Whoever took this video Thank You! The picture and sound is so crisp and clear and in your face. I love MS wholeheartedly he is a badass on guitar my favorite right next to JP. I can watch him with a flying V between his thighs for days! True guitar hero. 👍
You're welcome. I think you summed up how we all feel about MS. I'm so happy that he was able to clean up and get himself back to this level. Just stone cold amazing.
chasethedragon Yo matey. I wonder if Mr. Gary.j.Tunnicliffe was in this audience. I auditioned for Gary Barden's Statetrooper years ago. My dear friend Mel Galley-Whitesnake (RIP) put a word in after seeing me at the Anglsey Pub in Cannock,West Mids.I auditioned with cry for the nations and armed and ready.I did the solo's note for note schenker. When we did Armed and Ready I noticed the changes weren't coming in order. I sussed out Gary was signaling the band 50/50 if we was in a verse we'd go to a chorus then do a solo then goto bridge. This went on for 15 mins and Bruce Bisland the drummer and I were the only ones left..I was only 16/17 at the time. My Dad drove me to the audition was fuckinell u've cracked it. Gary gave the band such a bollocking. He's only had six weeks to learn and he's pissing all over you.You wankers have been with me 6 mnths. Brian Robertson got the gig and took the keyboard player to form another band. Statetrooper would have had a record deal with me but thats life.I say that in modesty as my band Storm were recording at the Ebony label. Still having a good living as a musician. Gary.j.Tunnicliffe who does special fx like pinheads make up Hellraiser III. He sang in my band Elite and is the biggest MSG fan out there.I have heard Statetrooper have reformed in the rock nostalgia wave.Missed Micheal and Gary at London's Camden Palais gig cos I was working.
becca latina Your enthusiasm over The Blond Bomer M.S. peeked my interest in him. He is one kick-ass guitarist!!! I even checked him out on the Scorpions 1st and Lovedrive albums. Rory Gallagher (Taste) has always been my fav. guitarist, M.S. right there with him...Thnx Becca!
Arguing about guitar players is like arguing about what fruit is the best. There is no right or wrong. I personally think Rudolf is better. That's my preference and doesn't make me wrong. If you want to make fun of me that is fine, I don't give a sh#t. I'm willing to bet that those of you in here saying Michael is better are over the age of 50. Am I right? Probably in your 60's. It's like trying to say who is better, Zakk Wylde or Eddie Van Halen or John Petrucci or Jeff Loomis.
Hey, GREAT, GREAT job of editing all of those incredible "Only Michael Schenker can play this" blend of lead breaks, solos, and fills. I've seen every guitarist I ever wanted to except Jimi, he was just about 5 years before my time, or I would be able to say I have seen them ALL, and nobody, Hendrix included had the combination of melody, fluidity, clean and precise picking AND note playing that The Blond Bomber, (as Phil Mogg named him) has. NOBODY. 60 years old, and still scorching arenas worldwide, like he did at 18, when he joined UFO. My favorite, and greatest ever for me. Thank you for posting this.
Michael Schenker does put all guitarist to Shame, i'm not afraid to say it and Michael did write the book, he's the Maestro and will always be the teacher.
Michael is so smooth and plays with such feel it's incredible.I saw the MSG first album live in Boston he was beyond expectations which is saying a Lot.
Michael has this fire in his playing that we don't get to hear from the players nowadays that are into conserving physical movement to bore us with recycled monotonous uber-shred without melodic intent. Michael's notes go into the soul, today's player's notes go into the trash.
Victor AT'z The last bit is from the classic 1st Michael Schenker record called "Into the Arena." Thanks for the post man. I used to do stuff like that when I had a few odd minutes left on a tape. Drove my friends nuts, highlights, stops and starts. Flashbacks. He is still great today though
He started out as a little kid in a bedrooom with a little amp, look at him now.He has realized his dream and has become all he hoped to be a guitarist who is respected and who could make people happy with his playing Amen!

Great editing job there. And as others have said great capture. Let's see now you start out with Save Yourself go into Rock Bottom, then Armed and Ready the biggest part is Let it Roll, Lights Out and of course Into the Arena. Much better than most shows captured. I can see why folks asked about the camera. But the editing was all you. Thumbs up mate.
Me emociona hasta las lágrimas.vaya articulación ,que limpieza de ejecución,que sensibilidad interpretativa ,hacia años que no escuchaba algo tan elevado,o quiza nunca.
This playing is awesome WOW! I am so happy to see him play like this what a legend. Shows what man can do if he puts his mind to it. Thanks for the inspiration Michael!!!!
I like Michael much more than Joe Bonnamasa, of for that matter- most other guitarist out there..why? because of his tone, note selection, vibrato, compositions, and modest humorous personality..he's a great player and deserves top recognition, over alot of others especially Pat Travers..whom I used to be a fan of, M.S. has so much more class.
A true guitar genius! I'm stuck on the acoustic 'Thank You 3' these days. I wonder that Michael didn't rise any higher than he has, like Jimmy Page . . . His sound is an inspiration for greater things! Rock on Michael!

