There really is an art to making the comedic sidekick actually funny and not too intrusive. You don't realize how much work went into getting Wheatley or Russel right until you see it done badly. There's so much of back and forth dialogue here you could lose and nothing about the game would change.
Mimir is another great example of a comedic sidekick that chimes in often enough for humor to arise but never becomes annoying or overbearing. Often it’s Kratos’ reaction to Mimir that elicits the actual humor, their interactions are naturally funny due to their opposite personalities. Or you could go the Forespoken route and just write quirky LOL Reddit dialogue
I love with how slow Frey is escaping the thugs, one of them still has her gun and can straight up shoot her from a distance but just stands there watching the show.
In Devil May Cry 3 there is a weapon that can talk but Dante hits it if it ever talks and only keeps it as long as it promises to not talk, and I think the game would be much better if they did the same here.
The best pet is in gameplay certain combos make Angi and Rudra get super hype and start making noise only for the finisher to just have Dante go “Silence!”

Whats interesting about her dynamic with Homer is that she's upset at not having the cat anymore. Not worried it'll be in trouble, or that she needs any help. She dumps it off on someone who just accepts it with no consequences or argument. And by the end of it she Literally laughs at the idea that her cat needs any help and isn't completely being taken care of
The only moment this game got me emotional was watching Frey's cat clearly missing her.... The only character that made me feel *something* was. the. cat 🤨
The chemistry between 3 unemployed lets players sitting on a couch with fast food crumbs all over them and their one controller is somehow better than any chemistry between any character in this entire game, or any storyline or subplot. Corporate Games are truly fascinating, like watching a mostquito drown in cow dung.

You've heard the expression "a game for everyone is a game for no-one" before. But even games like mario kart that are 'for everyone' appeal to their target demographic better than this crap. Idk I find it kind of crazy how a company like Square Enix thats in the hundreds of millions of $ can be so estranged from normal everday human interactions that they let this game hit shelves thinking everything was alright. It doesnt make sense because its not as if SE is made up of robots and AI. Theres bad writing thats atleast self-aware and can indulge in its poor quality, but then theres BAAAAD writing. Every company is comprised of real people, so how can this game be so outlandishly bad at depicting natural human interaction? Keep in mind its not just writers that suck here. This game had to go through testing and product quality assurance before it was released and your telling me nobody thought "huh, the writing kinda sucks ass here we should maybe re-write some stuff." -edit: my bad I forgot SE is a Japanese company so the writers were most likely Japanese. Obviously the Japanese language operates differently to English hence why the writing is so weird here. Ofc its not just the writing, its also Japanese writing tropes such as mannerisms, character archetypes, dialogue flow.etc and I guess you could make the case that localization can only do so much.

The way that the cat is recorded so awkwardly, I have to guess that it was one of the developers' or writers' cats, who had already passed on, so they couldn't get any new audio from the cat to make it sound fitting and appropriate. So they just use the echoey, out-of-place audio.
Usually, other let's players would choose the hardest difficulty on a game they know would be shit for the sake of entertainment value (at least for the viewers). But this trio, fuck no! They don't want to waste any time and just want to finish the game as quickly as possible. I respect them for that.

I honestly think some of it was intentional. Its kinda more realistic, in a way, to imagine Frey as an unwilling anti-hero character. Lots of people I know aren't inherently bad but because of their shitty situation, they act out and push people away. Problem is they're not even trying to show her as sympathetic at all, she has no human moments as far as we've seen yet.
They were Sweet Baby'd, they paid a woke writing consultancy firm to make their characters "diverse" and "breaking stereotypes about women" - ie make her as as unlikeable as possible instead of a likeable women 🙄

They were Sweet Baby'd, they paid a woke writing consultancy firm to make their characters "diverse" and "breaking stereotypes about women" - ie make her as as unlikeable as possible instead of a likeable women 🙄
The writers project their own personalities onto their characters. They're boring, bland, narcissistic douchebags and that shows with every single character they write.
