Im a little late to comment on this video but I really appreciate the love that was made in this set. This thing is huge and the fact that they include those season bricks all in one! Honestly I don't think I ever watched a whole episode of Gunsmoke but I love 50's and 60's television and I love westerns and Heath you know what your talking about when it comes to this stuff. I will take your word. This will be in my wish list for sure.
I just purchased this at $183.50, off of eBay, today! My dad was born and raised in Dodge City, and most of my relatives on my dad’s side are from Dodge as well. Gunsmoke was a very big part of my family’s life. I had been to Boot Hill three times. I am a very big fan of Gunsmoke and I so excited and eager to see my package arrive in the mail! Ugh, the waiting, LOL!!!
They have been releasing these for the last 8 years and I’ve been collecting all the seasons from paramount all these years. Then when they completed it I’m glad they released them in a box set but I wish they would reward all the people that have been supporting them that have been buying them over the years like selling a different box to complete ours where they all go in it. Just seems like something they should do. I realize I have all the box art from every season, just would like a sweet box to put them in. Just getting your thoughts on it. Love your videos and your passion for movies.
I think it would be a nice service to offer the people who have been supporting the line all along (and let’s be honest, making this box set possible) to option to either purchase or be sent a box that the single editions could fit into. As someone who supported Highlander the series on DVD in the early 2000s, this was a nice perk for those that completed all volumes. We could order a box to display them in.
True. I never purchased these and I"m glad I waited. Ended up costing me eight dollars a season. Got it on Deep Discount DVD with a 15 percent off coupon
Absolutely. Same for other series too. However, Gunsmoke is special because we are talking 20 years! I cannot justify this set as Ive spent way more than $180 on mine and its not complete.
So glad I could highlight it! It's another one of those shows I'll be watching when I'm 80 years old (hopefully). When syndicated TV has each hour-long episode cut down to 15 minutes for maximum commercial revenue, I'll have the uncut DVDs for my entertainment pleasure!
@@CerealAtMidnight Yes, I'm collecting so I have plenty to watch and study as I'm getting older. Good to have plenty of movies/TV shows around for when the mood strikes. Long live physical media!
That scratched disc truely breaks my heart, hope you can get a replacement. I actually still remember the exact moment over a decade ago, when I first dropped a steelbook and damaged it. It was never able to hold a disc after that incident and that I still remember it so vividly to this day, proves to me, how traumatic the event was. :'-(
I had one only but it plays OK. It's actually scuffed. Not bad considering how many disc are included. It was a floater when I opened it. It does play and it doesn't have any read errors.
Wow, that is amazing. I saw that all the sites ran out of stock which is great in terms that people are voting as you say to keep this type of format alive. Great video, keep up the good work.
Never seen "Gunsmoke" but this is a seriously impressive boxset! This is good news for physical media and I wonder if the complete "Bonanza" will be released?
I bought each of the individual yearly box sets which cost a fortune. Then I decided to order this complete box set from DeepDiscount.com. I pre-ordered it on April the 30th. I don't have it yet and the final season 20 individual set from them yet. I did assume a pre-order would ship first. I do indeed have OCD and on meds. I wanted both the box set and individual ones. It's quite a savings for people who want the less expensive complete box set over the individual ones. Also I have many of these shows on 16mm "low fade" LPP syndication film prints, since I am a film collector as well. I worry about loose discs in huge box sets like this. I hope for the best. I appreciate your enthusiasm for such a great historic television series. Thank you for taking all that time to show this wonderful historic box set to an historic television show. One which we will never ever see the likes of again. Sincerely Tom Pennock
tompennock I hated westerns, and this Gunsmoke growing up. Then my Dad moves in, then eventually I caught a couple episodes in a row as I was preparing and eating dinner with him.....HOOKED! There r funny silly episodes, there are serious AF episodes! And there are just some casual drama episodes. So u get a great mix of stuff. There are TONS of extra that I like to find and spot - “ HEY...that’s a young so and so “ !!!! And the writing...get outa here! It is way better than one would think! It is more intelligent and deep and exciting than it should be. As they got to the color episodes; they went with more of the town/county drama, rather than just Marshall Dillion most of the time. Which is one reason why the show went 20 years with movies! If they just had Marshall Dillion bottle episodes or just the main protagonist all the time , it would have got stale: nobody wants to eat pizza every day. The show would go into more story of the area, and other players in the county: Rich ranchers, railroad tycoons, other sheriffs from neighboring county’s, world affairs at times that framed the episode(s). Good stuff !
