Black Hawk Downs soundtrack changed EVERYTHING. every war movie after it, every war game, everything is doing this style of middle eastern tunes with electronic and rock touches to it, and there is no going back.
This movie has become absolutly my preferred one (I saw it at least 20 times) and the courage, the value, the professionalism of those guys, has become a model of true military comradeship. How to forget the courage and the abnegation of two Heroes, as Gary Gordon and Randy Shughart? How to forget many others killed or injured that day? this is the one movie i broke down and sobbed to death over...i was in iraq and my two friends in my squad were gunned down...i repressed everything until i watched this and now i am feeling better after some time. War is sick. Games make it out to be romantic and heroic. Its just not the same feeling when youre soaked in the blood of the guy you were talking about favorite books the night before he was slaughtered.
Hans Zimmer's music is awesome. I first learned about his music from this movie. I love is work on Modern Warfare 2. I also like Steve Jablonsky and Harry Gregson-Williams' music.
The Black Hawk Down-style blend of distorted riffs and Arabian music on top is basically the standard that every action and thriller movie composer takes for his soundtrack.

Really amazing movie,read the book too. And i met Mike Durant At the PX At Fort Hood,when he was signing autographs for the new book he helped in It's called "The Nightstalkers" Haha he looked alot different now. Gray hair and everything. =) Real heroes.Funny how the unlikeliest people become them.
Yesterday I got to know that for 75% sure I'll be deployed in Libanon in November. All the time after the call I've been listening to these soundtracks. In car, home, while doing sports. Dunno why these touches me...ps. I live in Finland so I belong to FRDF (Finnish Rapid Deployment Forces).

It was the only picture taken from the ground during the battle; given the version in Mark Bowden's book is black & white, I haven't seen it in color before so this one shocked me & to top it off it is very clear
@mcaval6 yeah that's very true, soldiers understand that as well, but when we have to do our job we have to let go of that concept, its the most painful thing any human being could ever go through... people ask us, do you think you're making a difference? do you think you're a hero? nobody can explain why they want to fight, why they would risk there life and take a bullet for you, just respect us for what we do, we dont ask for much... thank you for supporting us... the little things mean alot

In 1993, I was 11 years old and of that day I only remember a few frames on TV-News; nothing else: the (dead) body of an American soldier, on which the rebels raged. I was very upset by that scene, and I've never forgotten it. When, in the 2001, I saw the movie "Black Hawk Down" for the first time, has been like if I had relived that day...The same anguish, tightened my throat and touched me.

I am currently Playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare. And I think some of the music is reminiscent of Black Hawk down. This is an old English Folk song "Are You Going to Scarborough Fair" You might have heard it in "THE GRADUATE". I am made up that the Guy who made this Film was Ridley Scott and is English he pulled no punches and was able top paint an almost accurate picture of the follies of war without constraints.
@MikeIronweaver56 there is a BHD mission in cod4 but its a cobbra not a hawk tho its still pretty cool then a nuke goes off and kills everyone only if we could have gotten out of there sooner
This is a heartrending, eye-opening, amazingly executed movie..I have the 3-Disc Deluxe Edition..it's well worth buying! Disc 3 has awesome documentaries from PBS and The History Channel containing true accounts of the ambush on Mogadishu, Somalia, and a feature on Michael Durant, Chief Warrant Officer-4..the American Black Hawk helicopter pilot who was shot down and held captive 11 days during the Battle of Mogadishu..check out his book "In The Company of Heroes"..excellent reading.
Mix electric guitar with Oud and oriental stuff and what you get is EFFING AWESOMENESS ! that's why music is amazing, the east and the west can be good together :)

It shows me that the American soldier has no limits, no bounds, no fears.. Not when it comes to fighting in the name of their country. They left no one behind, fought to the death for the bodies of their fallen comrades. It's sacrifice like this that makes me proud to be American. next week I join the Navy to be a Corpsman

We remember 18 brave lads who died that day and those who risked everything to save their mates. A true testament of human character in the worst of situations. They will be remembered by all soldiers, including myself, regardless of their capbadge, culture or patriotism. This movie really speaks from a soldier's point of view.

such an approptriate soundtrack to a truly great movie. the middle track in this is like a tribute to a soldiers courage to me.

The whole Black Hawk Down Soundtrack collection really ads THE emotion u should feel to the conditions in this movie.
I love this soundtrack, Hanz Zimmer does an amazing job of mixing rock and african elements into one to create the chaos and sorrow of war.

Every commander goes through the same thing. They see those men as their children, a commander wants what's best for his troops.
Randy was the Delta sniper that went it to help rescue Mike. He received the Medal of Honor posthumously.
