  • We've got a new FREE AI Video generator, and the quality and results are super impressive, a few approaching Sora level of quality. Although, this does come with a catch, namely the generation length leaves a bit to desire.
    That said, I do have a trick to share with you to extend out your generations.
    We're also going taking a look at the latest research on Feature Length AI Movies. We're looking at MovieLLM, a research paper that will show us exactly how this will work.
    Lastly we're rounding out with some drama at Midjourney- namely, they've got beef with Stablity.AI-- we'll take a dive into the issue to see what the deal is!

    Thanks for sharing! I clicked the link and started using Haiper before the video finished.
    The 2 second limit is not great. So far nothing I've put in was even moderately what I asked for. Of course 2 seconds is not much time for things to happen, but I'm not having much luck at all so far.
    It's also very slow to render.
    And so far, everything looks like it's in slow motion. So extending them with retiming isn't going to cut it unless you want almost no movement, but in super slow motion.
    Excited to see where it goes, but I don't think it's usable for anything I want to do at this point.

    • @TheoreticallyMedia
      @TheoreticallyMedia  3 месяца назад +5

      Super slow in generating right now, but I also think their servers are likely getting slagged right now. The Hug of Death-- haha! I think it'll ease down in a few days. The 2 second generations...yeah, I think those are best served for using as establishing shots, or non-specific actions. Like, "A walk on the beach" or "Robot in a City"
      There just isn't enough time in 2 seconds...although, if you use the slow-down technique I mentioned, you can get some cool moody stuff out of it.
      The real win here is the 4sec SD stuff. This is basically Free Pika.

    • @ElectroBlep
      @ElectroBlep 3 месяца назад

      Thanks for the response. I've been playing with it off and on for a few hours, and some results are better than what I had gotten when I wrote my last comment. For even the least important stuff I want to do, I really need 10 or more likely 15 seconds, so I still hate the 2 second limit, but I can see potential in this. I think I'll post a video with multiple regenerations to give people an idea of what to expect. It definitely doesn't seem to follow a lot of my directions, but some results have been interesting.@@TheoreticallyMedia

    In the industry we go by certain rules that I’m surprised no RUclipsrs mention, when they talk about AI feature length films. Those rules are the “Academic Standards” a.k.a. ‘Smpte Standards”. These end user tools are light years away from reaching QC standards (like Topaz, as a brief example)…..and for those of you who are not familiar with these standards, in short, no movie theater nor platform will showcase your film if you can’t pass a QC…..HBO has the highest standard of all, and the reason sometimes you wonder why certain movie is not on HBO is only because of Quality Control matters…..

    • @TheoreticallyMedia
      @TheoreticallyMedia  3 месяца назад +3

      oh, totally. I can say with near certainty that no other RUclipsr in this weird AI space has ever had to address notes in a Technicolor or Deluxe QC report. I have...a few hundred times.
      (That said, you just quickly learn to check the box that says "Artistic Intent" on all the issues!)
      The larger point that I've been making is: None of this needs to be Industry Standard. It'll eventually get there, but right now I consider AI to be...(I'm dating myself here) like CoSa. After Effects before After Effects existed.
      None of that was Industry or Broadcast standard. It was a tool that existed before the term Motion Graphics existed. I doubt even Adobe realized what it would eventually become when they acquired it.
      My overall point being: None of this has to conform to any standards. For now, at least. It'll get there, I'm sure-- but in the meantime, I think it is such a great time to bash these tools together in totally unexpected ways to see what comes out.

    • @TheoreticallyMedia
      @TheoreticallyMedia  3 месяца назад +1

      Given the cost of compute, I do understand the need to charge-- the way I see it, most of us are early adopters into this technology. And yeah, in some ways, we're paying to beta test-- but I also like looking at it as: we're shaping the future of this technology.
      ...I mean, for a monthly fee.
      That said, I've been giving Midjourney money every month since the beginning of v3. So, I'm just onboard for the whole ride.

    • @ivydune4185
      @ivydune4185 3 месяца назад +1

      Yes and no. I understand that people don't work for free and these things cost time and money. But they are working for profit.
      You're paying at least $120 (yearly) for a faulty product that you can use for limited amount of times a month (credits).
      Even if you have lots of credits, it's still 120/year per a limited usage with random and erratic results. If you buy a software, you pay that or less once in a lifetime and you use it as many times as you want per month with reliable results.

    The issue I have with Movie LLM is that while I can definitely see a day soon enough where this kind of model will be heavily used, I don't think it's anything close to what a true creative power user will be interested in. I could write a treatise on this, suffice to say I believe creative AI "filmmakers" in the future are going to seek control over the script to storyboard, and scene by scene control and guidance capabilities. I've yet to see anyone begin to tackle this approach seriously, and to be candid, despite efforts to comprehend how to do it it's something bigger than my shrew sized brain to attempt to even begin to develop on my own.

    • @TheoreticallyMedia

      I totally agree with you. I think this technology is better served in games or interactive media. Like, a writer/creator comes up with the “golden path” but, the viewer player has agency to explore the world.