@@necron99.aka-sammyboy92 Thank's for the kind reply. Yes, it is a very enjoyable show. Still waiting to get my box set and in the mean time the season 20 single box set has been shipped. The writing on this show is good as well. Today it seems tv is so bad. Especially network tv. All Best, Tom
@@necron99.aka-sammyboy92 P.S. I forgot to mention that not too long ago I found out Ken Curtis (Festis) had a great singing voice. I was really surprised. Also the saloons in the show never show people eating food. Just drinking. I often wondered if they ever ate food in that town. :) Best, Tom
What a great video you made on the Gunsmoke DVD set. I am a year behind the timing here. I am definitely getting the set, but I will take my time and get the best value. Also to let you know I have a book on Gunsmoke called: Gunsmoke A Complete History by authors SuzAnne Barabas and Gabor Barabas, published in 1990. It also includes the radio program as well. Now that the complete series is out I will add the DVD's to the book. Thank again.
I love your glasses-they look like the kind that Michael Caine would wear in the seventies, I am thinking specifically of the film "Pulp". Looking good my friend.
My parents and I just recently started watching this on a TV channel that shows older shows. It's really good, we enjoy it. As for floater discs, I go to a mom n pop used game store and they buff the discs with their resurfacing machine they use for disc based games.
Just popping in to say this review really made we want to spring for the set. I enjoy the series but you're 100% on the money that physical releases of this type are golden and should be supported when possible. The price on Amazon shot up for awhile but the moment it went back to $169, I pulled the trigger. This is a magnificent collection and it has to have every version of the Epic Pack in this box! Great reviews, I love your channel and your content. Thanks!
Another cool thing about "Gunsmoke" is it began as a radio show. And both ran concurrently for a number of years. William Conrad (TV's Cannon) played Matt Dillon and Howard McNear (Floyd the barber on "The Andy Griffith Show") played Doc on the radio show. The radio show is amazing, BTW. Fun personal fact, "Gunsmoke" was still on air (just) when I was in first grade, and my lunchbox that year was a "Gunsmoke" lunchbox.
For those of you that hate or dislike Western TV shows...you will like or Love Gun Smoke!! I always hated seeing it on in the background, but when I sat down n watched a couple episodes in a row....I was hooked! And I still hate Bonanaza! The Virginian has some great episodes! But also some Boring ones. But Gun Smoke is great all the way! Just give it 3 episodes from the start. Skip ahead every 4 years and watch a couple ...you’ll get very interested!
I never ever watched westerns... and I was born in 1972... but I do remember this one being "different" than the others (if you will) the few I've seen I do vaguely remember not hating it...
The 30 minute black and white Chester episodes are by far my favorite. I could (and do) watch these episodes over and over!!! Festus was good. Quint, Thad, and Newly not so much. The characters, not the actors.
Dang that's huge! It'll take you a very long time to watch them all! 20 seasons! After I collect the last season of agents of shield, I'm done collecting tv shows on dvd! They're packed the same way the mission impossible and macgyver box sets are! Like bricks!
Have to keep a log sheet inside the cases to keep track of disc #/episode you left off at in between viewings. Haha. Seriously it helps. Had to do this with Rawhide.
Superb review. I love Gunsmoke and it was my dad’s favorite too. Brings back great memories for me. I’ve seen some reviews on Amazon (as of November 2021) that show some shoddy packaging which always worries me about these complete sets. I like the complete sets like The Three Stooges where each “season” is in its own dvd case. Again, thanks for reviewing this wonderful set. 👍
"GUNSMOKE" started out as a half hour show, and then expanded to an hour a season or two later, which accounts for the leap in capacity needs for the DVDs. When the show was put into syndication, the original half-hour episodes were retitled "MARSHAL DILLON" and sold separately from "GUNSMOKE" since they would have been harder to program with the hour episodes, and were in B&W and less in demand.
