Actually I think he's literally correct, in that this model (the full size Tantive IV) is the second ship we see. This is because the Tantive IV that enters frame at the start was a smaller mini version (about 10" long) for that wide shot.
It would be a great second life for Revell and other model companies to offer kits/parts files from classic models available in all scales for us 3Ders.
For somebody that doesn't really consider himself a painter he did a dang good job! Clearly did his homework and plenty of trial and error learning with large scale painting. It really looks AMAZING!
This video exemplifies what I most love about the modelling community, they will outright reveal the secrets, processes and mistakes with transaparency
Thank you for fuelling more star wars model content, I'm currently building a kitbash/ scratch built ship myself out of a 1:72 Westland speaking model kit I picked up for £1 first time ever 1. Building a model kit 2. Doing something beyond lego or drawing in terms of star wars creativity
It's good that you gave this model the time it desrved to be looked at. And if he ever decided to, or if money was tough, he could sell it for any amount
Its awesome to see so much love for the original Star Wars that blew us all away so many years ago. This model is on genius level - but im eyeing off Artoo in the background too. He's always been my fav. 😁😁
Brings back memories. Around 1987 I went to an "open house" at Skywalker Ranch in Marin County. What turned out to be a very rare opportunity. They had a huge collection of original filming models from Star Wars and other films. They probably had the original Blockade Runner there. Somewhere I've got a VHS tape of the whole thing.
Thanks for sharing that epic build! Can’t wait to someday see that Enterprise Refit of his. (The cameraman sure seemed obsessed with trying to focus on in inside of the cockpit… wonder why 😉.)
Every time Norm started waving his hands around, I got worried he was going to knock the model over. It's hard to tell from the camera angle if he was really that close to it, though.
I am so bummed that I never went up and said hey to Norm. I won't make that mistake again if he returns! It would be amazing to see both Norm and Adam at Wonderfest next year!
I finally understand how the escape pods work on this thing now. Incredible modeling job. And is that a Farah Fawcett poster in the cockpit? LOL. Amazing.
That is a beautiful recreation of the original prop, with some newer flare. Like how they used stuff you look up close at and say, that gun came from an AMT battleship, and that from a tank.
THIS IS Gorgeous! ❤ When you were talking about the opening scene in Star Wars and I was looking at the model I was having flashbacks to seeing it in the theater and the laser blasts as the battle scene took place. And I identify with the maker's critical eye, you see all your mistakes... Ha! Here's a thought: I wonder if the original model makers had the same thoughts about their mistakes in their work and here you are trying to replicate their mistakes? LOL I thought the phone app and the controls for the radar and lighting was as cool as the model. You really did a superb job with that ship and all the tiny little lights and details... I can't say enough how happy I am seeing this! It's a Masterpiece.
What an incredible model. There were definitely some amazing models at Wonderfest this year. Was great to run into you Norm and get to chat for just a minute, hope to see you there next year. Looking forward to more videos from the con.
Very nice. The CR-90 Corellian Corvette (aka the Blockade Runner, aka Galactic Cruiser...and in this case, Tantive IV) is my favorite ship design in all the Star Wars universe.
There was an old film called the Shrinking Man. I watched it as a kid, and always wondered where I'd live if that ever happened to me. At 42, now i finally know. In the bridge if that Tantive IV.
This is fantastic and I love his level of control over the lighting and mounting points. So well thought through and such a fantastic execution this is the first time I’ve ever thought that RUclips needed❤ emoji instead of just thumbs up and thumbs down. I 100% understand that he sees the flaws in his work but to everyone else it’s perfect. As a maker when people call me a perfectionist I say I can’t be a perfectionist because perfection is unattainable so I understand where he’s coming from but that is as near to perfect as you can get. 👏👏👏❤️
Isn't it the first thing you see after the crawl, pursued by the imperial ship? Which is a genius choice, just like having R2D2 and C-3PO finding themselves unexpectedly thrust in the middle of a battle, then Vader entering, be the first of the main characters to appear.
Man, if he offered the files for sale to hardcore modelers and fans he'd make a nice chunk of change. and after dedicating 5 years to it would pay off for his efforts.
Mr Savage, You are the ultimate communicator. The finest and most personable ‘presenter’ there is (at least around my world ) I’d watch paint dry , if you were describing it. I’d just sit there for hours and go 😮 Clearly a ‘Myth Buster’ fan ….I’ve found a truer and deeper understanding of how you see the world, thanks to these uploads: Keep on ‘keeping on’
When they decided it would not be the Millennium Falcon they changed the scale and the cockpit - but interesting to see script elements remaining like the opposing gun turrets.
As someone who's getting back into modeling (mostly kitbashing Warhammer stuff), seeing things like this is *INCREDIBLY* inspiring. Like holy crap - the rotating sensor dish
He forgot the PLAYBOY CENTERFOLD and STAR WARS POSTER in teensy tiny miniature on the BRIDGE of the Blockade Runner. (I've seen the original at the old ILM on Kerner when they were doing KHAN.) D.A.
Im sure most know this fact about the original ship but for those that may not know the model you see in the movie has a mini Star wars poster and Playboy playmate centerfold poster on the inside of the cockpit out of view from the camera.

