I agree with your take on the internalized misogyny of older women with younger men, but I think that Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s discourse is needed because he met his wife while he was a minor and she was in her 40’s I think and they got married when he was like 19 so that is very icky and problematic.
StreetDocs Technically, it's very much on the brink of being a legal judgement considering he was only 18 when they met ... Also, yes, my guy.... some people have morals. I know, I know... could not be you. 😂
@StreetDocs You do know that until 1972, the legal age was 21. I get so sick of creepy people (usually men... and if I had to guess that's what you are) justifying their desire to target a much younger person to be with because y'all do not fool anyone. If the legal age of consent tomorrow were 13, many of you would start sleeping with 13 year olds immediately. 18 is an arbitrary number that our government originally used for drafts during war. Then teenagers during the Vietnam War said it was ridiculous that they could be drafted into war but couldn't vote for the politicians starting the wars... and instead of raising the age for the draft (which is what the protestors were trying for) Nixon, scum bag bastard he was, lowered the age of consent to 18. It means absolutely nothing, it is based on absolutely nothing... If you are well over 25 and you get with someone years younger than 25 (when we know thanks to science that a person can fully comprehend consequences and choices as an adult would) you are doing it for control of the relationship, of that person, of the situation. Period. You are in two different phases of life. You should have nothing in common. There is absolutely no reason for a grown woman my age to look twice at an 18 year old. If you yourself were a legal adult when your very young person was born, there is no excuse for you being with them and that law doesn't change that. It was originally 21 years old for a reason....
I don’t think it was responsible to use Aaron Taylor Johnson and his predatory of a wife as an example. While there are people who aren’t supportive of her marriage to him because of her age now and him being a heartthrob, majority of the apprehension against their relationship stems from her meeting him at 14, worked with him at 17, and publicly came out as a couple at 18. Allegedly, she was a family friend, so grooming is a definite thing that happened. This was not the best example. At. All.
I also thought that sometimes it was a bit too much explaining when it was obvious but what I liked was the natural behavior and insecurity of Samuel in some highly sexually charged moments, they saved us from some cringe moments in the cinema by showing imperfection in sex. All in all for me a 7/10
this was the worst film I have ever seen quite possibly, I was so excited for it from the trailer but what a waste of Nicole kidmans actress, the review that resonated the most was the person who said they got so bored they started playing candy crush.
I went into it knowing absolutely nothing, just the rave scene I ended up seeing on instagram reels & that was the only part of the film I enjoyed. I couldn't even finish the rest
I'm glad that this movie worked for some people. But I clearly was not the intended audience because it for me was just a boring movie. But again, I'm glad this found the right audience.
Thank you omgggg i expected to GAG for this movie but it made me physically sick. I HATED the AI warehouse parts, nicole kidman cannot move her face bruh and overall i just hated every single choice she made I was sitting in the theatre w a stomachache from how icky i felt
and barris bickenson can't fucking dance bruh. NOTHING about his character gave the impression that he would wear a gold chain. nothing about his character was captivating enough to risk it for the biscuit in my opinion. Also this movie felt strangely like a WASP fantasy idk
also sorry for venting but like everyone loves this movie and I need a safe space to be a hater: the poc characters just being side pieces to fix this white womans problems fr pissed me off. Esme is the reason this shit didn't blow up in her face bruh like the scene of her patting down Romy's Botox made me so uncomfortable like girl I'm tryna talk about my career and youre out here crawling on the floor for the INTERN!???!? Esme literally had to babygirl THE babygirl into doing her job
I did like the awkwardness of navigating this new relationship and that they really showed the consequences of her actions. Her getting a happy ending had me like 🫣🙄
By now I must have seen over 20 reviews of this movie and nurture an entire collection of videos I collected affiliated to Babygirl. Take it from me; Yours is the best. And 5 stars for referring to Interview With The Vampire Antonio Banderas. My opinion; The final 30 minutes made the movie relatable to a broader audience. But it was insufficient to give Romy a full hero's journey. Which is a singular, pretty simplistic trope, so that may not have been the writer's intention to begin with. But I would love it being cut to an alternative ending or see a Part II.
@Mosk-x6p I did!! I even found a new layer to the movie, which I think will be the take in 20 years, on this movie. Thinking of making a video about that! I ll see if I can make a community post about it.
I went to this movie with my grandma. We agreed on something else before we went to the theater (can't remember what) and then when we were buying tickets she just asked for this movie instead, so I was like "uhhh... okay. She's buying so I won't fight her." Then when we walked out she said "I wasn't expecting that much sex in the movie." And I just had no words. I thought the description was pretty candid about what the film was when we read it together beforehand, but I guess not enough for my grandma. I wish I was lying 😭💀🥀