Some incredible episodes from the black and white episodes. Check out Treasure of John Walking Fox from Season 11 with Leonard Nimoy Directed by Marc Daniels. Both went onto the Star Trek. Another great episode is Hung High from Season 10. Directed by Mark Rydell.
I actually think I may prefer the black and white episodes. Like Rawhide and Have Gun Will Travel, there's something elegant about the western and the black and white TV format. Sixties color television shows are wonderful too, but they have a different vibe.
I was going to refute this claim. But I checked the deluxe edition of the Dark Shadows Coffin DVD Box Set, which I bought years ago on a Amazon Lightning Deal and it contains only 131 DVDs. Gunsmoke beats that set by 12 discs so, I guess you are correct. I made it through your video and realized that you reference this box set for Dark Shadows. :)
Gunsmoke fans: this set is now available via the Turner Classic Movies website store for $178 plus shipping, making it a well-worth-it $200 set. Amazon sells it at prices fluctuating between $380 and $500, from Amazon Sellers. It was on backorder when I found it on TCM. I requested and received an email notice when it was back in stock, about three weeks later. Well worth the wait at the TCM price. Packaged securely, it arrived undamaged and ready to watch.
Fantastic set. This is reportedly being discontinued. I decided to finally jump on this given the age of the programming and the fact it took 14 years just to remaster it to DVD and that it is being discontinued. These episodes are all remastered and look absolutely fantastic for being DVD. I upscale them to 4k in my UHD player. Looks great. The earlier seasons and even some of the B&W hour long seasons are still near impossible to find anywhere on streaming. Sometimes the established tek is the way to go. By some miracle I received all of mine perfectly secure with narry a "floater" found. I usually have the worst luck with big box sets. BTW an earlier released set that has PS Murry Christmas had, the very end pan out to the snow covered town and the Christmas chorus singing cut out completely. This set has it fully intact as well as other normally trimmed episodes being intact and as aired. Well, gotta go . . . Marshal Dillon Awaits!
I left the following on Coolduder's video where he discussed this - Gunsmoke trivia - Lead actor James Arness was the older brother of Mission Impossible lead actor Peter Graves. Also, he played the monster in The Thing From Another World. This was the first film version of "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell, later to be remade as John Carpenter's The Thing.
While it is true that James Arness was in every episode of the series, as the series started to wind down there a good number of episodes where he was only seen for a couple of minutes at the beginning of a show and only for a couples of minutes at the end. Arness loved to fly his Cessna any chance he could get and would encourage the writers to tailor the scripts so that Matt Dillon would not be around for very long.
I just watched this thanks to your recommendation from the Dark Shadows DVD set that was gifted to you. These sets are very impressive. The set I would love to see would be a complete Simpsons box set. Perhaps when the series is finally done? I have the individual seasons 1-20.but now that it's on Disney+ to stream, it seems they stopped making the DVD and BRD season sets which is unfortunate.
With Disney owning the Fox catalog and The Simpsons, I shudder to think what fate holds for that show on home media in the future. It would be amazing to see, though!
OMG! That is the definition of beast. That is some serious hours of viewing. You're looking very cool - Jim Morrison meets Kurt Russell meets Mark Hamill. TC bub.
Right, how do you know when a set will go out of stock? I spent a lot on “Bewitched” and “I Dream of Jeannie” only to see the entire series’s plummet to $20, while I did not pick up “ Three’s Company” that is now about $600! Mission Impossible has also increased substantially but is streaming in HD, so bought one season in HD. I did buy the dvd set fir Boston Legal and spent less than ten dollars for HD streaming of season five (only one for purchase), and you can no longer buy it on AMAZON.
Gun smoke has been scanned in HD. Shows on cable in HD....probably parts cut out fir syndication. ..but a lot of times when remastered for HD for streaming, will be followed by Blu-Ray.
