My dad's camera, one I used off and on from 1960 to 1970. All manual, and the film was Kodak 828 roll . They no longer make that film, and my sister now has the camera. Cool that you have your dad's Minolta. I also have two Minoltas. Lucky to get them at a great price that is hard to beat...as one was gifted to me, and the other cost $8.50 at an estate sale... and that one came with six rolls of color print film.
A nice story with the camera being rescued. My dad had an Akarette from the mid50s... A very simple camera but high quality Schneider lenses. He used Kodachrome all the time but dumped all the mounted slides except a holiday to Yugoslavia in 1958. Those he kept alongside the Akarette when i moved there so I could see the changes over 30 odd years. One project i have planned is to take the akarette back to the same locations and reshoot them nearly 70 years on. Perhaps like yourself i think it a good way to honour and remember our parents.
I’m 68 years old my film story is the first time I ever took a picture was with my mothers Kodak box camera back in 1967 I was 11 years old and I still have a few of those pictures today. Apparently my family on my mothers side where very much into photography because I have a ton of old pictures from the days even before I was born.
What’s your favourite ever film camera?
The Nikon F100 that I use now.
Olympus OM1. My first real camera. Still use it.
The F100 is a beast. Had one back in the day
I have always wanted an OM1. I occasionally scour eBay but have not yet bid on one. One day maybe
Nikon F2 Photomic - iconic camera, circa 1971(ish). Nikon FE and F4.
Dad's are awesome. May he forever be in your memory.
Thank you
A beautiful tribute to your father! I have my grandfather's K1000 that I need to get cleaned up and fixed up to get out and shoot with again!
Thank you 🙏. Definitely get that K1000 going again

Definitely something special about keeping old camera gear alive.

Much as I love digital, film gives us that real connection with the past
Excellent and really interesting. Cannot wait for the follow-up video. 👍🫶
Thank you. It will be after the New Year as I will not get the film back until then
