    In Indiana, PA, $100,000 will buy you a 3 bed, 2 bath standard house. Of course, well-paid jobs are a bit hard to come by... 🤔

    I can assure you, that the less than 2 grand per meter squared for land in Scotland is much more affordable for the 10+ grand for a meter square in central London

    In London you can a one bedroom apartment for £700,000 in other areas of the countries, with that money you could buy two 4 bedroom detached houses with massive gardens and still have like £100,000 left. It’s crazy how different that can be.

      I expect all those flats in central London are owned by people who already have property elsewhere. Either they let it out to others or use it as their London 'base' when they need to drop into town.

    the sheer confidence of toycat saying "$1,000,000 can buy you a giant mansion in the United States" is staggering. lol I'm sure in Nevada it can but try that amount in a place with any electoral college votes and at best you're gonna get like a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom house in some sort of suburbia

      Looking idly at local homes for sale, the priciest one is for $800,000 and has 4 beds and 2 baths. Admittedly, it does look impressive.

      You need to be a millionaire to own property there, you can rent a bedroom in a multi bedroom flat for several hundred a month, which is insane but still cheaper than anywhere else in London

    As an American just getting out of college and hoping to spend a few years in the UK at some point, I would *love* to live in London, but reality is setting in that the only two good options are living in a beach town like Weymouth, or spending retirement years in however-many decades in a canal boat.

    You could buy 250,000 ultra hard survival: scorched for your 249,999 alt accounts and your main one for that price! Much more worth it in my opinion.

      Problem is you would have to apply for planning permission prior to knowing what could be done with the land ie either way they lose a little money upfront.

    It's not that bad compared to Australia. The idea that you could get an actual house within a 1 hour walk of the city center for $1m is amazing, in Melbourne you're doing well to get somewhere within a 1 hour drive of the city for that.

    In Hong Kong here, you can buy a decent size apartment for the price of a 2 story house in the US
