- The Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears just took place, and many observations were seen for the play on the field for the regular season Week 13 game. Who were the standouts in the game-making sports for the Detroit Lions? Who were the players who did not do well for the Lions? The video contains observations from the Detroit Lion’s win against the Bears.
For a half, it looked like the Detroit Lions were in control of this game on a level they have been all season. Then things fell apart in a hurry in the final two quarters against the Chicago Bears, but a late-game meltdown from Caleb Williams and Matt Eberflus saved the day.
Questions for this video
Who is the MVP of the game?
Who is the offensive MVP?
Who is the defensive MVP?
One-word reaction to the win, go!
Let’s dive into the Lions’ performance a little deeper with six winners and two losers from the Thanksgiving Day game.
Winner: DJ Reader
The Lions signed Reader this offseason to bolster their run defense to an even higher level, and he’s done a good job of that, especially as of late. But he has really come on as a pass rusher, too. In the last two games, he has FIVE quarterback hits, including three against the Bears, two of which turned into sacks.
For the season, he now has a career-high 3.0 sacks, and his eight quarterback hits are second-most in his illustrious career.
Winner: Al-Quadin Muhammad
Sticking with the defensive line, when Josh Paschal went down, it looked like bad news for Detroit’s already thin EDGE room. However, Muhammad jumped into the lineup and made a solid impact in the pass rush. He tallied one of the Lions’ five sacks of the game, and provide a few other pressures.
“I thought Al-Muhammad played big for us,” coach Dan Campbell said after the game. “It was good to get him back in the lineup. He’s a relentless player, gives you all he’s got. Great job with the defensive staff getting the next guy up.”
But his best play of the game may have been when he dropped into coverage and batted away a pass on third down on the final drive of the game. That should have been the final fourth down of the game, had it not been for an egregiously bad pass interference penalty that kept the Bears alive.
Loser: Lions’ linebacker depth
The injury bug has been cruelly unkind to the Lions’ linebacker room. Going into this game, three of their top five linebackers-Derrick Barnes, Alex Anzalone, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin-were already on injured reserve. Unfortunately, it looks like a fourth may be joining them.
Malcolm Rodriguez suffered a knee injury in the second half against the Bears, and Campbell did not sound optimistic about it.
“Rodrigo is the one (injury) that could be the worst,” Campbell said. “And I don’t know how significant it’ll be just yet, but he’s the one I fear a little bit, could be down.”
Detroit is beat up on the defensive line, but they have bodies there who are making plays. It’s going to be harder to make up for the linebacker injuries, because many of the next players up (David Long, Ezekiel Turner) are linebackers who were added to the team in the past month.
Winner: Za’Darius Smith
Smith may have already lived up to the billing after Detroit’s midseason trade for the veteran pass rusher. While he didn’t always keep the necessary contain, he constantly got Caleb Williams off his spot and forced him to make plays on the run. On top of that, Smith picked up 1.5 sacks and three quarterback hits.
His final sack of the game-showing his great get-off speed-essentially single-handedly gave Detroit the win, immediately leading to the Bears’ implosion.
Winner: Lions running game
Though they got away from it in the second half and failed to pick up a key third-and-1 late in the game, the Lions running game was a big reason they were able to jump out to a big lead. In the first half alone, the Lions had 21 rushes for 144 yards (6.9 YPC). Even after getting slowed down a bit in the final two quarters, Detroit posted a total of 194 rushing yards at 5.9 yards per carry. That’s their second-highest rushing total this season.
Loser: Mistakes from Gibbs, Jameson Williams
It seems wrong to call Jahmyr Gibbs a loser in this game considering he produced so many explosive plays. However, his fumble at the end of the first half was devastating-costing the Lions at least three points, but more likely seven. Fumbles happen, so no need to kill the guy, but that was a hit Gibbs could see coming and he should’ve protected the ball better.

