Premier disque d’une série de 7 volumes consacrés aux Cantates de Bach, Paul Agnew et Les Arts Florissants nous invitent à suivre l’itinéraire créateur de Jean-Sébastien Bach au gré des époques et des villes où il résida. Pour cette première étape, ils nous font découvrir un jeune maître fidèle à la tradition des concerts spirituels de l’Allemagne du Nord, mais déjà très personnel et inventif.
In this new series, Paul Agnew and Les Arts Florissants invite us to follow the creative itinerary of J. S. Bach through the times and cities in which he lived. The first instalment introduces us to a young master who remained faithful to the north German tradition of the sacred concerto, but already displayed an intensely personal invention.
Mit dieser neuen Reihe laden Paul Agnew und Les Arts Florissants uns ein, den künstlerischen Werdegang von J.S. Bach anhand von dessen Schaffensperioden und Wohnorten
nach zu vollziehen. In der ersten Etappe entdecken wir einen jungen Meister, der die Tradition der geistlichen Konzerte Norddeutschlands fortsetzt, dabei aber bereits eine überaus persönliche und fantasievolle Art offenbart.

Masterpiece !!! This is the best performance of this Chaconne-style chorus. 👏👏👏Bravo Paul Agnew and the entire musicians - but particularly the sopran Miriam Allan and the bass Edward Grint - who accentuate the drama with the strings accompaniment and the long lines of the voices. BRAVO!
