I really love the way the sleep alarm is triggered aft, above the bunk ... but the kill switch is forward, on the other side of the cockpit LOL so you have to actually be up and walking across the cabin to kill it
Highlighted reply Boris Herrmann 1 day ago Thanks for following - we are an Alex fan too don't worry. Alex, all the best from the Highlands of Scotland, received this reply from Boris, he is a top bloke and cool as a cucumber.
Fantastic Alex, so good for you to do this Q & A session. Can’t wait to see your first albatross, you know then you are truly in the Southern Ocean. I don’t think you are too distant from these fantastic birds, they sleep and fly at the same time too !!! All the best, fair winds, keep safe, push hard.
A fantastic insight in to day to day life on board. Does make us feel like we are riding along with you. Keep it up and give us a wave when you pass the southern part of Australia 👍
Brilliant. Your humor and humbleness, your love of family, your tenacity, your thin skin ( meant most admiringly). Challenge on Alex. I have enjoyed, (and cried about) your story, and am following fiercely. Count me as a HUGE FAN! SOLDIER ON!
Fantastic segment there, taking the time to answer questions while racing. It's a pity the Organisers of this race are not as switched on as you are regarding the amount of English catered for in the race. Go Alex, sail fast, sail safe.
I’ve not got a scooby about sailing or the ‘vendee globe’... but watching this bloke bounce around in a tin can has become my new favourite pass time. More power to you mate, whatever you’re up to.
Sail well .. and safe passage . It is a pleasure to watch you . In your major Tom can . Chasing desire . I wish for you The very best . May the ocean treat you kindly .
One of te great Gentleman , I would love a Alex Victory, as a sort of justice, but justice is rare and versatil . Go ahead Sir Alex, Thomas is very fast , there is no beautifull victory without a perfect challenger!!
Yes absolutely awesome...many of those questions were ones I had myself. He's a good guy! Love the Christmas cake treat .... haha I can imagine you lying on your bean bag stuffing Christmas cake into you between the shudders of the boat. I follow you every day morning and night. All of you sailors are the most incredible individuals. I'm just trying to imagine a sail boat travelling at 40 knots....it must hum....quite mad really. Good winds dude.
Thoroughly enjoying your videos Alex, brilliant that you have the time to answer all the questions. First thing I check in the morning is your progress followed by how Ben's training sessions are going in Auckland...then I make a coffee. Keep it up, fantastic being able to follow you.
You’re doing great, Alex! Watching your journey from Chicago and I’m terribly jealous. Looking forward to your Southern Ocean stretch. Fair winds and following seas, captain.
Thank you Alex. Such a great way to interact with all of us around the world watching the Vendee, by far the most incredible sporting challenge. Mind yourself.
I agree entirely with what John Van Slyke below said. It is most unfortunate that HUGO BOSS has sustained some structural damage. Hopefully Alex will be able to REINFORCE the areas concerned to alow him to continue to the end of the race. He will have many miles to catch-up in the Southern Ocean which is going to be punishing on the boat and also on Alex. Continue Alex to do your best. We are all following your progress and willing you to win. Take care and STAY SAFE. - ALUN COOKE.
Alex, absolutely love that you can take the time with the sleep deprivation and stresses to update us mere mortals. Loving being able to follow the progress and wish you the very best of luck.
Great Q&A! Thank you for taking time for this and thank you for The Hub ... you and your team have put together great info that is informative and interesting!
Just from the appearance and name of the boat, I passed some judgment on you, but God are you well grounded and pretty nice guy when I took the time to watch. Good luck and rooting for you from the states!
Absolutely brilliant. Great questions there and well done Alex for taking the time to answer them. Really interesting to learn so much in such a short video too. Am amazed at how you constantly trim the main there, just be feel and love the way you ease the main, I wish mine were that easy. go go go Alex !!!
Hi Alex. Interesting to hear that the task you hate the most is getting the sails back in the sailbags. I feel exactly the same about getting the duvet into the duvet cover. Great questions and great answers. Good luck.
Alex, I had the pleasure of listening to you at the HSC fund raiser for Oarsome Chance Gosport, will you be raffling off your T-Shirts for the next fund raiser. Love watching your updates, you must be feeling epic...
Great Q&A ... The inside looks more like a space craft pod with you on an exercise bike ... this technology seems to be headed towards lift off completely ... we are from the stars ✨... many blessings 🌈 on having the absolute time of your life ... from Hawai’i 🌺
You must be saving energy not being beaten by the waves in an outside cockpit. Will you set an outside view for us to watch on u tube? I love to see the boat running across the ocean. God’s blessing for you and safety. From Georgia USA. 👍👏
Hi, Alex! So nice to see these interactions. Makes the race a little bit more humane, kinda brings us inside the boat in some sense! My question is: is there any sort of psichological follow up support after the race finishes? It seems to me that there is a high chance of some disorders after 70+ days of sleep deprivation, social distancing, the need for constant awareness and others altogether Thank you for your videos! Keep on going with high spirits! Wish you all the luck from Brazil 💚💛💙
Guess my mail question is,,, how do you deal with temperature in the cabin? And how do you change it? Guessing to go with that,,, doesn't everything fog up, and get wet inside even though you are not getting drenched from salt water!
What a terrific fellow and wonderful ambassador for the Vendee Globe and offshore sailing. Hear hear. Well done.
"40 knots is a bit scary". That must be the understatement of the race!
thanks for taking your time to answer us. What a man.
Brilliant, right?
Great Q&A, thank you Alex for making time for your fans and followers!
Some cracking questions there and thanks for taking the time to answer Alex
Amazing. Keep going and make us all proud.

😅 I am a recently retired fisherman, and I could tell you horror stories from the helmsman chair! Worthy of Graham Norton 🙌