Another thing to note regarding the point of 'this would not have happened before the cheating' is that something significant has to happen in someone's life for them to start thinking about it, communicating and making a change in their life
I am the target audience for your videos! Yay! You're great :D What's your process, though? Do you just sit and write all this in a first step while chuckling and having a glass of red? I hope you do. I'm a fan now. And can recommend vanilla soy milk!
Thank you! I'm still working on a process that works for me but I do script everything out while enjoying a massive glass of water (wine/or a special drink is for recording)
This is just my opinion but maybe they cast Mr Banderas because they intended to portray him fulfilling her needs. She was faking her Os for 18? years. It makes sense. So many women are with the men they desire but they struggle to communicate their needs and fantasies. I think that really worked for me, I thought that waw very realistic
The writer stole two scenes one when she runs back from the door and she runs back for their first embrace. (Unfaithful) Another when she comes home and her lover is in her house. (Fatal Attraction). So I did not like she the writer stole those scenes.
@alyssawatchesmovies 😂 It's coming out on streaming tomorrow & I cannot wait to see it, but I'm sure I'll also wonder why they're taking pool trips with coats on!
Girl, i love your analysis and the video, but you gotta let that Xmas go 😂 it's not that relevant to the plot! What i wondered at the end was... was she really having a good time with her husband, or was she again faking it, being back to her people pleasing persona?
Movies like this make me realize how much of cinema is wish fulfillment for a particular audience. So much potential, beautifully shot, erotically produced fragments, but so many plot issues, uneven pacing, and lack of organic chemistry between the leads. I will give Nicole Kidman a lot of credit for making it interesting to watch. A very vulnerable performance. (They did Antonio Banderas so wrong in this movie. I would sue.)
Another entertaining and insightful review. I was afraid this was going to be a 50 SHADES ripoff. Sounds like they tried to be a little more character-based, even if they weren't entirely successful in the execution.
Yeah, where the heck was Christmas??? So funny that it bothered you, too. Overall, I thought this flick was pretty ridiculous, though I liked Samuel. There were also some decent needle drops, like Father Figure by George Michael.
Writers genuinely think that wonen crave characters like Christian Grey from 50 shades or that abomination of expression guy from 365 days or even when older woman younger guy romances glorify the maturity of the younger man where the guy just absolutely knows just exactly what to do but seeing Samuel's character in this movie was so refreshing. He was as clueless as she was. Casually rubs off her astrology question and is completely completely honest about his wants and thats exactly what makes him so ideal because his self awareness also helps her along the way. It was so beautiful to see her undressing and him hugging her or even when she first orgasms with that absolutely disgusting gutteral voice and he just hugs her. It was acceptance of purest form. ❤❤
I have to say, I knew I was the target demographic for Nosferatu so I saw it and… I hated it 😬. I actually like sex and violence in my movies(I mostly watch trashy Italian horror) I just thought Nosferatu was bad, it’s the pacing and I felt it failed to properly convey its supposed message.
Also the writing was a little pretentious and shit imo, I’ve seen people compare them but I hope babygirl will be better, I’ll probably wait until home release though
Keith calls her baby girl ! Married 19 years ! Homes in country ! Farther is Antony Kidman well known pedi cult ring leader in Australia . Does eyes wide shut . No need to clarify what that so called doco is about . This was a stick it to Keith revenge life imitates art payback . Why does every movie reviewer miss the important parallels ?????
You didn’t mention the scene where she goes to the restaurant where Samuel works and he gave her the boot talk about humiliating! It also bugged me when he would tell her not to touch him or that she looked like a mom and he wasn’t into that.
nah age gap relationships are cringe either way.. less cringe than 18 and 50 still 25 is quite young and i rlly dislike this notion that youthfullness is desirable, age gap between 30 and 50 or 40 and 60 cool imo yall both wrinkly good for yall...also harris dickinson is 28 so closer to 30 than 25 maybe thts why it doesnt look that weird...just saying its cringe not immoral bc ofc two adults...yada yada. really liked ur review btw
"A guy you don't wanna date. But you wanna have an affair with" I'm really done with women after hearing that. You are clearly admitting that one man isn't enough no matter how perfect he is. This singular point is enough to destroy marriages and the family unit. Good Job Womenkind...👏🏻 You'll soon see the consequences of self-indulgence. Patriarchy won't sit back quietly. 🔥🔥
"and dare I say, her wig is starting to look good" CRYING😭😭
I agree with your take on the internalized misogyny of older women with younger men, but I think that Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s discourse is needed because he met his wife while he was a minor and she was in her 40’s I think and they got married when he was like 19 so that is very icky and problematic.
Glad somebody else already came here with that thought.
@ansleyzigzag Yeah I think there has to be a better example she could have used for her point
StreetDocs just cause they are ok with it doesn’t mean it’s wrong that is just really gross behavior on his wife’s part
StreetDocs Technically, it's very much on the brink of being a legal judgement considering he was only 18 when they met ...
Also, yes, my guy.... some people have morals. I know, I know... could not be you. 😂