What video? Update: looks like some of your posts were flagged by RUclips as spam, but it looks like you were mentioning The Inspiration Network. I don't have cable, so I will take your word for it.
@@CerealAtMidnight Yes, that happens sometimes. I wanted to show you so upload a video I took of my DirecTV grid: You can view the video here: ruclips.net/video/HWWZR_BIYK8/видео.html
Interesting. Now I have questions about the source of this, which we can't answer. Such as are these SD episodes upscaled to 720p or 1080p, when did Paramount make these versions, and if true HD episodes exist, why hasn't Paramount ever put them on disc, especially after releasing Gunsmoke only on DVD for the past 14 years, which covers the entire Blu-ray lifespan.
Cereal At Midnight the technical specs show “Gunsmoke” was filmed in 35 mm www.imdb.com/title/tt0047736/technical; there, sufficient source material for 4k, let alone 1080p. Good question regarding the absence of Blu-ray or streaming in HD; yet, the same can be said regarding other shows that have never been rescanned, and others that have; e.g., “Leave it to Beaver,” but Netflix dropped, no 1080p streaming, even for purchase. However, a lot of shows that have been streamed in HD on cable eventually make their way to Blu-Ray; e.g., “Charlie’s Angel’s,” “ Hogan’s Heroes,” “Columbo.” Japan is streaming both Columbo and Bewitched in 4k.
These definitely exist in HD. Paramount+ has seasons 7-8 in 1080p on their site and seasons 9-20 in 1080p through RUclips. The first six seasons are shown in 720p on INSP.
Can you report if the remastering quality of the early seasons in this complete set is the same transfer as on the individual season sets released 13 or so years ago? Great unboxing video, by the way!
I didn’t buy the original seasons (outside of the 50th anniversary collection), but I suspect it’s the exact same discs from all previous releases collected in new packaging.
Did you have any playback issues with any of the discs? Season 11, Volume 1, Disc 1 won’t play in any player. No scratches on the disc. Looks pristine. Do you know who I would contact for a replacement disc?
I haven’t gotten that far yet, but you should reach out to Paramount for a replacement or to report a concern. I don’t have an email for them, but they’re active on all social media sites. Good luck!
Emailed them and got an automated reply back stating they would get back to me. Will keep an eye out and report back what they say. Just wanted to pass it along in case others are experiencing disc playback issues as well.
I got a response back and they’re mailing me a free replacement disc. Paramount/CBS were great to deal with and I appreciate them making it right so quickly. Makes we went to stay a customer. Anyway, take care and as always, keep up the awesome videos man!
In the wake of all of these western starting to come to Blu-ray. I’m getting around to checking on gunsmoke. Even though it’s on DVD and it says that they’ve been remastered and restored, does it look like they’ve actually been restored? Thanks.
I know you commented this a year ago but I just got this set. It looks fantastic for DVD. I’m halfway through season one and I honestly can’t believe how good it looks. I watch a lot of tv shows on DVD and this ranks near the top of great transfers. I’m watching it on my 65” OLED
Your passion is definitely palpable and understandable. It seemed like you were close to getting emotional near the end of the video, but that's not a bad thing. I'd love to get this set myself but that's just not possible right now. Still, it looks really cool. Regarding the Louis Lamour books you mentioned, they remind me of a fine bound collection of Agatha Christie stories and novels that my parents bought through a subscription 35-40+ years ago. I used to love reading those when I was in high school and my parents passed them down to me 20 years ago. I get what you mean about our collections being a preservation of history. At times I kinda feel like an archivist myself.
Yeah, I was on the verge of being emotional. I know some fans and collectors (some who have voiced their opinion in these very comments) feel like things are never cheap enough, or have enough extras, or have had enough restoration work done. I, on the other hand, often find myself overwhelmed with gratitude for how many cool things we have the opportunity to own. We have more availability, better selection, and better presentation than any generation of fan before us. It's why I say we are currently living in the golden age of physical media. It won't last forever, but I do genuinely feel blessed to have access to as much of entertainment history as I do. I'm truly grateful to Paramount for allowing us the option to purchase this entire series, and in such a gorgeous box set.