    • @melsholeparody
      @melsholeparody 3 месяца назад

      @@TheoreticallyMedia Yep, this is true. I started separating the background and characters into their own images. I found out when I generated a background into a video; without any characters, vehicles, etc in it, (i.e. a focal point), that it moves much smoother without warping/morphing. I discovered that the camera movement generated, when overlaying a still image of the character, makes it appear as if the character is walking. For example: I used the prompt "a noir city back alley late at night, cold, wet, rainy, no people, no vehicles" and it generated it smoothly (I used Leonardo Ai for that though), when I generated the still into movement, it looked like a first person view of someone walking. I've been having one heck of a time trying to get characters to generate them walking without morphing or warping so it seems that's working for now until Ai programs get it fixed.

      I agree. Very misleading saying it’s feature length. Better off writing a book and using still images for it.
      Narrating throughout the film feels lame. Like they’re trying to force progress before it’s here.
      Not an IT guy, but if you can do 2 seconds what prevents from doing an actual feature length film? Processing power? Memory capacity? All the above?

    Thank you for this introduction. I have really been curious about AI videos and wanted to try...went on the website and made my very first Video! We are on the cusp of amazing movies made by creative people all over the world....Hollywood should really start to feel threatened as people will be able to make the movies they want to see in the genre they love. I'm waiting for the Corporations to panic and start trying to limit access to AI generation tools or some such...especially when full length movies and the like start showing up on RUclips and start getting millions of views and add revenue...then the corps in the media industry are going to panic and do everything they can not to lose control of the movie industry. It's going to be a fun and interesting time, and I personally cannot wait.
    I know IP is going to start being an issue as well....a lot of Star Wars fans want to fix Star Wars...can you imagine Disney freaking out if someone made a feature length Star Wars movie that does better on RUclips than the crap they have been making? They are going to unleash an army of Lawyers I'm sure. Anyway, I'm rambling, thank you so much for this brief tutorial.

      Agreed. Repaint isn’t really there yet, but they’re also super early into launch, so I’ll give them a lot of leeway here. Also, I didn’t really hit it in the video, but you can’t specifically aim for target areas to repaint. It’s basically the whole frame.
      That said, no complaints. It’s free, and they’re just getting started.

Almost, “choose your own adventure” type entertainment, where a writer has the end point, but the viewer can still explore the world.
      I also think it’ll be awhile before the story/writing engine is hooked up effectively to the image/video generator. MovieLLM shows it can be done, but I figure it’ll be super buggy for quite some time.

    I've been playing with it quite a bit today, using the image-video stuff, it's kind of ok, out of about 10 different rolls, I managed to get maybe a second or two of video that would have been usable. Not exactly ideal but i've seen a whole lot worse. I really hope they take off though. We need a lot of competition in this space, so that Sora doesn't end up owning the market and controlling the price.
    It's getting very expensive to use all of these great AI tools. The text to video stuff is very promising though. I gave it a prompt about Cersei from Game of Thrones standing in the red keep and the end result was something that looked 99.% like it could have been a shot from the show.

    • @TheoreticallyMedia

      I think (currently) it's strong point is Text To Video. It does OK at I2V, but we still have all the usual problems there. Although, much more stable than say, Pika-- it still doesn't really follow directions.
      But, you can get some cool stuff out of T2V if you use the SD version and crank the motion up!

      For the longest time, I've wanted to create a specific scene that I think should have been in Game of Thrones and this is the first tool I've used where I think that with enough time, I could probably pull that off and it would actually look decent. @@flagshipbowtie On Beta launch? Back in the Discord days? You might be right about that...AI has rattled my brain at this point! I think the 2 second thing is useful for establishing shots if you can extend via slo-mo (as I did in the video) or catch a good loop. For now, I'm really thinking of HD as a preview of what is to come. The 4 second gen is where its at. We've basically got a free Pika here.

      Yeah, I’ve got plenty of concerns on that front as well. I’ve long been a proponent of UBI, and that’s a conversation we should have been having 6 years ago, but per typical, we’ll be waiting until it’s too late to even start the discussion.
      That said, I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom. Although larger corporations will certainly downsize, this technology also offers many smaller companies to do more. All of whom will still require human talent to create.
      I think we’re moving toward less of a 9 to 5 cubical work structure and more into a remote/smaller team/smaller company situation.
      That said. That is on the knowledge worker front. We still have a much larger problem with automation (re: robots) in factory or labor jobs.
      Although not an AI issue, when was the last time you had a cashier ring you up, as opposed to self checkout, for example.

    Man, I can´t wait for the day when I´ll be able to take all the stuff in my head and let it all out in short and longer movies :O
    Problem is, right now there are so many interesting tools for creative work, I´d need to be a good bit wealthier than I am to utilize
    a fraction of them properly xD
    Another thing that bothers me is that everything is online. I see censorship from the get go being a problem. Not necessarily talking about straight forward p*rn here, but
    other things including explicit visuals. For example, you want to create an episodic thriller series with some indecent s3xual or er*tic content. Where will those tools draw the line? possible outcome is that there´ll be dedicated tools for "adult content" which then again might be bad for "main stream" content or simply lack in quality.
    If you know what I mean... Well, maybe thinking too much about things we simply don´t know yet :)

    Sorry to always be the Video AI Debbie Downer, but Haiper isn't even close to SORA.
    Let's say the average length of the videos Open AI gave us with SORA was between 10 and 20 seconds. That's 500 - 1000% greater object permanence coherence consistency than Haiper...... that seems significantly different to me.
    With a 1 minute video in SORA, that would be a 3000% difference.
    I warned you I'm the Debbie Downer of Video AI. 😉