I love that they even put the tiny pin-up poster in the bridge, thats attention to detail!
Tantive IV is the very first ship we see in Star Wars, then the Star Destroyer.
……….errrrrr, yeah….he must have had a duh moment….
That was my immediate reaction also!
Unlike some of us, he may not be old enough to have had that visual burned into his mind in theater in 1977
Thanks wikipedia

Gambody sells a stl file of the blockade runner. Its not "hard-core" screen accurate, but itsgood enough. And u obviously need a resin 3d printer,
John’s work is beyond stunning on this!
For somebody that doesn't really consider himself a painter he did a dang good job! Clearly did his homework and plenty of trial and error learning with large scale painting. It really looks AMAZING!
The cockpit with the main light off is glorious.
When I first saw this ship, my life changed forever. An amazing work of Art.
As someone who’s starting to learn to make modded model kits with Gunplas, this is mind boggling amazing!! 5 YEARS!! WOW!!
The creative minds behind this spaceship design is mind boggling!
I think this is one of my favourite ship designs from Star Wars
Incredible dedication. It's amazing to see what people are capable of.
Was an epic show! Loved seeing this hammerhead, and loved meeting Norm, what a cool and approachable guy! Thank you for talking with me Norm! 😊🤘🏼🇺🇲
Was so cool to watch this get filmed and meet norm at the show hope he comes back next year
Wow! This is Awesome.
Thank you two you both.
What a beautiful model. So well done. Clearly a lot of love and care went into it and I think the final product is something to be proud of.
This video exemplifies what I most love about the modelling community, they will outright reveal the secrets, processes and mistakes with transaparency
What a wonderful interview! And the model. Oof. Full fan boy level unlocked

This is exactly the inspiration I needed to start my model of the Consular-Class Cruiser. Absolutely amazing!
This was so awesome and then the phone app and the bridge lights took it over the top~ What an amazing build!!!!!
It's good that you gave this model the time it desrved to be looked at.

Johnnnnnnnnn Sabean my guy!!!!!!!!!
Awesome build! Congratulations.

Find it and post it!! :)
Thanks for sharing that epic build! Can’t wait to someday see that Enterprise Refit of his.
(The cameraman sure seemed obsessed with trying to focus on in inside of the cockpit… wonder why 😉.)
The bridge is my favorite part!
Amazing work, I even spotted the easter egg poster/pin up in the cockpit. This will display beautifully. Bravo
Every time Norm started waving his hands around, I got worried he was going to knock the model over. It's hard to tell from the camera angle if he was really that close to it, though.
The foresight to have the option for a hidden bracket is……delicious!
Looks awesome and so it should be, considering it took him 5 years to build.
I am so bummed that I never went up and said hey to Norm. I won't make that mistake again if he returns! It would be amazing to see both Norm and Adam at Wonderfest next year!
I wish I had the time (and actually the talent) to do stuff like this. This may become my hobby when I retire.
that paint job is perfection
Definitely dark bridge with the blinkies😊👍
Awesome work! Amazing detailing. Congrats on completion. My vote for your next model - RC Jawa Sandcrawler!
This is an absolute amazing build! Thank you for sharing this to our lives
I finally understand how the escape pods work on this thing now. Incredible modeling job.
And is that a Farah Fawcett poster in the cockpit? LOL. Amazing.
Came here to see if anyone noticed that!!
Wow, fantastic, and the lights and lighting app are just next level amazing.
That is freaking awesome!
Excellent job. Pure excellence. Keep it up 💪💯
That is a beautiful recreation of the original prop, with some newer flare. Like how they used stuff you look up close at and say, that gun came from an AMT battleship, and that from a tank.
THIS IS WHAT I WANT FOR THE NEXT HASLAB!!! C'MON HASBRO! WHEN ARE WE FINALLY GETTING THE REBEL BLOCKADE RUNNER?!?
John - if that home wall mount doesn’t quite work out - I’d be happy to display this at my house. 😀

