I’m so bored of massive collections. People buying every new release or hoarding things they get in PR. I actually want to see a realistic collection, products that people use. I love your collection and set up, it’s beautiful. I feel inspired to downsize! (And I don’t even have loads of make up either) xx
My collection is a very similar size to yours and I'm much happier...I only really started collecting makeup last year after starting to watch RUclips and I fell deeply into that trap of thinking I needed everything. Unfortunately I spent all my student savings on makeup like a delusional makeup hoarder and at the beginning of the year I realised I was being stupid and consumerism had taken over my life, i also have very bad anxiety and this really didn't help, and it didn't make me happy. I sold most of the things because most of it was relatively new, and have been using up alot of makeup and still am. I feel much less anxiety and stress over my makeup hobby now and I've delcuttered alot as well as my makeup. I also think about my purchases alot more now then I did before.
Tamarind Digges I know what you mean about the consumerism (I’m totally guilty of it) and I’m sorry you went through all that. It’s definitely easy to get sucked into wanting to buy more and more thanks to RUclips and social media. Now that I’m back on, I’m already noticing that it’s affecting me and making me spend more money. Here’s to willpower and not falling for all the hype ❤️
I used to love giant collections but I've actually been feeling overwhelmed by my collection lately. I've been slowly de-cluttering my lip products for the past month or so. Just throwing away expired products or getting rid of ones I don't use. I just don't want to have to dig through my collection to find a product I actually love, whereas in the past, I had more of a collector mentality
#ConsciousConsumerism for the win! I love it and it is something that I'm also very into now. By the end of the year, it is my goal to have a seasonal capsule makeup wardrobe. You're right, it is so freeing! ❤🙏

I need to stop “window” shopping on my lunch breaks because I end up buying makeup I absolutely do NOT need. I get caught up in the pretty packaging. I have been downsizing my makeup as well by being honest with myself. I have held on to YSL lipsticks because of the packaging for YEARS but never wore it more than a few times and that is crazy lol! The Laura geller baked color and contour palette is my favourite I love especially the bronzer and the highlighter in it , I created a big dip on both that make me sad because when I run out of it I can't get it anymore
I felt the same way about my collection as well. My collection grew after 5 years of collecting. It wasn’t too crazy & I was still able to squeeze everything into my vanity table. However, I have downsized and have maximum of 3 of each item in each category, eg 3 foundations, 3 blushes etc. It’s really reduced my stress on making sure I use everything because now I DO use everything ☺️☺️
I have one of everything and it feel so good to not be sucked into that wasteful consummerism. Your eyeshadow palettes can be downsized some more when ur ready because they a lot of the same colours, luv this vid.
I am new to makeup, only started July 2017 and yet I have managed to acquire so much in a year and have been overwhelmed with my collection. I have downsized a fair bit and now more choosy of what to buy. I realized I may have streaks of wanting to wear bright eyeshadows but in the end, I am drawn to neutrals time and time again. Also, I prefer the makeup back ground on your videos.
Nice video! I've heard from a couple of RUclipsrs that the Born to Run is the best Urban Decay palette so far. I really want to get my hands on it at some point!
This is so great! I always do the "one in, one out" method on everything (clothes, makeup, shoes, etc.) I agree, if someone is okay with collecting makeup, that's great. If someone wants to be minimalist, that's cool too! :) I'm going through my makeup and anything expired, I'm throwing away without second thoughts. It will eventually be replaced.

