  • This activity uses the KIPR Wombat robot used in the Jr. Botball curriculum and JBC Challenge. This is the second ball thrown for the frame.
Set-up: A mat, 10 cans as bowling pins, soft nerf or other ball. Place 1st can/pin on circle #6. Line up the others behind it in bowling formation. Low holder for “bowling ball” to prevent rolling prior to play.
Skill: Precise driving, using servos effectively, creating an algorithm
Goal: Use driving and servos (arm & claw) to pick up and throw a soft bowling ball to knock down pins (cans). Each team’s turn is throwing two balls like in real bowling and teams play 2-3 frames.
    Guidelines:
The robot can start anywhere behind the black start line, but the wheels cannot cross the start line during the approach and throw. Robot can move straight or at an angle.
The robot must pick up the ball using the claw and then drive and throw the ball.
Each team can write up to 5 programs to use for various pin scenarios. (can use a different one for the 2nd ball to try for a spare.
