    I spent 20 years in the USAF. This wasn’t a promotion. It was an honorarium. The ceremonial “rope” in this case was awarded to show recognition of doing a good job as a “Flight Leader” in Technical school. The person receiving the Yellow Rope was there to attend school just like the others he was inspecting. When he graduates, the rope comes off and gets returned to the Staff Sergeant that awarded it. As I said, not really a promotion, but cause for congratulations for doing an outstanding job.

    Not being disrespectful, I'm an German guard so I like ,,inspecting" and comparing different countries drill since it's mostly based on ours so it's cool to see the similarities. So like my critic or just question I don't know obviously.
    Is that look slight face to the ground correct? We're supposed to raise our head lightly, push out the breast and pull in the stomach and tense all muscles. This looks more replaxed but is it the bad performing or did they do good an it's just regulated like that? Also kinda cool to see the huge difference in fall in and fall out. In our way we run into formation and fix the lines on our own then left to right everyone counts and while doing it jumps into eyes front and ease. For an ,,normal" fall out we do an high step to the front and are free to go. The ceremonial fall out is runing away as fast as possible together. Also the caps, we do wear them with the visor two fingers above the eyebrown if to low we'll get disciplined. Also what do those cords mean? Wtf is that text long wtf did the army do to me

      The ropes are Airmen leaders. They promote from green rope, yellow to red. In a squad there will only be one red in charge of the other yellow and green ropes. They should lead by example and be top performers in their squadron and technical school.
      I once had the honor of becoming a red rope myself.

    I was stuck being a dorm chief during basic and decided not to be a rope in my 2 tech schools as I didn't want to babysit anyone . I had more fun. But, more power to you if that's what you liked. I ended up serving 22 years, retiring in 2004.

    We had a short dorm chief in Basic, always sounding off! I was in charge of the laundry for the first two weeks, and it was one of the only things I heard before basic that was true, laundry got you out of so much stuff! Night classes. Safety codes, etc... So two weeks into Basic (circa 1973) I was told to REPORT to the TI. That meant knock on the door frame, march in and square up in front of the TI's desk, and say "Airman Basic My-ass-is-grass, reporting as ordered. I was told the dorm chief and two squad leaders were being demoted and I was to be a squad leader for one dorm squad and one marching squad, not the same squad. That made no sense and I liked being in the laundry, and said so! I had to keep from laughing, and I think the TI did too, as he told me "Did I ask what you wanted to do? It went on for a while and I became a dual squad leader until graduation. Got to tech school and they ask who had been a squad or dorm chiefs in basic. I was told NOT to raise my hand! I listened again. Next day the squadron red rope asked to talk to me. NOT REPORT! I walked in, and asked what I could do for him? Same speech, different day! Turned out my specialty wouldn't allow me to take on outside duties! So I learned to play golf in north Texas in the winter and early spring and went on to a short 4 years as a medical person. The rest is history!

    My father was Air Force and Navy, my grandfather Air Force, all my Uncle's (my dad's bothers) Air Force (5 in total). I have cousins in the Marines, Air Force, and Navy. The lack of respect for ANY branch of service is absolutely disgusting and you should be ashamed for even thinking the words you've typed! Each branch serves a purpose, and each branch helps the other achieve goals to protect our country to the best of their ability. Not one single person could do the job of all the men and women who train, give up a "normal" life, who risk their lives, who fight to protect yours and who have died doing so. I've heard a lot of cowards talk a big game they could NEVER back up. Anyone willing to speak ill of our military, you are cowards that couldn't muster the balls to do half of what they do. If you don't feel you can respect them then keep moving past these videos without your ignorant comments! If you think you can do better than they can, prove it and until that time comes keep your mouth shut, don't disrespect my family and friends or others family and friends who do more in a day than most of your sorry asses do in a lifetime! To all the men and women that serve our country, I really wish there were better words to express my gratitude and respect, for now I'd like to thank you! Thank you to all those who have, do and will serve in our military! God Bless and stay safe! I'm a very proud daughter of a man who fought right up to the day he died!

Why did the guy at the end "break his ankles" when doing facing movements? Why did the inspecting NCOs(?) waddle like penguins during the inspection, rather than doing the proper facing movements? Yes, we only had "Ropes" in Tech school. Green is for lowest "Student Leader", a hall of students perhaps, Yellow is for the whole floor. Ours had 4 halls. Red Rope is for the Whole building. Blue rope is the actual School leaders. It was good stuff for growing leaders; but only applied in the dorms outside of the school setting.

    • @DickHertz0
      @DickHertz0 6 лет назад +3

      Noah Ward actually the Navy has significant air power as well. Not to mention that naval aviation is easily forward deployable due to the flexibility of aircraft carriers in the sea. The other branches also have their own breed of dominance in the sky. The Airforce doesnt have the only "force in the air" is what I'm saying.