Refs simply stopped making calls against the bears after half. Our dline was getting held, tackled and pinned on almost every drive they had a completion
I noticed 2 cases very clearly the play clock expired and no call came but then late flags on the lions. The first one Tony even called out but then quickly silenced himself when it was obvious they were not going to call a delay of game. I thought that was horse shit. Honestly, I don't think a fix was in, I just think the Ref crew did a poor job.
The Lions got jobbed a bunch also. What about when the refs tried to give you the game with that PI call on Vildor? The Bears should only blame themselves.
@@craryder I was screaming at the TV both times when that happened
The Bears player tripped Jamo - not saying Jamo was right - but his response was understandable.
Same player pushed him back before laporta scored the second touchdown, around the 20 yard lines Gibbs scored 3 yards jamo jumped ahead and 24or29 pushed him after the play.
That’s valuable info I didn’t know about that Absolves Jamo a least a little bit.
Also Tim Patrick didnt get shot like Josh Reynolds did. I think JAMO apologizing to the team unsolicited was a big step for him and antwan randle el let him have it after the play
Happy we finally won on thanksgiving🎉🎉🎉
Sam LaPorta, of course... offensive MVP
What ticked me off is when they called vildor for the p.i but they didnt call false start on bears on that same play... If you missed it, go back and take a look
not an excuse for Jamo, but the player he threw the ball at , shoved Jamo as he went by him on the way out
Jack Campbell is a one man LB machine
Best start in Detroit history let's go
Prayers for 44 ❤
This is why bye weeks should be the middle 3 weeks of the season, period. Weeks 8, 9 and 10 only. The Lions had a week 5 bye, which is ridiculous. The schedulers need to do better.
Prayers for 44
Muhammad stepping up big yesterday!
Yessir he has one of the best builds on the team I think he will go off now with more snaps
Vildor is playing better than most people think. He’s actually sticky on WRs but just needs to get his head around which is a far cry from the DBs last year alll out of place !!
He was the DB from last year
Also that PI call on him near the end of the game was not his fault man like the bears player was on him and Vildor pushes off of him to cry and catch the ball… and he gets penalized
@@bingo8789 yes and he took Jacob’s spot and he has gotten better and better and better
UPDATE: Malcolm Rodriguez finished for the season with an ACL tear. Damn.
Happy Thanksgiving Mike
44 prayers up
John Madden and Pat Summerall would be proud of the lions last season and this season
I’m coming for everyone blaming Jamo! Bro, Gibbs was more devastating. Ntm, Stevenson was doing this all game and the straw that broke the camels back was the trip. THAT was where you get the ball flip. As far as the maturity, how come your not mentioning this is a player battling?? Keenan Allen is a 10 year vet and threw a ball at a referee. That’s way worst to team and He knows better more than ANYONE on the field for both teams! Point is, in the heat of battle, stuff like this can happen. Tempers flare. This is competition. So all this, Jamo is costing his team is BS! ALL PENALTIES HURT!! I don’t hear no one saying anything about St.Brown rants. No one saying anything about Amik. These things happen, you guys are picking on Jamo bc the National media has his name in thei mouths bc they are jealous of our success. I’m ot sayin Jamo doesn’t deserve a talking to buy him addressing the team himself makes this nothing. His maturity stepped up then and handled it. He’ll have more but it’s how he handles them going forward. Fans need to calm down and quit crying or measly stuff. Jamo didn’t do worse than Gibbs taking points off the board.🤷🏾♂️
This again shows how important Decker is to the ol .. Goff has problem in the passing game without him..
Jamo was hit out of bounds by a player on the sideline- same guy he slapped the ball at- no excuses, but hey, yet another blown call in a terrible officiated game both ways
Fr brother like that same bears player was on his ass the entire game… and nobody called flags on the bears player…
@@pranavdamera3013 there were two other points where 24 had pushed jamo after the play was over leading up to the ball toss injunction
Lions will need have a better offensive performance to get to the Super Bowl. I think they can with current team, but offensive line needs get healthy and draft Offensive Lineman to upgrade and provide depth as well as draft a premier DE.
