Hi, the SN74LS164 pins should accept 5v directly, so I'm not sure why you added the two 1k resistors to A-B and CLK. I don't believe they are necessary. Thanks.
"@enigma758 Yes! Is true, the TTL work without any difficulty in 5VDC. I don't add it by a Level capacity but by protection at Arduino Port. Any wrong connection can easily damage the output of Arduino the resistors on the way will let it without any risk.