I love the fact that you and I share the same trait. I do not collect for collecting I collect because I want the movies and t.v. shows I have always liked. I am not buying something just to sell it down the road. When I started YT people asked if I had anything to trade. Like maybe a movie I did not want. But the problem was that everything n my collection I do want. I love the CBS "bricks" as you call them. I have picked up a few series that are in these and love the fact I do not have to shuffle through all the different boxes. This is a sweet looking set. Where did you see it for 164? I check Amazon and it was 338. I am also with you on the fact that they keep releasing stuff like this on DVD or Blu. Nice video Heath.
It’s 169 at DeepDiscount. There’s a link in the video’s description that will take you straight there, but the item is currently back-ordered. Best Buy has it listed for 229, but they are also sold out. I’m sure stock is slow to replenish due to the current health crisis, but I got mine from DeepDiscount and am using them more and more. They’re reliable, reasonable, and ship securely. And like you, there’s not my in my collection that wild part with! It has tremendous value to me for enjoyment and happiness, and you can’t put a price on that!
Theres some big ones out there i have a couple the perry mason one is huge too i have about half of this show been gettin the 3 season sets they been puttin out before this and for perry mason glad they still rereleasing classic shows for people who want them like us hope other companies most of the classics have at least been put on dvd but our now out of print and expensive i know some of them have been available for sale individually already because i have them i hope they do it for bonanza now

I'm dying FROM Stage four liver cirrohsis and I don't have any money or income and I'm waiting for approval of a donor's list and may be at 61 year's old some time I might be able to lay and watch gunsmoke until my life finally ends... God's Blessings to you and your family always 💞...
Hey C@M. Can you give an update now that you have had the set for a while? I want to purchase this set but read all sorts of horrible reviews on Amazon talking about many DVD's not playing because they are either just faulty and/or physically damaged. Numerous reviews also claim that DVD's are missing or mislabeled and the set is actually not 'complete' as advertised. Thanks.
I haven't had any problems whatsoever with my set. No problematic discs, no mislabeling. I would take most of those reviews with a big grain of salt. Everyone I know who personally who bought this set has also had no problems whatsoever. If for some reason you did have some damaged discs, Amazon would take care of the issue for you.
As someone who owns the Walmart exclusives before this release which is literally the first 4 cases of this set if you ever want to part with season 13-15 and 16-20 let me know lol would love to snag them up!
I’ll never part with a single disc from my set, but I’m sure Walmart (and other retailers) will eventually have the later seasons bundled together. They’re already manufactured and ready to go.
Weirdly, almost each box has a different set up. Some of them are stacked two or three to a tray, some discs are all by themselves on a tray. If you have any of the other big CBS/Paramount sets, it’s similar. Luckily, no more than 3 discs are stacked anywhere, and I’ve checked them all for scratches. Only 2 discs with some scuffing or of 143. Not bad! And I think they’ll play fine.
No, those DVDs and boxes went out of production probably 15 years ago. The series on DVD through VEI Entertainment now, but they're a pale shadow of the original DVDs from Davis/Panzer productions.
Oh no. I'll be working through this one for years. I watch one here and there, as my review schedule allows. The important thing for me is that I can continue to do that forever, since I now own them. This box set immediately went out of print, too, so I feel grateful that I got one and can enjoy this show at my own pace.
Of course. I'm not bingeing it, though. It took them 20 years to make it all, and it may take me that long to watch it. My collection is not just for right now, it's for the rest of my life.
Few months back saw this Set for $164.98 , I didn't pull the Trigger wish I did, it is now back up to $199.99 at Walmart, like alot of physical media stuff if you see older stuff if and it is your thing grab it , somethings come and go fast , stuff isn't being churned out in giant flood the market numbers anymore .
I do hope that scratch across the box didn't come from when you opened the outer box with that monster sized knife? I'd be so upset if I had done that.
