Where's Black Sabbath? They were literally the cornerstone of Heavy Metal as a whole.
Metal
It's not classic rock, it's mainly heavy metal. 🤷♂️
Black Sabbath had been a really influencial band. And, when I hear that the band "Blondie" was a PUNK band, I am wondering, just WHO came up with that crock of sh*t.
Blondie was a POP band.
These lists are based on sales, not so much the actual artistry
As a metal head I would say BS are boring.
AC/DC has left the chat.
AC/DC kinda mid
@@mutantfruit9993 Without looking it all up, I do think that Ac/Dc was 70's when they first came about.
@@juliegogola4647 doesn’t change the fact that they’re mid.
@@mutantfruit9993 I just looked it up and Ac/Dc had released "High Voltage" in 1974. So, IF you meant that they are MID, that they had been putting out great music in the MID 70's, that is right. But,. I am an American gal, so, I am kinda thinking that "mid" must mean something other than my dumb American GUESS. They are Aussie's, so maybe MID means that?
Anyhow, AC/DC has been a very great band of my childhood. Sure, lots of their stuff is highly sexual and even sexist, but, it';s rock n roll. And, that is how Rock n roll had been back then. Really, Back in the day, I had just HATED Ted Nugent.
I say that because Ted Nugent had been a BIG OLE PERVE.
I had seen him live, and all he did was grab his junk and sing about how he controlled women, or things along that line of things.
Btw, I am pretty sure Ted was touring with Aerosmith. And, I do know 100% that when Aerosmith came on the stage to perform that Steven Tyler DID grab his crotch. And, he did it quite often.
Now, I am 100% sure that I had seen Aerosmith live in concert on the "Done with mirrors" tour. This had been in Pittsburgh, Pa. Date UNKNOWN.
I had seen them along with my sister. My sister is now passed away. So, I do look on any past experiences with her as being special. But, I am not 100% sure that it had been Aerosmith with Ted Nugent.
I also recall The Philly Pa band "Queensryche" being a part of my experience with spending those few days with my sister in Pittsburgh, Pa.
But, I am pretty sure that she had just bought that bands new CD, and, I had been listening to it on her boombox over and over.
Sadly, my sister died in 2007 from suicide. She had been "Bi POLAR" and her husband was a major piece of shit who only loved himself. He was emotionally abusive to her. Our mom bought her a car, HE said that only he could drive it. Our mom bought them a washer and dryer, he wouldn't hook them up, so she had to walk to a laudromat.
He ignored her. She wanted to watch Tv with him, HE said, "You have your own tv upstairs". Then, she committed suicide. And,he hadn't even discovered her body for about 2 days. The cops had GRILLED him because he hadn't even knew she was dead for a while.
He told her that IF she went home to US her family again, that she need NOT come back home to him again. He took away her credit card too. Long story short, Lady's, IF a guy treats you badly. Lose that jerk. Liars will always LIE.
I have been drinking a good bit of Vodka tonight and that is why I am telling everybody about my sisters suicide. I am now going to end my story, but, I am NOT going to erase it because MAYBE some woman or even some man will realize that IF the person that YOU love treats you badly, YOU CAN DO BETTER. Even IF you don't end up getting a better lover, YOU can make sure that you gain control of your own life. And, hopefully, you will learn to make yourself an important person too. And, do NOT let anybody highjack your brain. I say that because many people end up getting FOOLED into GETTING WITH users, and eventually they dump them, but, after getting SUCKERED into giving those people either MONEY or attention beforehand.
@@mutantfruit9993 you’re literally like 6 years old stfu
I remember everyone had Queen playing on their car stereo…wasn’t a fan, but JTH that’s what I remember.
The Who, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead and of course The Stones.
PINK FLOYD ESPECIALLY!!!!!!!
Deep Purple as well 😅
Boston,Chicago?
Queen?
