Me and high rise are at the metrocentre right now and they're working on it, they've dismantled the car and installed rails, new shaft lights and I think the counterweight
I will really miss this lift! Shame it's getting replaced but at least by a MonoSpace/EcoDisc. It sounds like the one in operation is starting to grind the tracks not just squeak Also me and High Rise was here at the same time! lol
Yeah I will miss it too! I never really liked the modded one that is still there for now as the DMG buttons are cheap and I don't really like the voice but I did like the other one that was still Thyssenkrupp so I will miss that! The new one though I think will be quite good as almost all Kone lifts are. Yeah the one still there is sounding very bad now, a huge decline since I was last there a few months ago. They have probably stopped maintaining it as i'm sure it will be gone soon. Interesting that you were there too! Shame I didn't bump into you as that would have been good! I was there about 7:45pm.
Yeah I agree that would be why. They should have just replaced this one instead of doing the mod yeah because the mod has only been in for about 3 years so not long at all. It would have been better to just replace it rather than mod and then replace not long after.

Yeah I know what you mean. I think Kone were given this job but it was only a very basic and cheap modernisation so they just used generic equipment which loads of generic companies use. The new lift though, I think will be proper Kone with proper Kone parts and not generic!
UPDATE: The other older lift has now began to get modernised and boards have been put up around the doors on both floors.

I went again today (16th) and engineers were working on it. It looked like the lift car was in place and they were installing cables.

they probaobly didnt replace it first because it had just been modded, anyway they shouldve replaced that one instead of modding it.

Yes they were. Both Now 2022 Kone Monospace.