DJ reader my unsung hero
Shows how far this team has come. We had injuries, didn't pay or best, may have got Chicago's best shot, and STILL won.
I think Long did a nice job on defense just coming in a couple weeks ago
We still have a healthy Ben Niemann and Trevor Nowaske for linebackers - they've both done a pretty good job.
This is an all star team 🎉
Montgomery had key gains at tough parts of the game.
Positive, we continue to win🙂
As for Jamo…I remain a huge fan. He’s done a couple of dumb things, but I appreciate the way that he manned up to his mistake and has apologized to the team. Thats a big time move. I’m not going to say that what he did was the wisest move, because it’s always the retaliation that gets noticed, but it was an understandable reaction to being tripped by a guy on the sidelines. Next time, I’d hope that he’d have the maturity to point out that Williams is out on the field while that guy was on the sidelines. And leave it there.
Goff for offense MVP
D.J. Reader for defense.
Our positive is we snapped the T-Day curse!
I honestly didn’t feel too good about that win. A win is a win but ffs the injuries and the whole second half was driving me nuts. Had it not been for the Bears ATROCIOUS head coach, they could’ve won or at least sent it into OT. We need to clean it up, but we good. 🦁🦁
44 Prayers up
He performed the Saquan Barclays move
Bears offense played well against our 2nd and 3rd string defense!
David long jr looked good omg
Lions just signed Kwon Alexander from denvers practice squad
Look, as I repeatedly point out, I’ve been a fan for 45 years (if you’re a Sopranos fan, you can call me the Phil Leotardo of this page…you know, he did 20 years in the can).
Frankly, I would’ve been disappointed had they lost yesterday, but I’d STILL be just fine and Dandy with 10-2. The fact that we likely clinched a playoff spot with the all time best record is simply thrilling to this longtime (did I mention that I’ve been a fan since 1979?) fan.
No good at all. This entire medical team needs to be fired at the end of the year. This amount of injuries is disgraceful.
I’m afraid that the injuries are going to derail our path to the NFC top seed and NFC North. And lions may be better off in accepting that and making the best out of it.
Lions should try to best prepare themselves for a long playoff run as the top seeded wildcard team. They should hope to Get healthy and do as much as possible to preserve starter health and endurance for the tournament. Treat the rest of the schedule like quasi pre-season games. Be quick to pull players showing the slightest injuries and fatigue. Limit the number of snaps players get each game. Maybe we pull Goff and members of the O Line in games early, regardless of the score

On the bears first td they was holding Mohammed
One-word reaction to the win, go!
Lucky
@@johnholmes2808 The Bears also got lucky. It goes both ways. A lucky win would be something like a throw bounces off a players head into the hands of another player. We sacked Caleb and they ran out of time. Maybe their offensive line should have done better. This was not a lucky win.
My one word reaction is “injuries”! GO LIONS
@@wmsnowboarding336 The injuries are definitely stacking up.
Brad Holmes needs to get on the horn.
If the Lions had lost this game I would have blamed Jamo because after he threw that ball in that guy’s face that just fired up the Bears and they went right down and scored a touchdown
Who is the MVP of the game?
Jameson Williams has demonstrated that he will NEVER learn to stop his immature antics. Don't hold your breath.

Who is the offensive MVP?
Saquon
Referees were wrong multiple times, the penalty on Jamo should been a no calL Or it should oN both players.
Penei Sewell is the MVP
Where was Brian Branch? M.I.A. All game.
I say just sit everyone next game and let them heal or better yet just forfeit. I seen us splitting with them anyways….
Keep it up, Jamo, that next contract keeps getting cheaper. Be smart young man.
My offensive MVP for the Lions is Jamo
Bro, I watch other streamers and they swear up a storm and it’s annoying. Prior to yesterday, I commend you for keeping your cool but the swearing has to stop. Never seen you cuss that much and I watch with my kid so please don’t say the bad words.
