see my babygirl popcorn when she did it so much I gave her the middle name of Spaz.
A " popcorning" guinea pig is a sign of a happy and exciting guinea pig.

At 2:18, how does that enclosure contain them? I've had many that would be able to jump right out of that no problem. Look how high the mama jumps at 2:51! She does it several times.
I'm almost certain that that is a playtime area for the Guinea Pigs to have some fun. Notice that there's not a water bottle or even food present and it's absent of frequent droppings.
We used to keep our guinea pigs in a large under-the-bed" box (about 4" tall). They loved the boxes and never tried to jump out. In fact, they'd even try to jump back in when you took them out. I guess they felt really safe and comfortable in there. We used that type of box as their permanent enlcosure for nearly 10 years of guinea pig-keeping.
All animals hopping are so precious. It's like watching human kids skip :/. I wish I still had the same spirit. Just bounced simply for existing or some ish
I had an enclosure for two of my younger guinea pigs a few years ago and they squeezed through the bars to escape. 😂
Guinea pigs don’t have depth perception. They can fall right off of a bed. So I assume they don’t think to jump over it when they’re having so much fun! But it’s most likely a play area, no water or food.

@@catalinaaguilera649 as In got stuck in higher levels of their cage in which they then safely jumped back down! I love guinea pigs and had a multilevel home for them. Sadly I only now have 3 chinchillas. But I understand that by getting stuck you might have thought of something like their feet or other appendages getting stuck in places.

For my guinea pigs I notice they start popcorning if they are happy, or they need to go to the bathroom, or they are being touched in an area they don't like, or if they are about to start running around for exercise.

Guineas are SMART. One time I got this piggie---- he knew he was to stay in the basket I brought--- and when he saw me building a playpen he knew it was for him & he couldn't stop purring. Then my Jeffrey held out his foot for us to see when he got a tumor in it. Unfortunately we couldn't help him. Nicky my little explosion of gray fur once dropped one of his own poops from the table he was running around on in our freinds drink because he didn't like her and ran away laughing. It was just like a bad little boy!! I have many stories to tell about my guineas but I'm prolly taking too much space.

One of my piggies NEVER did this as a baby. He started when he was about 3 years old and then popcorned like crazy whenever there was new bedding in the enclosure. He was like yo, thanks, that's awesome, LET'S JUMP!! :)

*yeah my baby guinea pig pop corned too and since his cage is so huge and I mean like in the roof of it is high enough for him and what he did was he pop corned and he ended up doing a BACKFLIP WHILE IN MID AIR TOO SINCE HE POP CORNED and this was when he was 1 years old and now he’s currently 2 years old so yeah pretty much*
I once had a guinea pig popcorn so hard that it did a mid-air roll and landed on its back. It seemed so surprised to be in that position that it couldn't figure out how to right itself for a couple seconds.