We were at the Concert in San Jose the night before this one, directly in front of Mister M.Schenker leaning on the stage ( ; What a fuckin blast seeing Michael upclose, the guy is purely amazing, Genius guitarist, it'z no wonder we call him the Maestro, he just can't be beat.
+The67flyingV Man, I totally hear you!! :) I was in the audience ( two nights! ) at The Edge in Palo Alto in 1999 for his "Unforgiven" Tour. I swear, he was SO on those nights, I was literally on a Music High for weeks afterwards. It didn't hurt that he signed my UFO shirt before the show and myself/girlfriend/brother are on the live CD I play all the time.... :-) I don't even think the CD is in print anymore :( Only Michael Can Rock Me !! ♪♫♫
I am such a huge Michael Schenker fan its not even funny grew up listening to UFO cause my dads a fan to luv luv luv the scorpions. Nobody rocks the flying V like schenker can One Handed. He is why I play guitar.
Schenker is one of a kind and so kick ass when he's on and not a a slave to his equipment hes a captivating player...I can tell his mojo was happening and the amps were reacting right and he found that sweet spot he looks for onstage as you can tell all his solos are done from the same spot....love him..
Saw him at the Rodeo Club the night before this concert we were leaning on the stage and he kicked ass, Schenker is the Best ( the Maestro )., he keeps gettin better as he gets older, excellent Video by chasethedragon, keep up the good work, you should send this one to Schenker himself i think he would dig it. Michael is the ZillaGod of Guitar, pure Virtuoso.
Well put, finding the sweet spot ( the wah pedal ) and having the feel ( mojo ) can be difficult to find sometimes, you just have to let it pour out of you like all good artist do, he was on top of things on this night, and your right the 2205'S have to react exceptional also. Schenker's the FTR.
Schenker is an absolute monster on guitar. A technical genius and a creative genius. He is better than ever in his late fifties. The guy is aging like an expensive red wine. Many people copy him and may do it well, but the true genius is in the work he created, especially with UFO and in his early MSG days. In the top ten guitarists of all time. Most guys these days can't create the riffs and solos anywhere near what he created.
I feel so lucky to see him at Hennessey's Thursday in Vegas, 5 feet from the stage and it makes me feel even more fortunate to own a signature MS dean V. I probably am 'bout 10% of his playing ability, so I'm feeling quite happy !!
For Everybody in the San Francisco South Bay area, San Jose/Santa Cruz and all surrounding areas, Michael is playing at the Heritage Theater in Campbell Ca. on Feb. 13, 2014, we need to sell this place out, so all Schenker fans that can make it here should attend, it will be fucking fantastic that the Maestro is playing in little Campbell Ca. ( my backyard ) LOL, let's give Schenker a very warm welcome back to the south Bay. Rock on Michael.
It's amazing how much "juicier" the Dean V's sound than the Gibsons he used to play. I had an '81 Gibson V and although it played really nice, I couldn't get it to sound think no matter what I tried. I finally sold it.
Well-said. I last saw Schenker in early 2008, when everything started working out for him at last. Since then, he's got even better! Rock guitar as Art.
From superstar to Venice Beach bum to back kicking out the jams. Just shows you how hard this bad dude is. Nobody, but nobody does Schenker... just as nobody does Blackmore like Richie. His style is like a loaded Thompson just waiting to go off & then it does.
You got taste. While I was never a fan of UFO(earlier that is) I am definitely a fan of this guitar player. Blackmore has always been my favorite though I know both of these guys are not the best. I would look other than rock for that. Look up Frank Gamble(Not sure how to spell it). He is amazing if you can get used to that music style. But He isn't just fast. He does things I have NEVER seen anyone do. Maybe Satriani and Vai, Maybe. Or Eric Johnson. At this point who is to say who is best? They are all so good(great) I cannot measure the difference. Maybe it is better to enjoy all of the variety. With all the electronic musicians out there these guys get forgotten. What is with that???
abel wayne Michael Schenker with UFO was doing things on the guitar that Satriani, Vai Malmsteen,Rhoads and even Eddie Van Halen wish they could do. Michael Schenker Rocks.
+abel wayne I agree on that all guitarists have their own style and comparing them like it's a contest is pretty stupid really. Too bad I was too young to see Hendrix, but have seen many great guitarists such as Van Halen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson,Michael Schenker etc. It never gets old.
I saw Ritchie Blackmore with Rainbow(during Dio) and he was great, but unfortunately as usual, he is an ass. He wouldn't come back on stage though the crown went insane. I also saw Neil Schon, believe me, in his prime he was no slouch. He was far better (in my opinion) than his former mentor Carlos Santana. If you have never heard of him, listen to Frank Gambale. A totally different style of music, but he is incredible. Far above most we have mentioned. He is what I would refer to as a prodigy while Hendrix, Blackmore, Page, Satriani etc are great, guitarists like Gambali have something more. However, I do not enjoy their musical style nearly as much as those aforementioned guitarists. Another guitar monster is Alan Holdsworth.
as it was said music saves the sick ones'',and so as we see you really cant stop something great from inside that needs to come out, and music that one makes and lets it flow from their soul can never be denied because it is the most sincerist form of one's inner self'', and expression,' keep jammin bro'',
Captain Nemo and Into the Arena both have similar transitions towards the end, moving from fast, frenetic pieces into slower, more melodic endings. But chasethedragon is definitely right--this piece is from Into the Arena. The original transition on the first MSG album was done on a keyboard, but Michael usually plays that on the guitar in his live versions. He does the same thing with the keyboard piece from Captain Nemo. Both great instrumental songs.
This is about the last man standing playing true heaveyrock! Many other greate, but you cant compare Steve Vai, malmsteen, Petrucci.... these guys who learned to play from child age.. by mom and dad at school... In my opinion Michael is up there with Ritchie Blackmore and other the Kings who wrote their own music. Two types komments here: The Godzilla and armageddon ...like the music....followers.. And other ones that has followed mr. Shenker as I have. With amazing touches there is allways another side...
For all the M.Schenker fanz in the SouthBay, Michael's Temple of Rock is kicking off the first leg of the American tour here in SJ on April 25, 2015@the RockBar, be there or be square, this should be killer.
You can hear so many great guitars players that came after him were influenced by him. I hear Eddie Van Halen, Vai, Yngwie, Slash, Hammett, etc. A magnificent player.