Blondie? Over these guys? SMH
Pink floyd? Come on
Well geez, why stop at 7...many bands were huge in the 70s...Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rolling Stones, The Who, Steve Miller Band, Steely Dan, Kiss, ELP, Yes, Pink Floyd, Grand Funk Railroad, REO Speedwagon, Santana, Boston, Electric Light Orchestra...and by the latter part of the 70s, a lot of bands were either on the cusp of superstardom or exploding on the scene like Journey, Styx, Van Halen, AC/DC, Judas Priest, The Cars, and Scorpions.
Does no one care about queen?
Don't forget RUSH...
@@alphapotato42they were huge around 76 on they didn’t really rule the 70s like the bands that were there huge the entire decade but i love queen and all of their work from the 70s i think they ruled the 70s but i think the list is based off bands who lasted around the entire decade at superstardom
Don`t forget Slade,ZZ Top,Point Blank,Wailing Wall,SAFT,T Rex
Pink Floyd ruled and still does.
Queen! The greatest nothing more to say!
I served the Great Gods of Prog.....they ruled me. Yes / ELP / King Crimson / Genesis / etc.
You forgot Jethro Tull and the Dixie Dregs.
@@mikesimonian484 Well put. I saw JT somewhere in the Bay Area, and the Dixie Dregs either in Davis CA or in Sacramento. Steve Morse was incredible.
I replied to you above
Rush
Rush.
JEEZ, the guy who wrote this list must have been born in 1988. Kiss were gigantic in the 70's. Peter Frampton was everywhere from 76' to 78. All these groups were great but no way was Blondie or Heart(as good as they were)as big as the aforementioned. The 70's was an awesome time for music, no doubt.😋🤪
Absolutely Right!!!!
Everyone has an opinion, like a butthole
He’s trying to give women an important role in Rock.
He got John McVie and Mick Fleetwood backwards.
Agreed
I was just sat saying "Queen." as soon as he mentioned each band.
KISS was definitely a band that was huge in the 70s. They should have been mentioned!
A great decade. And I was there for it!
Blonde? In the same breath? With immortals. BLONDE? THE SINGING PLAYMATE ONE HIT WONDER. YOU'RE NUTZ!
LMAO the singing playmate? You’re vicious 😂
Kiss, Queen, Bee Gees, Black Sabbath
The roaring 70's --Anne Wilson
The Who?
Let’s be honest, this list is embarrassingly short…
They belonged more the 60's.
ABBA
@@okrham They took off in the 70s, though.
@@okrhamthey really took of in the 70s with Who’s Next though
Three Dog Night rocked the 70s with numerous top of the chart songs
If I had to come up with seven bands that ruled the 1970s, in no particular order, I would go with Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Yes, Rush, The Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd.
It's just Eagles...no "The" in their name.
I would put Sabbath and KISS there as well, but there are only seven spots
Discard the eagles for black sabbath
@@BuccWylde I have been listening to them for decades, yet I never knew that! Thanks.
@@idkhistory6580 I can see the argument. I love Black Sabbath, and they basically started a genre of music. In terms of radio play, recognition, etc., I think Eagles may top them.
The WHO should have been on here.whos next and quadrophenia were masterpieces! Lynard skynard opened up for them in the 70s! Bad idea for ronnie van zant to drink with keith moon though!😆
How many #1 hits did the Bee Gees have during the 70s?? Bee Gees were at the top most of the 70s.
The Bee Gees did have many hit songs in the 70's and MAYBE some in the early 80's.
When the disco era had come to it's end, The Bee Gee's ended up feeling a HUGE backlash against Disco music. But, they did make music by writing hit songs for other artists, and then eventually then had made and sang more music. I recently saw a show on TV that was all about the BEE GEE's.
@@juliegogola4647 I'm a big fan of the Bee Gees because they are so talented. On many levels. Extremely prolific in writing great songs.
Not a rock band.
@@jonlanier_ oh. It was about rock bands. Didn't notice that.
@@jonlanier_yes they were. They are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If The Bee Gees aren't rock then The Beatles aren't rock as well. They were compared to The Beatles starting out...
Eagles announced their farewell tour today, what a shame, such great memories! RIP ❤
Queen, AC/DC, ZZ top, the list goes on. Journey, Boston, what a great time to grow up.
