Hey NORMIES! He calls it Shoot style because he is referring to an old school fight style born in japan that is one of the roots of MMA. Shoot style wrestling involved submissions and kicks for the most part. No actual fist striker. although some competitors like Bas Rutten mastered the art of palm strikes which were legal, but he was able to inflict major damage with both his kicks and palm strikes.
When they had Pancrase as the big shoot style fighting organization in Japan you could punch to the body (Bas' famous liver punches), since it was bare knuckle they didn't want cuts or broken hands ending fights so they barred head shots.
Marketa: "Like overall a different level of dark that I didn't think this show will get into." Me: "Oh boy, you guy's are like just only a few steps inside the cave, it will be more darker when you go deeper." Tokoyami: "Revelry in the Dark!"
It’s so nice that since Micky couldn’t make it because he was sick, Surj stepped up his game and dropped the remote several times in his absence. That’s teamwork!
This isn't completely correct, but basically MMA and "shootfighting" used to be synonymous terms in Japan. Deku switched from using only punches to mainly using kicks with occasional punches, so he's basically a stand up striker. It was probably "shootfighting" because grappling was involved, and Japanese pro wrestling already had "shoot wrestling" which aimed for a more "realistic" style incorporating some "full contact" combat, which in turn is named after wrestling lingo "shoot" which means something like "an unscripted move". But basically "kicks are strikes in the repertoire of an MMA fighter = Shoot Style"
The one thing I'll say regarding if the current situation is All Mights "fault" is that he lacked foresight. He was focused on saving people now and not thinking ahead. Other heroes were so far behind All Might that they got complacent because why are you trying to become as good as Lebron when you play against him and realize you will never reach his heights. So they settled into their roles somewhat relying on him to handle the stuff they cant instead of constantly challenging his spot. All Might could have reached out to other heroes and the younger ones and trained and encouraged them to surpass him. Instead it seems like he reassured them that they are safe because "I am here"
I absolutely LOVE Mirio. I was so unsure of him upon his introduction but he’s so easily in my top 3 characters now. Can’t wait for y’all to get to see more of him and the Big 3.
Marketa made some really great points. I also think the theme of the show is pointing towards society needing multiple pillars and that long term that’s what Class 1A will turn into.
Facts I was thinking the same thing, but deku gets so fucking op though I can see him just being the one pillar for all. I think they’re going go with multiple pillars though but it’s gonna be the best of the best not everyone in class 1-A is gonna be a pillar, I can see three of them being pillars deku bakugou and todoroki from that class.
It's not about multiple pillars but just someone to give them hope. Deku will be the symbol of hope, not peace. All Might did an amazing job, but his extreme dedication and power difference made the people too reliant on him, no one strived to be better with a few exceptions like Endeavor. Society must hold itself up and they will as long as they know someone will be there to help them do it, thus Deku the Symbol of Hope.
Just a guy on his PC deku is going to be that GUY but it doesn’t have to be just one symbol or pillar, Bakugou and todoroki have that power to be symbols/pillars and that’s what this world needs. That was the problem with all Mights generation they all relied on one person one symbol/pillar now that symbol/pillar is gone they have no one to look to, that’s why they need multiple symbols/pillars.
Dennis Xu I mean anyone who does a heroic action can be a hero but obviously super hero’s are not a think unless I missed something lol don’t think anyone was trying to say that
Mirio looks like All Might mixed with Tintin. Finally the big three! Great characters, can't wait for everyone to see what they are capable of! And I also love the first half of this episode. The backstory on Twice is amazing and really shoots him up the list of most fascinating characters in the show. I love when the villains get good character development! Also, so close to Season 4 where things get plus ultra hyped again! @@BlackBurrito9073 i was just taking into account what we had seen in the anime so far but tbh I was a bit disappointed in the handling of the overhaul arc
So something that's worth noting is that "sidekick" in this universe doesn't really mean the same thing as it does in comics. Here, any hero who works for another hero's agency is considered a sidekick, so how often they work together may depend on the hero and agency. It's not common but a hero with a big enough agency can even have sidekicks they've never even directly fought alongside with.
9:21 - 9:35 so, a couple of things. 1: that's Sarah Wiedenheft as Tsunotori. Stephanie Sheh voices Hinata. and 2: this does need context. they quickly mentioned that Pony Tsunotori, is a foreign exchange student. her voice actress in the sub, Kaede Hondo, spoke broken Japanese mixed with Engrish, which essentially shows how she's not from Japan/still learning the language. so the bit with Monoma whispering threats that she repeats to 1-A, the joke is better addressed. it's one of those instances where the dialogue in Anime doesn't always carry over well in the English dub, like when the dub leaves in lines such as "I can't speak/read English" or "you speak Japanese too?"
Yess, I really wish they at least gave her an accent (maybe southern?) to kind aget the point across that she's not from Japan, in terms of nationality.
The thing about Almight is he doesn't compromise. That means when someone needs saving he is not gonna stop, slow down or wait to save them. That is why he was a terrible teacher. The time it takes to get a team to his level, how many hundreds or thousands of people would have died while waiting for regular ass heroes with so much less ability to get to a place that is even a third of what he can do on his own? Endeavor is a closer, he's real good in a clutch but he doesn't care how he gets there. Almight built the ideal of a symbol for peace because of the inherent chaos that comes with quirks based on society as a whole. At least that is a bit of how I think of it.
14:13 Just noticed that Mirio is shown with his tongue sticking out, which is a visual joke referencing Peko-chan, the mascot of Fujiya Co. a nationwide chain of confectionery stores and restaurants in Japan.
@@KnowOne1701 You mean Vault Boy? He's been called that a lot by American audiences, but Horikoshi confirmed Tintin's influence, since Mirio's bio mentions his love of Franco-Belgian comics.

