Damn...that's terrible. I've never heard of parents forcing their child to study less. Focus on things you can still change and don't think too much about what you can't! You'll get there eventually :) Hope things get better for you!

The exam is designed for 14 - 16 year olds, but anyone can take them. It is a pretty well known standardized test offered by Cambridge international examinations, you can find more information about it on their website. If you're interested, you need to enroll in a school that offers IGCSE exams, but I'd suggest you to go find more information first.