This guy, Ritchie Blackmore, Uli Roth and Van Halen practically invented modern heavy metal shred guitar in the 70s. All amazing pioneers.
The people you mention were all highly marketed, hence their popularity.
I couldnt agree more+ iommy
Pretty sure Eddie Van Halen was influenced by Michael…..
Alot of great guitarists out there, but very few with the raw talent and emotion like Michael Schenker. Never get tired of listening to him.
Yeah, alot of guys can play his stuff, but he wrote it all, his creations are so amazing, they speak. He has true talent, not just playing ability.

MSG and Blackmore are my two favorites also.
Hoping that Schenker's Temple of Rock is going to be here in the states by early 2015, getting restless ( ;
Always enjoyed his playing. And his tone is such a nice change from the post Van Halen, hyper-gain sound a lot of players use.
his playing today gets better and better. i am sure he quit drinking.
he is my hero since 1974, when i first heard him.
jaw dropping intro!!!!!!!!! always loved that intro.
Just some tasty licks!
4:00 - 4:30, that part gives me guess bumbs
as it was said music saves the sick ones'',and so as we see you really cant stop something great from inside that needs to come out, and music that one makes and lets it flow from their soul can never be denied because it is the most sincerist form of one's inner self'', and expression,' keep jammin bro'',
I never noticed this guy is so good on guitar!
going to see him tonight in san Juan Capistrano! Nice video!
Schenker is like Malmsteen with taste :)
In 1978 or 79, I saw a guy at a local rock gig in San Diego, with a shirt that said, " Michael Schenker is UFO. My Obsession started!
This is a real guitar hero.
What's the name of the last song at 5:05 ?
I need to listen to the whole song. It's amazing.
+Victor Van Musicland That's the solo from "Into the Arena" from the first MSG album.
+chasethedragon : Thanks sooo much bro. Such a cool song.
+Victor AT'z haha, I don't believe it! the same question i wanted to make!!!!!!!!!!! thankschasethedragon !!!
hi its captain nemo from built to destroy!!cheers!
Two types komments here:
The Godzilla and armageddon ...like the music....followers..
March 25th. SJ ( RockBar ).

what kinda camera are you using? it records very nice, Need to get one.
You can hear so many great guitars players that came after him were influenced by him. I hear Eddie Van Halen, Vai, Yngwie, Slash, Hammett, etc. A magnificent player.
Yup, Michael Schenker was Yngwie BEFORE Yngwie.