I love this video. I used to have the Ikea Alex 5 Drawers and each drawer was full of makeup. Now I have a new vanity with two deeper drawers that fits all my makeup. I feel that I enjoy using my makeup more when I actually use them instead of being stored at the back of the drawers and becoming forgotten.
I think thos is the first video I've seen where the makeup collection is smaller than the one I have. Most are huge, but all the same, in a 5 or 9 Alex drawer or two or three. And while seeing all that makeup is fun, it's like being at ulta or sephora, with a limited color selection for face. Watching these videos, I started to buy more stuff, looking for that perfect shade or formula. But I noticed that I wasn't using something after the first few trys. Now I force myself to use different makeup, because I dont want to waste what I have or the money I've spent. I'm older, so I dont wear alot of flashy colors or shimmers, and never wear glitter. Everything I wear is neutral, I'm not going anywhere where I would be expected to go glam or colorful or even shimmery. So now I ask myself, am I going to wear these shades, do I have something similar that I can do similar looks,( and its suprising how many pallettes have the same color families. I look at the price, do the colors match my skin tone. I'm cool toned and alot of warm colors look awful on me. I cant wear orange, yellow or reddish eyeshadow. I cant pull off red, bright pink or oddly colored lips. I also have desided that I have one drawer only to store my makeup. I won't expand out from that. My drawer is full. I also went buy new things until I use what I have, unless it's something I dont have alot of and it's almost gone. I won't have more that a few eye liners or mascaras because they have a short shelf life. I have 13 foundations. I have no idea how I'm going through all that in a year, the standard shelf life of that product. So no more can be added until I use what I have and than I will buy only those that I like on me. And thays with everything now.

I feel like this is the perfect size for me. I started off small simply because I couldn't afford alot, at the same time I didn't think I needed much. Then a friend introduced me to MAC many years ago which opened up the doors to the pricy makeup for me. Then in the past few years I started watching the RUclips videos and wanted to try everything! Now as anything in life I feel like I've come full circle and desire that balance. Most minimalist versions don't have the variety I desire and that I look for as a girly girl who wants to play a little. Lol. Plus I've been trying to focus on cleaner products. But I don't want to be wasteful and overwhelmed by the clutter of stuff I don't use. So your size collection is my goal. Thank you for sharing and I'd love to see where you are with your collection now that some time has passed and we're in 2019!
In terms of a makeup collection, I'm both a minimalist and a person who enjoys every shade of makeup. For eyeshadow, I enjoy have every color of the rainbow, maybe a few different shades of the same color, and shimmers. I don't have as much makeup as others, but I do have a collection, compared to others. For instance, for lipsticks, I have natural colors and fall colors. I have a few summer colors, but not as much as I do in natural or fall colors. I love a mauve colored lipstick, and I love a brown lipstick or a berry lipstick for the Fall and Winter. I'm a minimalist in blushes, foundations, concealers, and primers.
Hi Erisa! One thing that shocked me, no Revlon Primrose lipstick 😱 that was a staple for you and the reason I wear that color with great joy. My makeup collection is relatively large for someone who doesn’t do RUclips, lol.. but, I honestly enjoy the heck out of it. Thanks to a lot of videos like this one, I have given away a lot of my makeup to my sisters! My collection was big (to my standards) and there were products that I absolutely loved but had to part ways bc they would make me break out. I kept it despite that bc I was so convinced that I HAD to have a concealer or I HAD to keep more than 2 primers, etc.
I have 25 makeup items and like to think of myself as a minimalist. All of my beauty items are also cruelty free. Many brands test on animals so that's another thing that keeps me from buying makeup :)
Whatttt? Ulta gifting you that contour palette is insane! I'm also Platinum, but I didn't get any free palette. That is so awesome though! I don't know how I feel about the size of my makeup collection, but I am just not tempted to buy makeup as much for some reason. It might be because I don't wear makeup everyday (barely once a week to be completely honest) and not really having room help the impulse buy lol. I bought the BareMinerals original powder foundation a while back, but only recently used it and I love it! I like to buff it in with small circular motions (and with a small amount of product at a time). I hope you find a method that works for you!

Phoebe Cura I still have almost all my stationery and have it stored in a cabinet. I take stuff out as I need it and definitely stopped buying as much as I used to. I unfortunately haven’t been using my binder planner. I still have it but currently prefer having lists on my phone to stay organized.

Personally I think if u have that much keep it but don’t us the expired stuff obviously so throw that and give some away here and the and at some point you will have less and u might have to replace some things BUT if u just end up throwing it ALL or giving it ALL away no affence it’s kind of pointless and a waist

I’m so glad I downsized too. I went from having 200+ lipsticks to 50. Still too much, but better than 200!
