Mick is one of my favorite mixers alive. I'm a young engineer in LA who has always looked up to Mick, not only as an engineer but also as a kind soul. I'd be lucky to be as half as accomplished as this man. I really hope I can speak to him one day and tell him how much he means to me. Or write him a letter
Glad Mick answered the question I had for over 10years, the snare reverb that he used on power ballads he mixed in late 90s / early 2000s. The answer is at 3:07:54. Thank you Mick and PureMix team!
Soooo bummed I missed this. Mick is one of my favorites. I actually think PureMix should try to get him to do something with the stuff he did in the late 80's and early 90's in R&B, with the very ambient and lush sounds. I feel like that's a lost art and Mick was the best at it.
I think Daft Punk had the budget for their final album from their hit album Discovery which was an international cult classic also due to to the fact that it was turned into a full length music video anime movie that plays through the entire album & is animated by a legendary retro anime artist Leiji Matsumoto(creator of Galaxy Express 999 & Captain Harlock). Then add in the fact that they were then co-signed by some of the top rappers into nerdy stuff(hence the collabs & sampling w/ Pharrell, Kanye, & Teriyaki Boyz). Throw in the fact that they lived quiet lives thanks to their masked identities as artists so its no surprise they saved their money & could fund a large portion if not all of their budget for RAM. Sadly i didnt really care for RAM though the concept was nice...Discovery is still their best album for me...the baton has since been handed off to the fellow french band Justice imho lol.
3 hours of small talk AND they get people's praise for it. People will get absolutely nothing from you and will still praise you because you made stuff
Had the chance to talk with mick a few times, was always to much of a wussy. Spent nights before going over things to say not to sound dumb. Come to find out…. Sean just talked the whole time anyway

Absolutely. Mick's 90's R&b records are some sonic masterpieces. The mixes he did on Jodeci's 'Forever my Lady' album are crazy.

there are not just kids here Mr. Scheps. We lived through the 70's specifically Jimi Hendrix era etc ...

Ok
It`s so funny when audio guys have such a bad audio quality in this video ... how can they be credible ...
