- Stunning rock carvings and statues, created between 9th and 13th centuries nearby Chongqing, China. The main cluster at Baodingshan (shown in the video) has more than 10,000 carvings with Buddhist and Taoist themes, very well preserved and with high aesthetic quality.
Recorded April 2018 in 4K Ultra HD with Sony AX100.

The ancients knew. They knew the rocks were of Gods doing. They knew the rocks were alive. Took me 53 years to realize but it’s all gods doing. In all my life I’ve never seen a rock “push up” from the ground. The earth is littered with biblical creatures. I am lucky and blessed to know this. Awesome job yet again. Amazing footage. I learned that, in 3-D modeling, you deal with EIGHTEEN PARAMETERS...shape, color, luster, reflectiveness, smoothness....to make a visually credible object. Your brain is processing those 18 simultaneously on EVERY object in your field of view. Now go back and look at those carvings.

FYI, In the 12th century, during the Song dynasty, a Buddhist monk named Zhao Zhifeng began work on the elaborate sculptures and carvings on Mount Baoding, dedicating 70 years of his life to the project.

Call me crazy but I can see the Elder Dragon God there (or Quetzalcoatl named here on ancient Mesoamerica), and i can see some mayan style on the older carvings too. Im not saying they were the same people, but surely there was a connection between cultures. Anyway amazing work for the acient people, how great and wise they were.
I always have a fascination with ancient places with historical value. Your videos present such places in amazing view..

China has become an interesting country for me especially after this pandemic. I didn't think I would ever want to go to China because I thought it would be similar to India. But I guess it is not! I am so ignorant. I want to visit or live in China now, for few years!

Most were made from year 960 to 1278. The earliest ones were made in year 650.

I used to have a girlfriend from Chongqing. No matter how much one thinks they understand when having bi-lingual conversations, it's not always what you think. She told me Chongqing is called the "Frog City," and I looked at the map and it does indeed have a huge river flowing through so I was OK with Frog City. I later learned from a Chinese English teacher the actual nickname was Fog City. Silly me!