I’ve been watching a lot of Gunsmoke lately and I’m curious? I wish I had of thought of this question when I started at season one I could’ve kept a tally in a notebook. I am really curious how many episodes of gunsmoke are there where no one gets killed? Or dies? I have no idea but I can tell you it’s not a lot!😩
I love this RUclips video and plan to order the set, but how come no one's commenting on the 10 missing episodes? There were 635 episodes in the series, not 625.
@@CerealAtMidnight I'm certainly glad to hear that. Many online descriptions, including the one at PBS.org say 625 episodes. Thanks for clearing up the mystery.
Dont know if its true but I read that James Arness's in one of his contracts with Paramont he got them to agree to but up the money to buy him a ranch and he would pay them back interest free. In a later contract he got them to forgive the loan in lieu of a raise in his salary. I suppose one can do things like that when you are the show.
@@CerealAtMidnight So do you watch all your movies on screens that match the resolution of the format? I use a 32" Samsung 4k monitor. It has an Upscaler in it and I sit about 2 feet away. This is my I get everything in its highest quality format, otherwise I notice the compression really easily.
I just looked, because I was actually going to buy it. Most places I looked have it at $250 and up. Oh well, I've honestly recorded all of them off MeTV over the years, guess if it goes back down to 160 I'll get it. But it's a good sign that even at the $300 range it's selling out. Shows the studio people want these types of things.
I love this show. I’m trying to win it on T.V. It’s one of those watch and win sweepstakes. But I would like to own this set because I am a big fan of the show.
I am not into Gunsmoke as a Western but funnily enough I am getting into Bat Masterson. W0ondering if there's a box set for him, will have to check lol! From your Big Lebowski video, I have a bit of a rant about "illusion of content" that wasted me $10 on one of those Marvel specialty magazines about Avengers Endgame. STILL salty about that... TALKED a LOT with the interviews, SAID nothing.. Thanks, I hate it... Glad I *didn't* buy the Captain Marvel one at the same time... At any rate, yes DO tell the studios you want the physical stuff, ESPECIALLY if it might be a little more obscure (which, I grant you, this is not), or expensive or labor-intensive (which this is).
Should there ever be a complete series set of “The Simpsons” (doubtful since for one thing the show is still in production!) it *might* surpass this set; otherwise this is the Best Boxset Ever!
A release worthy of one of the most important tv shows ever made. I love your passion and your channel!

All Best,
Tom
@@necron99.aka-sammyboy92 P.S. I forgot to mention that not too long ago I found out Ken Curtis (Festis) had a great singing voice. I was really surprised. Also the saloons in the show never show people eating food. Just drinking. I often wondered if they ever ate food in that town. :)
Best, Tom
What a great video you made on the Gunsmoke DVD set. I am a year behind the timing here. I am definitely getting the set, but I will take my time and get the best value. Also to let you know I have a book on Gunsmoke called: Gunsmoke A Complete History by authors SuzAnne Barabas and Gabor Barabas, published in 1990. It also includes the radio program as well. Now that the complete series is out I will add the DVD's to the book. Thank again.
I just got mine! Ordered from Walmart. Amazing show and amazing set!
Nice knife!
I love your glasses-they look like the kind that Michael Caine would wear in the seventies, I am thinking specifically of the film "Pulp". Looking good my friend.
Great collection! There is still hope for possible releases of other shows which are not in print or are just not complete. Great super set!
Thanks!
Love Gunsmoke. We watch it daily! It's on I think, three different cable networks. 👍
I have Just Purchased My Collection.Excited to watch them.Love Gunsmoke.
One of my favorites in my collection with over 3000 movies and many many TV shows all on glorious Physical Media.
William Conrad, director of Two on a Guillotine (sorry, one of my favorite Conrad tidbits). Please tell me you still have that Gunsmoke lunchbox!
Wow it’s gorgeous!
This is a beautiful DVD. Collection
Have to keep a log sheet inside the cases to keep track of disc #/episode you left off at in between viewings. Haha.
Seriously it helps. Had to do this with Rawhide.