I believe that the one thing to consider with regards to All Might's responsibilities as a hero is that he was also caught in an life long battle between the forces of good and evil between All for One and his younger brother that carried on into his generation. In addition to the overwhelming responsibility that is being a hero, fighting crime, taking in criminals, and saving civilians from disasters, All Might was also dealing with this overwhelming evil force that was All for One for many years, especially after losing Nana. As Marketa was saying and I agree that there cannot be just one person shouldering the burden of peace within the hero realm, we also have to consider All Might's additional burden of taking down one the greatest villains of generations prior. In his focus of saving the people and looking for All for One, he almost had no time actually having one on one lessons with and giving guidance to future potential heroes in other hero courses, as we can see in the first two seasons with his difficulty in teaching Deku how to control One for All. As we can see through the recent episodes, the hero society is beginning to realize the heavy burden they allowed All Might to carry and are now seeing the error of their ways. Now the programs and organizations involved in hero development are attempting at a broader approach in forming teams of well rounded heroes that are multifaceted and versatile in all types of situations. Great reaction Normies!!!! So glad to see the show surprising you guys arc after arc with its storytelling, animation, and the different themes Horikoshi begins to tackle as the story progresses and the characters grow! Keep up the awesome work and thank you for all that you do for the community!
I think they said in the manga that they polled males 20-40 years old because that's the biggest/most vocal demographic of hero fans. So basically Endeavor's popularity is much lower than other heroes but he's kept his position because of his strong results rather than his weaker popularity (which is still pretty high considering he's even in the top ten).
Oh... I didn't remembered this was the episode where Twice really introduce himself as a Deadpool but a Deadpool who wears his mask more for needs than "brah i look like a avocado"
Yes they are in their first year. School in japan starts in spring and end in winter. High school in japan only have three years. So they are 10th grader or otherwise known as somphmores.
Thanks for teaching me about throat syphilis I will accuse everyone around me if they sneeze or cough I'd like it's okay must be really hard to battle that throat syphilis
Something kinda weird with the translation (stands out a lot more in sub) is that these new "hero work studies" are actually called internships originally. In the Japanese audio, they're referred to as "hero intern", with the english words. Basically, when translating the original internships from Season 2, I guess they didn't realize that they'd need to translate an identical thing later. The more accurate way of translating it would probably have been them having "work studies" in Season 2 and "internships" now. But not much you can do after you already called them internships in Season 2.
Endeavor's vibe is like, if he catches you he'll fuck you up, as opposed to All Might's which is "if you do something, he will catch you". It's kinda like, people will still commit crimes even if a death penalty exists. The existence of punishment doesn't necessarily deter crime, in part because dumb mother fuckers will always rely on that chance that they don't get caught. But when it's "you WILL get caught and you CAN NOT STOP HIM", maybe that works to stop more people from even bothering.
Mirio was on screen less than 3 seconds and immediately cemented himself as my all time favorite character in the entire anime. Is it the jokes? The idea that he sat in a wall who knows how long waiting to jump scare a 1st year taking out the trash? The fact that he looks like the 🙂 emoji photoshopped onto a weightlifters body?
The main character is finally here. Y’all aren’t ready for the greatness that is Mirio.
Greatness? Absolutely. Main character? Not a chance in Hell
Nah
A fascinating look into Twice, a sneaky intro of some major characters, including Buff Tintin.
Roman rains trying to take over after the Rock is a spot on analogy
Shoot fighting is the Japanese version of mma or Ultimate fighting, a lot of kick boxing.

Oh... I didn't remembered this was the episode where Twice really introduce himself as a Deadpool but a Deadpool who wears his mask more for needs than "brah i look like a avocado"
"Maybe he's sempai" Chris proves once again he's the best

Power intensifies
Next episode goona be POWER !!!
"It's been a rough year"

Love Nahid's love for bakugo
Ouuu he disrespect Overhaul.... can’t wait for season 4 things get real🙌🏾
Thunder Strike He should be disrespected, fans hyped him up just for him to get his ass beat 😒
But when it's "you WILL get caught and you CAN NOT STOP HIM", maybe that works to stop more people from even bothering.
cant wait till they catch up to season 4
Best boy Mirio is here!
Hope Mickey gets better
They just don’t know what they about to see and feel. 😂🤣😂🤣
Todoroki and Bakugo had to feel like shit, letting Class 1-B pass them by all getting their licenses!

shame the subtitles spoiled twice, i was looking forward to their reaction to their reveal
Nice reaction guys your almost done with s3.
The idea that he’s one of the top 3 students in one of the best hero schools in the nation despite looking like he doesn’t have 2 brain cells to rub together?
Who tf knows anymore, man….
*THE BIG 3!!*
