I mean honestly people say buy vintage but after having bought two older Sony cameras and finding problems in both of them past the point you can return on eBay i don't know what's worse. People never take into account that with a second hand camera you never know when it's going to just stop working cause it's old
@@camera-guy yeah with little disposable income the failure of two cameras I paid $100+ for put me off vintage Sony digital cameras. For $200 I could have bought a dfcdng new camera miles above the "vivitar" camera you reviewed. Still I found the advice of just adding a filter to be very solid advice. The average person just wants a few cool pictures and that's by far the easiest and most economical way to achieve that goal👍
Funny how they’re selling these cameras at 30 bucks when you could go to your local boot sale and buy 10 of them for like 5 bucks. What makes them nostalgic to me is the absolutely blinding flash that ruins the photo.
Worst part is I went back and saw they flew off the shelf at walmart. 100% about the flash thing. I think I forgot to talk about it in the vid, but the flash on this thing is for advertising more than function.
oh no vivitar has become a chinesium ghost company (the designed some really nice lenses and made very good filters back in the day my main uv filter on my konica hexanon 55mm is a vivitar multicoated uv haze filter with a built in collapsible lens hood) it makes me sad every time i see a once great name on slop e-waste
This looks and performs exactly like the Walmart brand camera I was gifted in 2008, a pretty embarrassing disappointment at the time. Kind of hilarious the product is still around.
It's autofocus only. Unfortunately, most of these cheaper cameras tend to have poor image quality, due to being made with parts closer to a Webcam than actual camera. That said, keep practicing, learn it's limitations, and just enjoy photography! Limitation breeds creativity, plus it'll be all the nicer if you ever upgrade to something better!
Honestly you're better off just buying a different camera, I haven't watched the whole video yet, but I bet this camera has a worse sensor than the average cheap phone of today
The IR mode looks like they were trying to replicate what you would see on a full spectrum camera with an IR/Blue NDVI filter or, to a lesser extent, a 590nm filter before processing. Don't know why they would choose that over faking deep IR black and white.
Atleast they are not charging several hundred for disposable garbage like the cannon t100 or literally all mainstream phones, atleast the t100 and this vivitar has a easily replaceable battery.
The T100 is one of those thing where you have to wonder how it made it to production. Yes, let's make a WORSE T7 for about the same money! And then keep selling it once the similarly priced R100 released!
7:16 I wonder if these are actually IR pictures. After all, as long as the camera doesn't have an IR cut filter, it can take IR images, so it's not imposible for this e-waste camera to be able to do so.
It could be possible, but they would have to put in some sort of device to move the IR filter. If it did take real IR photos, it would actually be a really good value to people who may be interested in that.
My dad bought me a higher end model of these that was meant to be good and 4k for Christmas and a used hf10 for same price is probably better. I feel bad for just getting rid of the camera though 😕
Your video style is so dank pods, and i love it. I think youi can compress the video a little more to make it shorter and a lil more engaging! Keep it up, left you a sub and excited to see you next vids !
6:50, probably for someone that wants to overlay the Red, Green and Blue photos on top of each other and give them color, probably a weird kid on Instagram too
Vivitar used to be a good quality camera but now it seems like they are almost like a Chinese nock off and I remember as a kid some of these point and shoot cameras used to be good quality almost like my old ge 14.1 m140 digital camera
Yeah they died early 2000s and were bought out by another company who uses their name to sell crap. It's a shame too considering some of their old stuff is really good.
@camera-guy I think someone should buy out Vivitar and make the cameras good again being I do think some people still want a low cost camera but still looks great for the money
You can take 100 photos on it internally, however, only at the lowest resolution. You also can't do video. It has trouble picking up high storage SD cards, so I'd recommend picking up a 16gb micro SD for cheap.
Adobe lightroom? Should be on the app store. I will say that I didn't realize they lock their presets behind a subscription, so I'm looking for another app that has that type of thing to recommend.
i actually have a problem with this, i have everything needed like the SD card for it, and when i try to take a picture it literally just won’t take it as much as i click the button, any advice??😭
It's hard to say without looking at it. Is it new? I doubt it's a setting, but you may reset the camera to see. Otherwise it may be broken? Again, hard to say without seeing it.
those cheap „200 megapixels digicams” are such a rip off, literally take and actual old digicam that shoots 4 megapixels and the quality is better! plus they actually are vintage and look so partially due to their CCD sensors
Unfortunate You may be able to return it depending where you bought it from? Some places have a very generous refund policy that let you send if back if you simply aren't satisfied. If that's the case, you could try it out, and if you don't like it, send it back.
You mean SD card? If so, it refused to take all of my good ones, so I had to use a cheap no-name 16gb card. It takes Micro SD as well so be careful of that
@@camera-guy thank you, I did mean sd and yeah I tried the high ones but then tried the 2gb but I’m glad to know the 16 works for more storage. I appreciate it
not him roasting tf out of the camera i iust bought🥲
Yikes
(Hope you enjoy the camera though, I know I reviewed it poorly, but at the end of the day this is all subjective!)
@@camera-guy haha thank you. even if it's a piece of crap at least it was a cheap piece of crap!

The VGA quality makes it look like it was taken on a Nintendo DSi, though I’m rather surprised there isn’t any purple fringing on the darker areas

Rookie mistake
weird flex but okay.

Idc about the quality . I want something that looks worse , but my problem is I been charging this thing for an hour and it won’t turn on 😂😂
I’m confused as how to make the pictures look good on this camera😭 and no clue how to focus or if I even can focus before taking the pic

I just picked Minolta DiMage X20 in our local thrift store for $12 that have 2 megapixel in it. That is better than the vivitar camera.
Ahh Vish!tar aka more landfill. A nugget worthy of getting a One Grit on it.

imagine if major camera brands decided to jump on digicam trend?
I could see some of them going after the same market as the Fuji X100, but I doubt anything like the pocketable point and shoots and such.