My man, You missed Queen, Black Sabbath, and KISS as well....
Foreigner and Boston???
Love the bands named yet your named bands esp. Boston! With their debut album!?? I mean C'mon❤❤❤❤❤
@@barbiejohnson2813 couldn’t agree more…best debut album ever and certainly not a fluke!
My two favorites
❤ Heart ❤️ Dreamboat Annie! ❤
I would include Rolling Stones, Genesis, Queen and Black Sabbath
Deep Purple!!!
absolutely
@@jalkabre5904
😊
QUEEN

YOU FORGOT ALL THE BEST
I was thinking KISS would be on this list and definitely a band called The Rolling Stones. You might have heard of them.
Kiss are piss no way mat not in any life time
It was a Gold Mine for everything that ever existed at that point. Beyond any odd, or statistic. It makes no sense that ALL GENRES of music were so awesome. From country, to rock, to blues, to RnB, to Grateful Dead, to Disco,to Reggae,etc... It's literally beyond description. You had to be there. The sunshine was even more Golden. I only wish someone had told us it was the peak, never gonna be better. By 1987, things began to darken, like a new Evil Arrived, to ruin it all. People of ALL ages were so much happier, it was insane!
Was a teen in the 70s. Remember all of it well and there was so many more influential R&R bands... A good time to be a kid
You’d expect that Queen would have been on this list too. 70’s Queen wasn’t a band, it was an *experience*
Deep Purple.... Hold my beer!🍺🎸
Teen in the 70's...😎
Yeah 70s where the best days of my life
I’m with you on that one ☝️
Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath were bigger that Blondie...
Actually Black Oak Arkansas was bigger.
Absolutely brilliant
Genesis
They were probably bigger in the 80's.
Honorable mentions:
Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Queen, Pink Floyd, Rush
Aerosmith was notorious for having sound issues in there live shows. I saw them in Orlando at as Rock Sperbowl, Steven Tyler's mic kept picking up the tower at the airport. He ended up throwing the mic stand down and walked off. I played Draw the line just the other day, awesome song.
I was there, man. Citrus Bowl. Brian Adams, Sammy Hagar, Aerosmith and Journey. The rain stopped when Journey came on. I grew up in Stuart.
Saw Aerosmith in 84 or 85 in Reno NV, a few issues with Tyler then too. He's got an explosive temper
😂👍🇺🇲
The guy on the spotlight couldn't keep up with Steven running back n forth, he finally screamed "over here mother fucker!" 😂
Seen aerosmith a ton of times, it was always a roll of the dice which aerosmith you were gonna get, Tyler dope sick Perry dope sick they're both dope sick, or completely jammed out of their minds. Best show I saw them play was at the Manning bowl in Lynn MA 9/14/85
I remember Blondie playing times square when 79 became 80 👍🏻 they were and will always be awesome.
All were masterful
queen has left the chat
You sort of missed a few bands like black sabbath, Uriah heep, deep purple
Kiss was the biggest band of the 7O’s surpassing records set by the Beatles. Kiss should be near the top of every statistical category plus the merchandising and the fact that no one new what they looked like a 4 members sang lead and you put heart on the list before them. C’mon brother.
Queen.
Honk of you saw The Tubes staple it shut on the What Do You Want From Live tour in 1978....the gold standard of live performances.
And we sure had a lot of White Punks on dope
So glad i grew up with all these bands! ❤ Also, Yes, Nugent and Pink Floyd, Foreigner, Queen, 38 Special, Cheap Trick, Genesis, The Who, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath, ELP, Blue Oyster Cult, Boston, Styx, Van Halen on and on!!!! (Allman Bros) ❤
And none of them, none, had the influence, success and legacy of the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. THE 60s ROCKED.
Missed on Fleetwood, crossed pics with Mick & John McVie
No Slim Whitman?!?!? WTF
Top 10 cudda included Yes, Rush, and The Guess Who. Any of these were as good as Heart ❤️.. and I'm a huge fan
Saw all but the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. Saw Stevie Nicks and Joe Walsh as solo acts, darn I'm old.
