  • Kubo Express tells a sweet of story of Rene and his family who migrated from the Philippines to America. They put their talents of cooking and hospitality to the test by working in different places and sometimes working two jobs. It was hard. Hospitality is always hard and difficult for the ones providing it and delight for those reaping the fruits of the ones serving. Rene is not shy when is come proving it.
As I often say, the American dream does exist, but there are two factors that often discourages many, including Americans themselves. One, you first have to have a few nightmares before you have that sweet American dream. Two, the American dream is all perspective with different paths leading to different finish lines.
In this case, Rene's dream was to bring the family over, take advantage of the opportunities here and build his own restaurant, Kubo Express.
From Manila favorites to sweet treats, Rene has a little bit of everything. It all taste great and it's all executed perfectly. Mix this in with Rene's jolly charisma and welcoming smile and you have a recipe for success.
I came here to try something new. No plan. No path. Didn't know what to do so I guess it din't really matter what I did. The menu however, choose that path for me and I found my self in a journey trying different Filipino deserts that for a lack of a better word, changed me. Look, I am a sweet guy without a sweet tooth. An extrovert that perhaps has been too reserved in all my videos. But these deserts are $%#^&* awesome!!!

Please ask a Native on how to pronounce the ingredients. Put a little emphasis on the pronunciation, it's just respectful. People appreciate and shows you are trying. Show and explain the layers inside. Fish sauce - (Patis) is what you taste in the Mongo beans. Puff rice is what the crunch you ate on top of the Ube- (OO0- BEH). Glad you are enjoying the food of the Philippines.

Thank You for the feedback! I agree and appreciate it. In other videos and in the description section I have asked for this feed back and make it clear I don’t know everything and would like to learn with you, the viewer, so thank you for your words. :))
However, I don’t mean any disrespect. Ever. If this channel is anything, It’s , to show others the wonderful foods and culture of the worlds. Food for me is a healer, a joiner and the protagonist for peace. The word restaurant means something along the lines of restoration or to restore. Being from Florida the whole world is there and little by little one gets to know other countries, cultures and foods. My journey with other foods other than the ones I grew up eating is still growing and purposefully, I do little research before hand so you the viewer can get the most genuine expression of me. That honesty lacks a lot on many content creators and it’s something I refuse to do on food that I don’t know. Both my experiences, expressions and pronunciations and knowledge will be different in each video, with also the hopes of getting better each time in showing the wonderful food I eat.