I've done that before w/quite a few shows (episode lists from tv.com for Riptide, The Streets of San Francisco, and The Untouchables).
And those earlier, shorter black and white episodes are still under-represented in syndication, if my ME-TV browsing is any indication.
My god thats impressive, and here i thought that my matlock box set was big
Hmm The Simpsons complete series box set may be that big as well whenever that happens
Wow !! Nice UnBoxing Bro 👌 I'm Ordering This Amazing Collection Now
Gunsmoke fans: this set is now available via the Turner Classic Movies website store for $178 plus shipping, making it a well-worth-it $200 set.
I left the following on Coolduder's video where he discussed this -
Gunsmoke trivia - Lead actor James Arness was the older brother of Mission Impossible lead actor Peter Graves.
Hello I was just wondering how the quality of the DVD picture and audio was on this set?
I'll definitely be picking Gunsmoke and Bonanza box sets up soon
I love gun smoke so much
Cool set! I only have 19 seasons.could the horizontal scratch be from when you slide that giant knife across it to cut the plastic? At 1:41?
Yep, probably. The surface of the set was directly below the tape. Not much room for error! Now Sheriff Matt Dillon has a battle scar.
Wow! They put effort into this!
I am curious where you see effort was put into this set.
Gun smoke has been scanned in HD. Shows on cable in HD....probably parts cut out fir syndication. ..but a lot of times when remastered for HD for streaming, will be followed by Blu-Ray.
Heath, were you able to check out the video?
Am new to your channel and I saw this at my local Walmart and I’m thinking about buying it but idk if I could lol
i wish if it was on blu-ray
These definitely exist in HD. Paramount+ has seasons 7-8 in 1080p on their site and seasons 9-20 in 1080p through RUclips. The first six seasons are shown in 720p on INSP.
Most likely up converts to 1080. Happens all the time for older TV shows. You name the show, they up the resolutio.
My favorite episodes are with Chester.
Watch Gunsmoke!!!! Love Gunsmoke!!!!!
My mom got me Gunsmoke at wal mart . 100 bucks I love it.
Good luck!
@@CerealAtMidnight Thanks! Will try that. Appreciate your help and your awesome videos.
Wow! What a big behemoth.
This is gonna be my next big purchase!!! Hope they can do something similar for Bonanza.
Theres some big ones out there i have a couple the perry mason one is huge too i have about half of this show been gettin the 3 season sets they been puttin out before this and for perry mason glad they still rereleasing classic shows for people who want them like us hope other companies most of the classics have at least been put on dvd but our now out of print and expensive i know some of them have been available for sale individually already because i have them i hope they do it for bonanza now
That's an impressive set. I thought I was doing good in finding the Magnificent Seven DVD 4-pack at the Dollar Tree
The only show that I saw that matched the size of this set was Dark Shadows tv show, it contains 131 dvds and 1,225 shows!!!
We talk about that in the video, Dark Shadows by name. There are some sets that are even bigger, which we mention.
@@CerealAtMidnight sorry only half way through the video, jumped the gun....lol
Your comments are appreciated! We do get comments from folks who don’t watch, so I never take it for granted that someone saw something. Party on!
Thank you very very very much for your hi
Video and box opening... I totally love gunsmoke and I would give as anything to have the boxset.. but I'm not able to make the appointment for purchasing anything...
If for some reason you did have some damaged discs, Amazon would take care of the issue for you.
thats great now they need to do bonanza
As someone who owns the Walmart exclusives before this release which is literally the first 4 cases of this set if you ever want to part with season 13-15 and 16-20 let me know lol would love to snag them up!
I’ll never part with a single disc from my set, but I’m sure Walmart (and other retailers) will eventually have the later seasons bundled together. They’re already manufactured and ready to go.
This is massive. How are the discs put inside each box?
Weirdly, almost each box has a different set up. Some of them are stacked two or three to a tray, some discs are all by themselves on a tray. If you have any of the other big CBS/Paramount sets, it’s similar. Luckily, no more than 3 discs are stacked anywhere, and I’ve checked them all for scratches. Only 2 discs with some scuffing or of 143. Not bad! And I think they’ll play fine.
