This is such a well edited video! Love the gameplay overlays to help visualize your review. It's interesting you don't see it as an Everdell plus - I don't think WC is that much more complex rule wise, but I think a lot of the tradeoffs introduced (get a card or resource, play a card for effect or to win achievement, take lower achievement faster or higher achievement for more points) makes it much crunchier than Everdell.
Amazing video! As a film sound designer myself, I really appreciate the extra work you put in to your sound design! One thing is I think there’s some sort of framerate issue with the video? It’s a little jittery I think
This looks great! I can't remember why I chose not to back this... perhaps high shipping? I'm definitely interested in giving this one a try, especially since I haven't yet played Everdell.
Everdell really is great as well. I just got done playing this tonight and like it more each time I play it. I found some really fun combos tonight that really racked up the points.
Somehow missed this video a couple weeks ago but had to watch after seeimg your Creature Caravan review. I do like Everdell, but this does look cooler 🎶
As an everdell and expansions owner. I'm glad I held off on this as I don't want a ton of overlap in my collection and I haven't played Everdell enough to sell it for something fresh.
Sounds like a game I would like. Have to admit I feel a bit down with so much resemblance there is with Everdell (cards), but like the difference with the 'creature' placement. Question:, how many creature (worlers) do you start with? And when do you get them back?
you always have three and you spend and action to retrieve them, this activates all cards of a certain type as an income of sorts and more an hourglass on a track which clears the market and gives you more nets. While you don't get more workers there are many more possible rounds of placements depending on how fast the goals are achieved. There is a ton to do with the cards that give you more resources so alot of the time placing the crew members (workers) is just the beginning. Then you start playing cards that spirals in to more resources and cards which allows you to play more cards then you complete goals with give you more bonuses that might allow you to play even more cards. Its wonderful.
Found your channel bc of my deep hate of everdell for being too uncool and thematically is meh. Ive watched some other vids already. Love the vibe. Keep it up. You have a new sub
The dicetower had an issue with game length (slightly overstaying its welcome), non-issue for yourself? I like the restrictions in Everdell but the worker placement really is boring and the variable game end (one person is done and the other takes another 15 actions) is not great. However the worldbuilding is soooo good in Everdell I doubt it can ever be surpassed. Alas I'll have to buy WC and see for myself
Game length is an issue if you play it only a couple times and have to read every card. This is a non issue once you know the game. It was an hour for 2 players last night. The better you get at it the faster you will complete the achievements as well.
Yeah lots of players who have this are already saying the length is fine. You have to try it yourself. But if you do find it too long just remove a trophy or two no big deal.
Hummm. This gives me TM vs Ark Nova vibes. TM and Ark Nova are 6/10 and 10/10, respectively. Everdell is 6/10 for me, but WC looks (usability) much cleaner and better, and the mechanisms seem to be better as well. I don't think it has 10/10 potential, but 8/10 would be a win for me.
@@BoardGameParadice that's factual. Can't argue there! Even in the boardgame universe they are quite different gameplay-wise, but everyone has compared them since the beginning of time.
yeah I got a tinge of Ark Nova but not enough to mention it. This is definitely not a 10 in my mind. In a world where I had to rank games not using a 7 (a fun little activity) I would give it an 8 at this point.
If you Everdell with expansion maybe but base for base this is heavier....not by a ton but the decision space is slightly more complicated. I think it has a 3.00 weight on BGG vs 2.82 for Everdell.
I like Everdell not only for the beautiful illustrations and immersive World, but also about the puzzle of only 15 cards allowed and the feeling of really really not wanting to place a precious worker. I like the Newleaf expansion for the freedom of playing card after card after card, getting around the 15 card limit, but I LOVE Spirecrest for even more restrictions than the base game has. So I don’t think, I need a „cooler“ Everdell.
That's some great production but it just seems way too similar to Everdell for me to be interested. I'm at that point in my collection where games have to stand out from their genre for me to be tempted to pick them up. Still those magnets are very sharp
I do think this has a very specific feeling distinct from Everdell. The more I play the more I find more combos and get bigger and bigger turns. Like I said it is a feeling of limitless potential rather than a contained tight puzzle, worth a play if you come across it in the wild somewhere.
55 seconds in and the magnet montage has already has me needing this game!!! Who could possibly resist that!
I just saw the crew expansion and the meeple so am missing has me needing to get the expansions.

@@Sreehammer thank you!
I felt just the same when I play it, this is a cooler Everdell, I feel I have more options and the combos feel more satisfying
@@Jebusito more satisfying is a better way to put it.
Great video. New subscriber. I like the subtle jazz music in the back. I have “Wondrous Creatures” but have yet to play it.

The magnetic meeples are gorgeous
Yeah pretty cool idea

Try it if you can, I think it might me a sleeper...I hope for Bad comets sake it gets some hype as it hits retail.

So glad you enjoyed it🥰

they don't have to be the same to make a comparison. All three games deal with tags that interact with other mechanics throughout the game.
Eggs float if they go bad haha! Oh You pulled up a video. LOL 'air' gets in nahhh, sulferic gases make it float haha

No one outgrows everdell. Everdell outgrows you.
