Ah yes! Mr Franklin Tactics was a pioneer in many ways. I heard that F Scott Fitzgerald plagiarized much of an unpublished work of his into what we now know as The Great Gatsby, but this could have simply been a rumor. Interestingly enough, Mr Tactics’ second cousin was none other than Theodore Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.

7:36 Ultimate respect goes to the (what sounds like) 6-year old kid who recognizes a Paul Morphy puzzle. That kid is certified.

Bertrand Russell’s “On The Regressive Method of Discovering The Premises of Mahematics” argues that mathematical logic is the result of applying reverse engineering, as explained here by Finegold in chess, to pure maths (e.g., The Peano Axioms). It’s a nice, short paper and gives good insights on how foundational work looks like in mathematical logic, philosophy of mathematics and set theory.

I mean...at 12:43 when the computer won't let Ben play an illegal move just because it's check...psh. Doesn't the computer know he's a grandmaster?
Also - How is a tactic born?
Well, when a king and a queen love each other very much...

He might have been thinking of Procal Harum in relationship to the colour white because of their song Whiter Shade of Pale, the best version of which (imho) is a live performance on soprano sax by King Curtiss (used at the opening scene of the film Withnail and I.

Interesting that she is thought of as a possible vice president since she has never been in the running for this post as far as I know, her highest office being Secretary of State in the Obama administration, and that she had recently run for president when this video was filmed.

This reminds me of a trick I came up with as a kid and then I did it to someone online. 1. c4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. Nf3 Nb4 4. Nxe5 Qe7 5. Nf3 Nd3# I came up with it in your way of working backwards. I wanted an opening mate, and thought the easiest way to do that would be some sort of smothered mate, and looked for ways to get smothered mate with a knight, and this is what I found.

Everybody in the audience thinking: " - Now you shut the Hell up Ben! Will you tell us that you and Karen have a secret tactics-oven in your kitchen where you experiment with all that?"