Made my day y’all put skynyrd in there
What happened to Black Sabbath!?
Rolling Stones started rocking in the 1960s, they went on tour last year.
By far the greatest rock and roll band in the history of the world
If the Beatles had stayed together the Stones would still be #2
@@Chapps1941 "if"
Obviously that is not what happened
@@BobSmith-kd4oc that's, in fact, why "if" was used.
Three Dog Night sold more albums then most of them .Also they actually won top awards.
KISS, Peter Frampton, Bee Gees, Partridge Family, Buglaloos, Paul McCartney and Wings, Ambrosia, Atlantic rhythm section.
The Eagles greatest hits album is the top selling album in America.
What about deep purple and sabbath?
Was thinking the same thing both were killing it.
It's all over now Baby Blue.
To leave out KISS is criminal.
Deep purple, Rolling Stones, Bee Gees, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Stranglers, Police, Pink Floyd, the Who, Barclay James Harvest, Supertramp, Peter Frampton, Frank Zappa, Iggy Pop, Sex Pistols and others
Favs
Growing up I never realised that Dream On is by Aerosmith, Tyler sounds so different. I learned later from an interview that that’s the only time he’s used his natural singing voice!!!
You missed KISS love or hate them they were huge in the 70's, bigger than Heart
Rush has left the chat
My brother in law took the radio off me. He thought I could study better.
Blondie was from my hometown of Hawthorne New Jersey
People under 30, do you listen to classic rock from 1955-1980? That was 60 years ago!
For an experiment, ask people that grew up then, if they were listening to music from the 1890s, and watch the looks they give you.
I like how the announcer said that the seventies was the era of classic rock. Actually in the 70s we just called it rock. It wasn't classic rock until like 20 or 30 years later.
All Awesome bands
Not a mention of Ritchie Blackmore ? He must have sold millions of records in his different guises. Absolute legend.
Never really a fan but KISS WAS the big act from 75 to 77. Loved Heart but I don't see how they (or Blondie) eclipsed KISS on this list.
Emerson Lake &Palmer
Deep Purple
Black Sabbath
Hawkwind
Steely Dan I still listen to their amazingly complex and melodic tunes. Listen to the original Fleetwood Mac . Peter Green, Danny Kirwan and the lads
What happens when Rock bands die, the culture dies but the music lives waiting for young musicians to discover it again!
The album cover for Arrowsmiths first album you show is wrong the first album was “ Get your Wings “
I just watched a show the other and Blondie played a character and o straight up never knew she was from the 70s I grew up playing One Way or Another on Rock Band and never knew she started making music in the 70s till I was like 18
That's back when they bought music. If they still bought music sales would be much higher than they were then
Black Sabbath?
Queen
AC/DC, stones, sabbath, Floyd, who, queen, Boston? Where they at.
Robert Plant is still touring, this year 2023, with Alison Krauss.
You didn't mention Boston or Peter Frampton both of their albums were in every cassette player of every high school kid. I know I was one.
my initial list is: led zeplin boston eagles acdc rolling stones elo styx yes bee gees pink floyd who. There were so many, and so many that went the decade, 'the music never died'.
I was with them right up to Blondie. Hell, you could have said Grand Funk and zi might have agreed.
Van Halen had one of the greatest debut albums of all time in the '70s and influence guitar players all through the '80s.. RIP Eddie Van Halen..
Isn’t the ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ song actually called “All Summer along”
Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Grand Funk Railroad,
Where's Queen & my beautiful Freddie Mercury ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They forgot RUSH !
AC/DC,Wings,Stones,Pink Floyd?
Forgot The Stones, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath.
Sounds like an ad from the old days . Ha ha
Um….all great, I def. Still listening to most of it today, which makes it even better. But where’s the Stones
Rush mid to late 70s!
Rory Gallagher should be in there
I agree, Jimi Hendrix said that Rory Gallagher was the best guitarist ever. And, yes, Jimi Hendrix should be here too.