Beautiful !!

Absolutely amazing. I would love to see a tour of your shop in a future video. It must be amazing.
I was at Wonderfest this year, an amazing show! My Cursed Starfury with lights and a ton of damage was there, and the only B5 ship in the show.
Very nice. The CR-90 Corellian Corvette (aka the Blockade Runner, aka Galactic Cruiser...and in this case, Tantive IV) is my favorite ship design in all the Star Wars universe.

Blockaid runner was always my favorite ship from starwars.
What a fantastic model, outstanding work!!
... THE Greatest SW vehicle of all time! The ship that started it all off Along Time Ago........
Great work, dedication and precision. I'd like to see this well lit on a turntable 360 video.
lol that guy looking at the ship with his fly unzipped towards the end of this video is hilarious!!
This blows my mind.
The XWing 2.0 tabletop game has a Blockade Runner that is 16" long. It looks really nice.
It's Beautiful...
Great work! It's the first ship you see.
Absolutely fantastic!! Very well done!!
Beautiful work. Really well done.
0:50 It is in fact the FIRST ship you see in Star Wars, not the second. It has always been my favorite!
Amazing ! It’s gorgeous
Oh, the flower pot ship. Neat.
Isn't it the first ship you see in ep4?
I was vending at the show and didn't see you! So bummed. Hope to see more show coverage.
Loooove that ship and this is beautiful! Great work!
Isn't it the first thing you see after the crawl, pursued by the imperial ship? Which is a genius choice, just like having R2D2 and C-3PO finding themselves unexpectedly thrust in the middle of a battle, then Vader entering, be the first of the main characters to appear.
That is correct
Yeah we need to suspend Norm's geek-card for a week or something for saying 2nd. I bet he realised when it was too late to correct it.
I think there are more Panther and Tiger engine decks on Star Wars models than there were Panthers and Tigers in WWII. ;)
😮 Thank you
Man, if he offered the files for sale to hardcore modelers and fans he'd make a nice chunk of change. and after dedicating 5 years to it would pay off for his efforts.

Outstanding.
mmm solidworks. how i miss you
this is insane. love it!
Once again pure jealousy comes over me. But its Norm having all the fun this time. Nice job Norm. We love your content brother.
It's not the SECOND ship you see, it's the FIRST one. Then it's such a shock when you see the size of the Star Destroyer chasing it, in comparison.
Norm's hands furiously gesturing near the model gave me severe anxiety... 👀 😁😇🤟
What a beautiful build !!!
Absolutely amazing work!!!
now i have to go back and watch again, but I think this is the first ship you see not the second

Came here to say the same thing about the Playboy centrefold.
i see playboy poster in the cockpit, i press like
Beautiful build
love that ship :)
Im sure most know this fact about the original ship but for those that may not know the model you see in the movie has a mini Star wars poster and Playboy playmate centerfold poster on the inside of the cockpit out of view from the camera.
Oh man you are fantastic
Wow! Want!
Tamiya 1/35 jadgpanther engine decks on the sides of the main engines.
Since you insist, I'll take it!
It's actually the first ship we see in Star Wars
WOW!
That would be a lot of fun making that🚗💨🦅🇺🇸
:50 "it's like the second ship you see." Nope, it's the first ship you see, right after the pan down to Tatooine after the epilogue scroll.