Hoping that wig at least gets a nod for best supporting actor.
"It's not going to happen; get a hobby" is such a powerful statement
"And her wig is starting to look good....." LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!
Yeah their situation is definitely not the same as other age gap relationships
Yeah I despise him sorry u fans I’m not sure if it’s ok nor ehw
Agreed. This example made me cringe 😬
“Has Romy met her match? She doesn’t know she needs to go to the countryside estate!!”
👁️👄👁️
I don't think her husband is necessarily bad in bed but just simply wasn't sexually compatible with his wife.
As a lesbian all i can say is ..older Women are hot. people who say women Hit the Wall with 30 are tripping
Thats something only a lesbian would say.
I think Nicole is prettier than the younger RUclipsr girl
The clip of Kim jong un and Putin 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I hated in the movie when he says “you look like a mom” in a derogatory way 🤮
I got the impression that Samuel felt rejected on some level & said that out of anger.
sounds like they shoe-horned in christmas to justify the release date or something
I'm glad that this movie worked for some people. But I clearly was not the intended audience because it for me was just a boring movie. But again, I'm glad this found the right audience.
I thought it was just a mistake that the Nicole Kidman ad was missing because they played the laser amc intro twice in my showing 😅
Thank you omgggg i expected to GAG for this movie but it made me physically sick. I HATED the AI warehouse parts, nicole kidman cannot move her face bruh and overall i just hated every single choice she made I was sitting in the theatre w a stomachache from how icky i felt

