    I own a couple of fender custom shop bases and won a Sire bass from Scott Devine. I think it retails for around $800 normally so about a 1/6th of the CS bass. Stunning instrument, the intonation is perfect, the frets are PRS quality, rolled fretboard edges and quality parts. Pickup sound is lovely and even the battery cover is high quality wood which is more than you get on a PRS this side of wood library. It’s genuinely as good as instruments several times the price.
    Completely made me rethink my view of affordable instruments.

Complaints tend to be related to the occasional QC issue (which virtually all guitars are subject to from time to time), or a matter of subjective taste in sound or design. Generally speaking, they do exactly what they are designed to do and do it for a price that is almost hard to believe.

      @Quiksilver no, even looking at the video you can see that Sire guitars and basses are serious professional instruments without the premium price tags. This should be a rude awakening for the big (Fender, Ibanez - to an extent, Yamaha, Gibson) manufacturers. It shows that for a very long time people have been paying for a name on a headstock. But as far as I can see Sire are making that point much more loudly and clearly than any other alternative manufacturers. They have sick quality and very beautiful classic styling. The hardware is amazing, the pickups have a very unique, professional and refined sound. The guys here are comparing them to musicman. That's a serious compliment. They are legit. And just look at those roasted maple necks. Absolutely gorgeous. I'm selling my Fender Jazz Bass and my Ibanez SR too. Getting one four string Sire and keeping my Schecter Stiletto Studio 6. If Sire did a left handed six string bass I'd probably sell the Schecter too. I actually prefer the sound of the Sire pickups and those maple necks are just astounding to look at.

    • @walterwhite2640
      @walterwhite2640 3 года назад

      @Quiksilver that's a dumb statement considering the fact that Sire has endorsements from two of the best players on guitar and bass in Larry Carlton and Marcus Miller. Ive heard and seen these instruments being played many times. Everyone who picks one up has nothing but good words to say about them. If you handed a Sire instrument to a good musician without letting them know where it was made or how much it cost and asked them to play it for a while and then provide an estimate on the value, they would come back to you with a figure three times higher than the retail price. They are just that good. And frankly the fact that you're here shitting all over them makes me think you're either just trolling because you're a loser, or because you suck at whatever instrument you play and you were suckered into buying a Fender or a Gibson at your local music store and it's now become a very expensive paperweight.

    • @walterwhite2640
      @walterwhite2640 3 года назад +2

      @Quiksilver Squiers are shit, Harley Bentons are too. And I've played both. Yes, they're cheap, like the Sires. The difference is that Fender are cashing in on the affiliation that Squiers have (being the cheap version of Fender). And they are horrendously overpriced even at retail when compared to Sire instruments. Harley Bentons are probably priced OK. By OK I mean they're cheaper than most Squiers which makes sense because they suck. But what's funny is that the Squiers are actually worse than the HBs. Cheap knock-off parts on them. Only difference is Fender owns the factory making the knock-off hardware so they save on shipping. Most budget basses suck. That's just a fact. But in the case of Sire they're at least doing something right, it seems. Sure, the hardware is their own. But quality wise it's better than the crap you get on other budget instruments. And really it's annoying to hear people parroting the same tired nonsense about the hardware being "cheap" because it's not Dunlop or Bartolini pickups or they don't use Gotoh tuners or some crap. Without some kind of actual test of the hardware (strip down and weigh it on a scale and compare the materials and construction to something widely regarded to be great) it's just a claim with no evidence. Statements like that have no substance and when you hear them from people who review instruments on a regular basis, chances are there are financial motivations behind a lot of them. Ever notice how you never see these same reviewers actually strip down an instrument and compare them like for like with say a Fender or a G&L? Because if they did you'd see where the bigger brands also cut corners. And that would be bad press which might affect how much these people get paid. And I would be more hesitant than you to knock a budget brand. I have a Schecter Stiletto Studio 6 and I have to say, quality wise it's amazing. I only paid £1000 for it brand new and in terms of what you get (mahogany body, bubinga top, neck thru construction, 18v active pre-amp, high quality satin finish, double graphite truss rod, gold hardware 35" scale and EMG pickups) its a steal. I mean if I were to look for something equivalent from one of the bigger manufacturers I'd probably be paying 3 times as much and more than likely wouldn't notice a difference in terms of quality. And btw the problems that some people claim to be having with some of these budget instruments are likely down to where they were made and not necessarily who is making them. It's a well known fact that Ibanez uses a South Korean factory for some of it's cheaper but still fancy RG guitars. That's how they can keep the quality up and the price low. South Korean factories are basically on par with Japanese guitar factories now. So if you buy a Sire do some research and make sure you get something that was made in South Korea. My Schecter was made there and it's the best instrument I've ever picked up and I've been to my local music stores and checked out Fenders, Musicmans etc. They play about the same as my Schecter in terms of feel and the build quality is about the same (though some of them have fancy little additions like binding, which looks nice but doesn't make a difference in any other respect). The difference? They cost way more and for the most part don't look as nice. And I've owned other "budget" instruments. I have a MIM Fender Jazz Bass. Compared to my Schecter it's a piece of shit. Even after I modded it with new tuners, a hipshot, new bridge and DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pickups, it still doesn't hold a candle to the Schecter. Don't get me wrong it's ok. But the quality just isn't the same. I've owned Yamaha's, Fender American Standard Basses, Ibanez SRs, Cort basses (which are actually surprisingly good). All of which were great but no any better than my Schecter and the majority of them way more expensive. It's not always all about what name you have on your headstock.

