Do not go to all this trouble! THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO REMOVE YOUR HEADLIGHT.
There is a clip in front of the fuse box, unclip it. Pull the plastic cover off (it will slide out). This is the same as you might have seen on the drivers side, the job is no different. Reach underneath into the headlight and feel for the first wires, follow to the bulb. Give it a wiggle and look at the bulb through the headlight and you will see it moving. Carefully wiggle the block connector and tease it out. The bulb will come out connected to the wire. Remove the bulb. Put the new one in. Do the steps previous in reverse. Literally the hardest part of this job is to put the plastic cover back on when you're finished. Takes about 60 seconds when you know how. (Corsa D 1.4 Sxi 2011 owner)

Thanks for this comment man! The haynes manual is even worse, says I have to remove the front bumper plus all this stuff in the video just to change the pissing headlight bulb?! Your comment saved a whole bunch of time. Thanks man!

Thank you. My dad has been puzzled with this bulb for quite some time now. All the other videos that I have seen is for the drivers side. Thank you.

I find it's a much easier job to just keep the old bulbs and replace the rest of the car with one which has sensible, easy access to commonly needed areas.
Seriously, though, you can do it with just the fuse box top removal and small hands. To replace the plastic cover on the back of the headlamp housing, you may have to slightly lever the hinge claws into place on the hinge, whilst holding the cover as ajar as you can get it.

Excellent, thanks. Even a mechanichal numpty like me can follow this guide. It grieves me to pay garage fees for something as trivial as a light bulb. There should be a law against this type of design engineering.

Well just had a go at this and got the bulb changed successfully so thanks a lot. I first took off the fuse cover and was able to pop open the bulb cover and remove the blown bulb in about a minute. Great thinks me, this is gonna be easy. Popped the bulb back in the holder and tried to get it back into position in the lamp. This is when it all went to pieces as I just couldn't get it into position because I wasn`t sure of the position of the little lug on the new bulb within the lamp so it would all slot together. After a while I had to resort to the whole process described in this excellent video and got the new bulb installed. If you know where the lug is you may be able to push the lamp back in without dismantling everything if you are lucky. It goes at the top.

I done what you did first time without removing the light I was lucky BUT! the second time round wasn't so lucky I exploded! Lol thought to do this as there wasn't a video for this side of the car, now I can keep calm and replace the bulb lol glad this helped 👍

I had to do this very fix recently. It Infuriates me how hard they make this job. They have to be doing this on purpose. There is absolutely no reason to make accessing the bulbs this difficult. Just imagine having to do this in the dark on the side of the road. This sort of design is bordering on criminal

Thanks for posting this ! Initially I thought , what a palavour , especially when the handbook says " just remove the fusebox cover and take off the top of the washer bottle ". Should have watched this first. Managed to replace the bulb ok but couldn't replace the cover on the back of the light so ended up removing the light to do it. If there area any other amateurs out there like me ....save yourself time and follow this video ! Thanks again.

Its good that you made the effort to make the video but on my Vauxhall Corsa 2010 you can just unclip, reach inside with fingers, give it a firm wiggle and pull it out to replace it. Previous comments posted on here thankfully stopped me dismantling everything and gave me a simpler solution so I commend your video as it inadvertently helped me.

Hi - I've removed all the screws and can unclip almost everything except for at the top of the wheel arch. It seems as though something is still attached. By the higher star shaped screw there's another screw going horizontally through the front bumper and the grey mudguard that surrounds the wheel. I think this is preventing me from taking it off - did you have the same problem?

It is shameful that car manufacturers make it so difficult to complete basic maintenance tasks. I can only imagine that they do this to deter car owners from changing the bulbs and to encourage them to use their own (over priced) workshops. Perhaps somebody from GM/Vauxhall would like to offer an explanation? To be fair, it isn't just Vauxhall, as there are many other manufacturers who do the same.

Just completed this and took around 30 minutes. Will be much quicker if you have the tools ready. I tried the quick method below but the light bulb would not move so I pulled very hard and broke the light so I had to do the long method. Yes I agree that is it absurd that they make these cars so difficult to do basic maintenance task such as changing a bulb. All they had to do was to put in a mechanism to twist out the bulb as it is very difficult to pull it out with the 1 inch space that they give. So shame on you Vauxhall, get this sorted out for your future models.

I did it today too, swearing like a lunatic on a street with a sound of ratchet and car parts getting off. This design is so stupid one who created this should be changing them on this car for the rest of his miserable life. Of course in the night... I just simply wanted to check if there was easier way here, but sure there is not. I could not even put fingers there, not to see what am i doing. I only disassembled upper two headlight screws as i did not want to remove the bottom one due to obvious reasons. Got a little extra room to wiggle my hand there...

You don't have to do this. If doing Offside front bulb, remove airbox and undo metal clip on bulb cover and pull cover off and then remove bulb by pulling. Easy as that! Near side, just remove fuse box cover to give you a bit more room and the process is the same. This long process as in video is totally unecessary!

  • @iantheinventor
    @iantheinventor 9 лет назад

No need to remove the headlight unit, remove cover for fuses. Then remove rear access panel of light unit, you can then access the bulb which tends to come out attached to cable, I find it best to connect the cable to new bulb & put into position. Then simply replace rear access cover & the fuse box cover.

Terrible Vauxhall design. Just been trying to replace the dipped beam on my grand daughters 2014 Corsa and gave up. My 2007 Ford Focus, undo one screw and the whole headlight assembly pulls out!!