I collected all the Highlander dvd sets as they came in but was unaware of a mail away box, do you know if it’s still available anywhere
No, those DVDs and boxes went out of production probably 15 years ago. The series on DVD through VEI Entertainment now, but they're a pale shadow of the original DVDs from Davis/Panzer productions.
Just curious have you finished it yet ?
Oh no. I'll be working through this one for years. I watch one here and there, as my review schedule allows. The important thing for me is that I can continue to do that forever, since I now own them. This box set immediately went out of print, too, so I feel grateful that I got one and can enjoy this show at my own pace.
Serious question though, will you watch it all?
Of course. I'm not bingeing it, though. It took them 20 years to make it all, and it may take me that long to watch it. My collection is not just for right now, it's for the rest of my life.
nice set but what was with that knife you opened it with lmao 🤣
Are they all restored in color ??
Episodes shot in black and white are still in black and white (we'd riot if they'd been colorized) and color episodes are in color.
@@CerealAtMidnight Great! Thanks for the review!
Few months back saw this Set for $164.98 , I didn't pull the Trigger wish I did,
it is now back up to $199.99 at Walmart,
like alot of physical media stuff if you see older stuff if and it is your thing grab it , somethings come and go fast , stuff isn't being churned out in giant flood the market numbers anymore .
I do hope that scratch across the box didn't come from when you opened the outer box with that monster sized knife? I'd be so upset if I had done that.
It’s very possible. Not too big of a deal to me, though. It’s barely visible.
is this the delux of gunsmoke set dvd cases look like them modern cheap ones
I’ve been watching a lot of Gunsmoke lately and I’m curious? I wish I had of thought of this question when I started at season one I could’ve kept a tally in a notebook. I am really curious how many episodes of gunsmoke are there where no one gets killed? Or dies? I have no idea but I can tell you it’s not a lot!😩
I dunno for sure but I do remember thinking after watching some episodes that "hey!!! no one got killed in this one"!!!
Hi Heath what region are the dvds of Gunsmoke?
Box lists them as Region 1. If I hear reports of any players outside the US supporting the discs, I will report back.
Funny enough I'm sitting next to a ton of L'amour books including a set of the large hardback versions!
Nice! So you know exactly what I'm talking about!
Exactly! They are actually my mothers books! She is a big L'amour reader and collector!
I think you have gone full hippie in the way you are talking about psychical media but I am not complaining 😂
I love this RUclips video and plan to order the set, but how come no one's commenting on the 10 missing episodes? There were 635 episodes in the series, not 625.
It's 635.
Save that hype sticker
Have you ever imported PAL dvds just for the extra 96p of resolution?
Imported a ton of PAL releases, but never for extra resolution, which I believe gets lost in the conversion to NTSC TV format anyway.
Uh, why isn't a picture of Marshall Dillon on the front of the box?🤔
Is the movie Islands in the Desert included in thic collection? I am looking for the episode with character Ben Snow! 😂I love that episode!💞
Yep, that’s season 20. And this box set has ever season.
Thank’s for letting me know! Wow really cool that you responded! Love your channel!🙂
I can’t stand western series’ , but I love me some Gun Smoke !!!
also does it include the tv movies
It does not.
is it both NTSC and PAL
No, NTSC.

At any rate, yes DO tell the studios you want the physical stuff, ESPECIALLY if it might be a little more obscure (which, I grant you, this is not), or expensive or labor-intensive (which this is).
can you play this in the uk please reply i need to know
You’ll need a region free DVD player, as these are region 1 discs.
Those episodes on the discs are uncut, presented as originally aired.
Whole show will be upgraded to hd by me just bought today will sending back though cause I dont like dvds getting so I can move to pc
Should there ever be a complete series set of “The Simpsons” (doubtful since for one thing the show is still in production!) it *might* surpass this set; otherwise this is the Best Boxset Ever!
It's not a complete box set, but they do have a set of seasons 1-20 of the simpsons, I would say it's almost as good