It’s his channel…. He can say what he wants. Yes he’s one of the good ones but still…. That game pissed everyone off
what set him apart was his staying clean. If you're ok with swearing, that's fine with you but I watch to hear the game and not hear fck fck fck every 10 words with my kid. he went a little wayward but if he sees this, he would appreciate it as he has a kid and knows what I mean. If you're not a parent, you don't understand
@@808kahulaa It was at the end of the game when things were tense. There was virtually no swearing before that point.
Not saying that your feelings are invalid…I worked in public schools for 12 years and am very sensitive to that sort of thing…but that’s the risk that one runs when listening to a Podcast as opposed to network TV.
As a matter of interest, which Island are you on? My wife and I have been to Maui 4 times and consider it to be our spiritual home. I cried when Lahaina burned. We stayed in Ka’anapali all 4 times and love that area. But I love Haleakala and the countryside just as much.
@@RobertBruce-f9g yes, I'm fully aware it was at the end as I watch his channel even with it broadcasted as it was yesterday. I mentioned he stays clean in my reply above. I heard him say BS before but never multiple f bombs. He stands above the other chat folks because he lets the broadcasters go until the jingle but lets it play. other chat streamers are boring af and they swear, a lot. his work would be diminished with a potty mouth, just my observation
@ Not arguing, since they’re your feelings. Just pointing out that it was a significantly small portion of the broadcast is all.
Is Kahulaa on Kauai by any chance?
I question the team’s conditioning coach and program overall. The Lions need to rethink how they are stretching, strengthening, and conditioning the team. I think they should bring in a yoga instructor and get these guys properly stretched and to avoid all these soft tissue injuries.
Jameson is what 21yo?...we all did stupid stuff when we were his age
He’s 23, but yeah he’s a baby.
@@Simp-Bizkit Ya but don't act like you did dumb shit when you was at that age though.
@@keithross5650 I’m a huge Jamo fan, but that was just dumb. As Kimber correctly pointed out, it’s not just the incident itself: it’s signaling to Defensive players everywhere that you can get under his skin. Thats the long term problem here.
44 is Lion get healthy
Yikes heard Rodriguez is out for the rest of the season with a torn ACl 😢
GB is going to be a close game. We to steal pratice squeed guys from other team who can play line backer.
We play Thursday! Ugh
We have a week to recover, instead of a few days
How many more chances are you going to give Jamo?
Players are humans not Robots.. Like a lot of fans like you think …
As many as possible
A LOT
Dude he’s 23, and he apologized. It’s the NFC North old timer, it was a heated game, and he’s a kid. I will say he DOES need to grow up but give the kid as many chances as he needs, and we can be hopeful that he will continue to improve and be the talent we know he can be.
This is football, it comes with the territory
Hi
We dont have 10days before we play the packers we play them on Thursday night. It is time to say goodbye to Emmanuel Mosley.
Mostly is the most fragile player I’ve ever seen. The guy gets injured getting out of bed. It’s time for Lions to get rid of this phantom player so we don’t have waste our time saying his name
@ hes getting paid way to much money to be an assistant Secondary Coach while taking up a roster spot. We need a replacement for Decker and Ragnow in the next 2 drafts before our oline falls apart and gets old like the Cowboys did.
Winner winner turkey dinner 😂
Thumbs up for 44
Going to be bad two home games lost next to
Go lions josh Allen going run all over the place

They’re going to get torn up by the Packers and the Bills. I hope I’m wrong but we have been just getting by against weak teams.
Good teams win ugly games . Need more discipline
Running back Gibbs!
10 days off?
Who’s #69? …Muhammad welcome to Detroit 🦁
Lucky's run out the Lions lose the Packers and bills
Mohamed
Defat… lol
I think the Lions strength and flexibility coach needs to be fired.
Didn't Dan fire the position last year
. Yes he did.
J Mo is looking for attn.
No it's the mentality you need to play football
Maybe the Lions have gone as far as they can go. I hope not but being thankful this week 🦃
The Lions will not win in the Super Bowl even if they even get there. They have way too many injuries now.