BRUH AND THE DOG SCENES WERE CRAZY CUT THE CAMERAS DEADASS

@nadiuhh98can’t you say all side characters are “side pieces to fix the main character’s problems”?
loved this, subscribed :)
SAMUEL. This is a WENDY'S.

holy shiiiiit its a wig!
thought i was crazy thinking that she looked so much better in the first scene compared to the rest of the movie
You are so fun!!! Great review ❤
Thank u for this review
Girl, you had me howling. Thank you for the hilarious and spot on review - couldn’t agree more haha
Enjoyed this review so much, so entertaining.
this is my new fave channel just from this video thank you
Another thing to note regarding the point of 'this would not have happened before the cheating' is that something significant has to happen in someone's life for them to start thinking about it, communicating and making a change in their life
Great analyses, also mentioning the being send to Japan, that was a good detail to add.
I just found you and I love you so much!!!
I love your take!
You are so funny, I loved this
You are amazing! I’m gonna binge your videos with my screenwriter husband this weekend.
You’re really really funny!!
Confusing storyline. Inconsistent characters. Pamphleteering. No climax. Disappointing movie.
Girl, loved watching you 😍
I love this movie he is so hot
"This man simply can't win" 😭

Fulfilling her needs later on*
Was* not waw* (sorry everyone!!)
I enjoyed this! I would also sort of like want to see Antonio Banderas have "relations" with a chair.😊
agree a lot i was like "ok" until he licked the milk off
too far!
Why do u have almond milk if you don’t like almond milk!
@Mrbarryofhollywood my partner likes it 😭
@ lol.
The writer stole two scenes one when she runs back from the door and she runs back for their first embrace. (Unfaithful)
Another when she comes home and her lover is in her house. (Fatal Attraction).
So I did not like she the writer stole those scenes.
Why would anyone be walking to the pool during winter?
@lahaza6515 my reasoning exactly and yet everyone is doing it in this movie
@alyssawatchesmovies 😂
It's coming out on streaming tomorrow & I cannot wait to see it, but I'm sure I'll also wonder why they're taking pool trips with coats on!
cute review
Also you hate babygirl and i didnt until i just now saw someone on twitter call some girl "shes so baby" so you know what now i do too
Girl, i love your analysis and the video, but you gotta let that Xmas go 😂 it's not that relevant to the plot!
What i wondered at the end was... was she really having a good time with her husband, or was she again faking it, being back to her people pleasing persona?
@OzmaOfOzz ooo love the theory--but ultimately I think that she finally got what she wanted from him in the bedroom so I don't think she was faking it
Girl you are so funny 🤣

Tourr review is cringe.
France's Macron is with his former teacher who is 23 or more years older. I wanted to like this movie. I was actually bored in parts. Oh well...
Great review. I gave this movie a 2/10. This movie was kind of a disappointment.
Another entertaining and insightful review. I was afraid this was going to be a 50 SHADES ripoff. Sounds like they tried to be a little more character-based, even if they weren't entirely successful in the execution.

what is the relevant of wig to the story?????....when the story not about wig!!!!!!
You know,I think You look like Sunday Rose Kidman Urban…Same beautiful eyes 👀.
Im preparing to debate a friend on this movie cuz we completely disagree thank you for giving me some points!
Keith calls her baby girl ! Married 19 years ! Homes in country ! Farther is Antony Kidman well known pedi cult ring leader in Australia . Does eyes wide shut . Bad take
No offense but this movie went over your head. It went over a lot of heads.
There were no real consequences of nicole kidman's actions. Maybe that's what didn't work for me in this movie.
That was the whole point of the movie! An older woman can have it all. Reversing the trope.
@rp6582 she can have whatever she wants. But cheating shouldn't have had no consequences.
you're so funny
You didn’t mention the scene where she goes to the restaurant where Samuel works and he gave her the boot talk about humiliating!
It also bugged me when he would tell her not to touch him or that she looked like a mom and he wasn’t into that.
i think i legit repressed that scene from my mind because of how intense the secondhand embarrassment was
nah age gap relationships are cringe either way.. less cringe than 18 and 50 still 25 is quite young and i rlly dislike this notion that youthfullness is desirable, age gap between 30 and 50 or 40 and 60 cool imo yall both wrinkly good for yall...also harris dickinson is 28 so closer to 30 than 25 maybe thts why it doesnt look that weird...just saying its cringe not immoral bc ofc two adults...yada yada. really liked ur review btw
Didn't know 30 was wrinkly, lol. I'm in my mid twenties and I'm already feeling old because of you "kids." You think life shuts down at 29. Sad.
in what world is 30 wrinkly like did you really think there is a massive difference in looks between 25 and 30
Respectfully, you must be fourteen if you think 30 is “wrinkly.” 🥴
Emphasis on the cringe, praising a movie about a pathetic person hurting everyone around her is embarrassing and revealing
Brilliant film if you thought it was cringe you didnt understand it
Half an hour of godawful takes in the most unlistenable delivery possible
"A guy you don't wanna date. But you wanna have an affair with"

@eweidenkeller1 Invitation Declined.
@Forgottengs2ddess You'll see soon enough.

this was the best failgirl movie I've ever seen
don't appreciate them putting me on blast like that
We love representation in media
Please look up the correct pronunciation of Halina ✨Reijn✨as a dutch person I was a bit shocked
Oop sorry!! I will nail the pronunciation when I cover her next project
Get over it. I live in The Netherlands and Dutch people mispronounce every name not Dutch all the time. Including mine.
