My mom used to make this for me around the holidays because she knew how much I love it. Sadly, she passed away 3yrs ago. Going through her paperwork I found a little notebook and it had all the ingredients to make the arroz con dulce but not the process. I searched for a recipe exactly like hers and I found you. I made the arroz following your method but I stepped it up to make more. I cried when I tasted it. It was EXACTLY how my mom used to make it. I now make it following your way every time. Thank you. I know my mom is in heaven feeling happy for me because I’m able to enjoy at least one of her recipes. God bless you.
I just made this today and it was phenomenal. I'm beyond surprised that I actually made arroz con dulce in my lifetime. All thanks to you and your cooking recipes. God bless you for sharing all your knowledge with all of us 🤗❤🇵🇷🐸🌺
I almost forgot the ginger as I was listen, but not watching. Then I looked, so I added it in time. Excellent recipe, just like my mom's. Sooo good and easy.
Recién encontré tu página. Me encanta tu estilo.
Ida much thanks to you for sharing this recipe! Since my abuela passed away I have been always on the look out for this recipe. Many times I've tried other rice pudding but none come close to this delicious recipe. This one STAYS creamy and delicious. I follow your recipes on every detail and I am never disappointed!!! This was a real treat for me and my family this Christmas , thanks to you.
1/30/23: I made this last night, and it came out so creamy rich and good. The star anise gives it a different flavor, of course; that was the one ingredient my mom never used in this recipe back in the day. Although I like it, I'm not in love with it because of the anise, but everything else works. I will just make it next time without it. Thanks for sharing.
I Looooove Rice Pudding!! But, never tried to make it myself. That is, until now. I am diggin your recipe and have to try it. It looks sooo DELICIOUS!! Thank you so much for sharing and esp the inspiration. Arlene
Thank you for the recipe. I followed your recipe exactly as you explained it and it turned out great. This was my first time making it so I was very proud of how it turned out, lol. My grandma used to make it yearly for us, but since she passed away recently I decided to learn to make it myself. Unfortunately I never got the recipe from her so of course I turned to the internet for help, your recipe was the one I decided to go with and I have no regrets. It's a keeper. Will continue to make it yearly for family and friends just like grandma used to do. Thanks for such a great channel, I'm a new subbie here. Your antipasto and arroz con gandules recipe is next on my list of recipes to try. Anyhow, the holidays just aren't the same without arroz con dulce so thanks a million for sharing, it's highly appreciated.
I just discovered your videos. I wanted to tell you that I think you are so brave, sincere and kind. Your approach is lovely and warm and I really enjoyed watching your video. I am a Latina and make "Arroz con Leche" (Dominican/Mexican style) and wanted to see how you made yours. LOVED the idea of adding the tea. How festive. Thank you for making this video and I am going to watch some more! Abrazos from one Latina to another!
I want to tell I love your Recipes I’m Puerto Rican and I don’t know how to make half of the stuff my mother always made this and you remind me of my mom God bless you she still alive but she could not make this anymore and sometime she don’t remember the recipe so I’m glad you’re here God bless you and may God bless you richly and I love you thank you ❤️❤️❤️🎄🎁 Just in time for Christmas thank you
this is the best!! ive been looking for this recipe for the longest thank you so much .. you cooking videos give me hope ...God Bless you cooking skills and sharing with others...not to good in kitchen...you are a blessing .again thank you.!!
Delicioso. Just like mi Abulela's. But have a friend who is allergic to coconut and substituted with same amount of heavy cream. Perfect. Still a hint of coconut taste. That's what I use for Coquito, también.
i am definitely going to try it with short grain because the one time i tryed this i used long grain and the rice was still hard. thanks for the videos.
Love the recipe! Thanks! My rice sometimes didn't cook right and I guess it's because I added the sugar before the rice was cooked through. Thanks for the tip! I'll do it your way next time:) Favorite:)
Ooh this looks so good, I'm going to try this next and yeah I hate raisins too, maybe I will try pecans or walnuts instead, I'll let you know how it goes.
LUV YOUR CHANNEL!!!!.....I ALWAYS WANTED TO LEARN MORE TRADITIONAL P.R. FOOD TO COOK, AND WITH THE BY STEP YOU MAKE THE FOOD, HELPED ME BE A WAY BETTER COOK.....THANKS KEEP THE VIDEO UPLOADS :)
My mother was born in PR and she made THEE BEST RICE PUDDING. This recipe is similar, minus the sugar but adding 2 secret ingredient where the sugar would be too much.
It looks so good. Just in time for the holiday season. Ida, I missed what you put in the tea also. I saw cinnamon sticks, anise and what were the white chunks? Was it ginger?
I wonder if instead of making the "tea" you can infuse the coconut milk with the Clove, anise, cinnamon and other spices overnight or several hrs. When you're ready to "cook" you strain it, and then continue the recipe like normal. Let me know if that's possible.
I have one question. What difference does it make if you use long grain, medium grain, or short grain rice for this recipe? I only ever buy long grain because it's a major staple in my house.
+Eric Barreto I do too. The medium grain holds up better and it doesn't open up like the long grain. The long grain is a little bit thinner and it will break up easily with all the cooking.
+Sweets and Beyond Oh okay. I thought it would be the opposite because lately all the Chinos have been using short grain in their fried rice when we order out and I hate it.

How much water do you use to soak the rice and do you rinse the rice first?
I rinse the rice and the water should be about an inch above the rice.
@@sweetsandbeyond ok. Another tupid question does the water need to be absorbed and or do I use whatever water is ther
Can you add vanilla?
I see some people also use coconut cream and condense milk do u recommend that ?
You can, but the traditional dish doesn't use those ingredients
Hi!
Just made my first arroz con dulce!...Everything came out good except its a bit too sweet. Can I do half cup of both sugars?
Mari Santiago Of course!

How long do u boil the ingredients for the "tea" for? Ty
I just discovered your channel, and I love it! Any vegan alternatives you’d recommend instead of the evaporated milk? Thank you so much in advance!
Maybe coconut milk?
Doing it December 23 at night😊
Thank you!!!
Mmmm Delicioso.
What did u use the tea in? I missed it lol

Do I peel the ginger?
Debbie Ocasio Yes.
