This song was written in honor of Her Majesty Queen Victoria's diamond Jubilee in 1896-1897
this is not the imperial march I was looking for :-)
😅
you can go about your business, move along. hahahahaha!
Yeah, but Darth Vader can't play the Wanamaker Organ like this, with or without the Force.
Are you thinking of Pomp & Circumstance No 3?
Force is in you.
Before anyone else starts commenting about how it's not the one from Star Wars, everyone knows. Even the description says so.
You are correct, I had Crown Imperial in mind, not Imperial March. All of my relations who would have remembered the 1897 Jubilee are deceased; the last one was Princess Alice, who died in early 1981. BTW I do have the medal issued for that Jubilee - a gold one for family members.
Unless I am in error, that was composed for the Coronation in 1937. Since David renounced his rights, the piece was still used for Cousin Bertie and Elizabeth who were crowned on 12 May - the same day was to be David's.
you are pathetic.
Imagine how loud this would be
Actually not very. It's a massive organ, but the point is not to be loud. Rather, to be extremely flexible. It's rare to use more than a third of the organ at once. Also that space is huge, so the organ isn't overpowering in it.
Being there multiple times it actually isn’t really loud some pieces Peter does play a lot louder but not overwhelming or overpowering loud you barely ever hear like 25% of the organ being played at the same time.
Very interesting to compare this version with that of Carlo Curley (RIP Carlo!) on the Harrison at Saint Mary Redcliffe, Bristol. I don't think there's a lot to choose between the two performances. Redcliffe is perhaps the more aggressive organ, grabbing you by the scruff of the neck and letting fly right in your face with one of the greatest Tubas on the planet, but the lush tones and sheer refinement of the Wanamaker organ suit this music very well indeed.
I've now seen both performances . The Redcliffe version is much clearer to hear , and one thing I will strongly suggest is that ever you go to Bristol a visit to this church is a must . Thank goodness St.Mary's survived the blitz .
It is because it not the Imperial March from Star Wars :P
Most likely not, as Elgar died in 1934. Furthermore, harmonically it sounds like something from the late 19th century, especially compared to Guilmant's Marche Religeuse.
Yes, I agree with you :-)
You know the organ profession is hurting when you have to moonlight as a security guard.
Oh', I get it, that's Hauptwerk.
No that’s so he can see the conductor. Or some other thing
Which empire was that ?
The British impire to honor her most excellent british imperial and royal Majesty the Late Queen-Empress Victoria. Who else?
Ahem. Is this organ truly playable? I mean, 6 consoles,(?) & at least 11 rows of stops.
yes, it is the largest playable organ in the world. It has about 28,000 pipes
Yes the organ has been playable for a while now, and it is mainly a symphonic organ, which means that it can make sounds that the symphony orchestra can, this organ has just below 29000 pipes although the exact number in unsure, and it equals about 3 symphony orchestras, and out of all those pipes around 8000 of them are string pipes that imitate the string section of the orchestra. If you don’t live to far away it is something that you should do when you have time. Being there lots of times before it isn’t a sound that you can replicate off your phone or even with extremely good speakers.
certainly it is, as long as you have six arms, four legs and three brains!
@@MrBrunoUSA 😂
Ok, we get it. It's not the one from Star Wars. But can someone get him to play the one from Star Wars?
Dude this is way better.
I find your lack of faith disturbing
Nah sorry it ain't anywhere close bad, but the one from Star Wars is by far better.
I’ll ask next time I see him. 😂
Wanna maker noise?
This sounds nothing like it did in Empire Strikes Back.
Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I feel every organist should be forced to begin every performance with toccata and fugue in d minor.
That was awful! Not what I was hoping for!
