    Why triplets sound like rolls?

    • @alfiolainidrums4988
      @alfiolainidrums4988  3 года назад +4

      A roll is just the fact to play a constant flow, this there is in fact a triplet roll. But if it sounds like press roll (which is probably what you were asking) it's probably because of the speed and the sticking, i'm using six stroke rolls

  • @alessandroserrao9422

    1:36 a cross-stick missing? Hmmmm.... I think what we are listening at is the actual recording by Philly Joe, not the Alfio Laini drums...

      Hey mister detective! Well seen 😉
      As I only have one camera, I had to record several takes in order to make this nice editing. What we are listening to is the original, plus my take with the camera on my left. It seems that on the take with the camera in front, I indeed missed a hit...

  • @supmet2
    @supmet2 3 года назад +1

    The things that made the people they imitate was invention and creativity. Are there any recordings of Philly Joe Jones playing Zutty Singleton solos? Nope.
    How about Charlie Parker playing Louis Armstrong solos? Yeah...I didn't think so. It's one thing to imitate early on, but to put that stuff up on a RUclips video to show the world?
    Why do it? We can go listen to the original artist recordings. They will always sound better than the imitations.

      In every musician's career, there is a part of learning and digesting the language and vocabulary of the masters, and later a part of forging your own identity and creativity and developing something new. In every musician's career.
      Ask every good musician you want.
      Transcriptions are just part of the process of learning new vocabulary and digesting it to create your own sound afterwards

    • @thorpeenith3436
      @thorpeenith3436 2 года назад +1

      REally dumb take here, as Parker and Armstrong were just like everybody else and started out sounding like shit, and had to work hard, play other people's music, practice their asses off until we finally hear them on recordings. So you're just being really foolish and ignorant, as there's nothing at all wrong with people learning high-level solos and playing them at a high level. Bravo OP, ignore the foolish haters!
