- Kubo Express tells a sweet of story of Rene and his family who migrated from the Philippines to America. They put their talents of cooking and hospitality to the test by working in different places and sometimes working two jobs. It was hard. Hospitality is always hard and difficult for the ones providing it and delight for those reaping the fruits of the ones serving. Rene is not shy when is come proving it.
As I often say, the American dream does exist, but there are two factors that often discourages many, including Americans themselves. One, you first have to have a few nightmares before you have that sweet American dream. Two, the American dream is all perspective with different paths leading to different finish lines.
In this case, Rene's dream was to bring the family over, take advantage of the opportunities here and build his own restaurant, Kubo Express.
From Manila favorites to sweet treats, Rene has a little bit of everything. It all taste great and it's all executed perfectly. Mix this in with Rene's jolly charisma and welcoming smile and you have a recipe for success.
I came here to try something new. No plan. No path. Didn't know what to do so I guess it din't really matter what I did. The menu however, choose that path for me and I found my self in a journey trying different Filipino deserts that for a lack of a better word, changed me. Look, I am a sweet guy without a sweet tooth. An extrovert that perhaps has been too reserved in all my videos. But these deserts are $%#^&* awesome!!!

Hahaha “to the 7th power” awesome!
That biko(sticky rice)and the cassava cake is good to pair with coffee or tea❤
Someone else mentioned that too, is that popular combination? I’m The bitterness from the coffee or tea would be a good balance with the sweetness.
That would be nice in breaktime
They're all my favorite, biko, cassava cake, and halo-halo. Love them all.
If you want dessert ya cassava is my favorite, leche plan, and ube.
In the Philippines, i like going to Razons and chowking for their halo halo.
Thank you so much for letting me know;))
The buko halo is best
You got the best combo right there, My favorite combo, Monggo soup and Lechon Kawalii. paired with Sawsawan(dipping sauce) usually Soysauce, Vinegar, chopped garlic, onions and Calamansi or lemon, add some chilis and you got there the best food.
I will say that was a great combo. A lot of Filipino restaurants have the best combos in comparison to any other food!
and the sauces just take things to a new level of deliciousness!
Usually that's cassava plan the true cassava cake its little whiter and try yema roll, typing, leche plan, palitaw, puto bungbong, ilokano empanada, Sapin sapin, bilo bilo, fruit salad, maid conyelo, minatamis na saging, Turon, kamote que, a lot etch .....
I will look for these. Turon I’ve had in another video i did and loved it!! Thank you for the recommendations!!:)

WHEN YOU EAT FILIPINO FOOD YOU'LL EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT AFTERWARDS.....
YOU'RE BODY WILL BE UNIQUE BECAUSE FILIPINO FOOD IS UNIQUE.
Fun fact the leche plan introduces in early 80's in San Francisco then Safeway want to have it but she cannot produce it so that's the history of egg custard copy cat...
Interesting, that is a fun fact, thanks for sharing!!
Halo-halo means mix-mix
Haha makes perfect sense. Dang it, I’ve been eating it wrong. I’ll have to do a video of just that. 😂
Sticky rice coconut milk and sugar thats bico .
I feel like to eat, while watching this
Good! :))
Esting halihalo mix first all things
You need to mix and mix everything about halo halo unril almost melted before you eat
Not neccesarily, especially with the commercial halo halo that put the toppings on top and not in the bottom.
Interesting takes.
I’ve been told both as well. I’ll give it a try.
That cassava goes well with coffee

May i know where Kubo Express is located?
Yes, it’s located in Mill Creek, it’s in the Salt Lake City, Utah area.
Put that munggo on rice. 👌
Great idea!!!
Wow where is this
This is Mill Creek about 15 eat of Salt Lake City;)
Kakaiba naman un it changed his life daw😂
Please ask a Native on how to pronounce the ingredients. Put a little emphasis on the pronunciation, it's just respectful. People appreciate and shows you are trying. Show and explain the layers inside. Fish sauce - (Patis) is what you taste in the Mongo beans. Puff rice is what the crunch you ate on top of the Ube- (OO0- BEH). Glad you are enjoying the food of the Philippines.
Also, try to learn a little conversation with the people. It's heartwarming when you engaged with the locals.
Thank You for the feedback! I agree and appreciate it. In other videos and in the description section I have asked for this feed back and make it clear I don’t know everything and would like to learn with you, the viewer, so thank you for your words. :))
However, I don’t mean any disrespect. Ever. If this channel is anything, It’s , to show others the wonderful foods and culture of the worlds. Food for me is a healer, a joiner and the protagonist for peace. The word restaurant means something along the lines of restoration or to restore. Being from Florida the whole world is there and little by little one gets to know other countries, cultures and foods. My journey with other foods other than the ones I grew up eating is still growing and purposefully, I do little research before hand so you the viewer can get the most genuine expression of me. That honesty lacks a lot on many content creators and it’s something I refuse to do on food that I don’t know. Both my experiences, expressions and pronunciations and knowledge will be different in each video, with also the hopes of getting better each time in showing the wonderful food I eat.
@@starvingformoredon’t worry about it you are fine. I’m a filipina too and when I travel lots of word I can’t pronounce either so you’re not disrespectful just because you didn’t say it well.
Who told you to eat those
My gut hahaha 😂 no one, I wanted to try new Filipino dishes I’ve never had before. Which do you recommend?
