Its been said that FIB is a copy of RIB why? as he explained RIB use CPU as component but we are trying to give less work to the CPU thats why the third switching mechanism was invented (CEF) now with CEF we got the FIB which works on the data plane so FIB only takes some usefull information from the RIB, why? because we dont want to use the CPU son whenever any packet comes into the router the router uses FIB cache which is a copy of the RIB. Hope that makes sence, he explained very well in the video.
