I agree. The Seydel valves are excellent. Hohner is next. I did eventually have to clean the valves but I've only had to do this once since I've owned it.

I hope Seydel have improved how they attach their valves, i own a Saxony & Orchestral, all the valves started falling out after a year! Meanwhile my Suzuki continues to give all round great service.

I have three valved harmonicas from Seydel. Never had a valve fall off. The oldest one I have had for 4 years. Haven't tried Suzuki yet, would love to get one with wooden cover!

The valves on my Symphony48 need attention every few weeks as they start to flop and buzz. Recently, one fell off while I was cleaning the valves. That's the first time - and it's been two years since I have the harmonica.

That is completely opposite to my experience. I have had very little problems with both my Symphony and now my Deluxe Steel. At some point all valves must be cleaned or changed, but they have both held up very well!

Sounds fine but why not an Easttop valveless as a walking around chromatic?
That seydel costs about $175 US
I have an Easttop valveless that costs about $30 US and works well

I have both and agree that the Easttop is an excellent harmonica in general and specifically for carying around. Valveless is cool, but personally I find that a valved chromatic offer more expression. So why pay 150$ more for a Seydel? Comparing the two the Seydel feels much better in the hand. It feels like a solid instrument that is well built, the Easttop feels more fragile. The fine tuning of the Seydel is much better than the Easttop. Another last aspect is tone, but it's not really a question of which is better. Easttop is Phosphor Bronze while Seydel is Stainless Steel. Two different sounds, I like both.

I wonder if another company is going to try to improve on the valveless approach after seeing how well received the forerunner has been. Better reeds alone would probably make a decent difference.

All I know is that mine make a loud flapping noise on the three lowest holes and it came that way. Any idea what it is? I warm it up, but still, flapping.....

Could be the valves or reeds hitting the cover. You can try to clean the valves to see if it helps. If it's the reeds hitting the cover you should contact Seydel, that is not supposed to happen.

Thank you. I'll try to clean the valves. I don't think it's the reeds hitting the cover plates as I imagine that would make more of a metallic sound. the sound it makes now is like fluttering wings, but loud enough for others to hear. Thanks again for the advice@@woelneberg

@@fuckbored4724 That does not sound right at all. I suspect cleaning won't be enough either. You better reach out to Seydel. Open up the harmonica to inspect the reeds. Do they look alright?