Same rolled edges and perfect fret ends on a beautifully roasted maple neck.
    They've also fixed the treble bleed circuit that some pointed out was diminishing the volume when rolled down.

      Don’t like the top horn on the “S Type”, looks a bit too long and pointy or the headstock and lower horn on the “LP Type”, just don’t look right!
      Like the 335 style though, nicest of the bunch for me!

    I just got my L7 (TS) and I have to say it's absolutely top quality. I have owned many guitars especially Gibson.
    Incredibly good pickups for any genre. The body is a bit thinner (46mm) than the Gibson, which is just a good thing. Neck width 43.43mm, nice C-profile one piece mahogany, head stock angle about 14 degrees (again a better thing than in Gibson).
    Modern neck joint is so easy to play.
    Alnico5 bridge pickup output DC 7.81k and neck 7.55k.
    I have a Slash Les Paul with Alnico2 APH-2S pups with 8.9k and 7.83k. But Sire has at least as much power. Weight about 3.8kg. Btw pots are made in Korea so no cheap China stuff.
    And what a price. Thank you Sire!

    Don't forget Larry used Valley Arts S style guitars in the 80s, and these Sire ones sound very similar, as the boys said, very 'studio'. And of course Larry is synonymous with his 335, but also has been using LP style guitars in more recent years for his bluesey stuff. So he covers the full gamut, and is thus the perfect ambassador for the Sire range.

    Bought one in Andertons on Saturday just gone, went in to find a strat type guitar to fill a gap. Can't believe the quality for the price, no idea how Sire achieve this price point. What an insanely good guitar, even at three times the price this instrument would hold its own.

    I like how the bridge and tailpiece on the hollow body are further apart than on a regular 335-style. Just like on Larry Carlton’s famous 335.

    I was lucky that I pre-ordered one of the L7s and a kind of shot in the dark, which meant I got it for 449. Steal at that price, TonePros/Goto bridge and tailpiece, locking tuners, ebony fretboard, bone nut etc etc etc. A lot for the money. Pickups sound great too! I'm not going to lie, there's some imperfections so not better than guitars I have costing over 2k, but way better than say my £800 PRS.

    Got my H7 a few days ago. Out of the box it was very playable, no fret buzz, action height was good, and it sounds great. It is narrow at the nut, 1" 9/16th's SAE measurement. I have fat fingers, but can still play 1st position chords on it. It reminds me of a Byrdland neck in a way. It does weigh 8lbs 4oz, but finish is excellent and it just gets better the more I play it! Best guitar you can get for the price!
