Thank you so much for all your videos. I just successfully replaced the forks on our focus, all with just two jackstands, two floor jacks, and a 2x4 & ratchet strap as a hoist. Your videos played a huge role in that. Me and the wife have been talking about buying one next year to try and fix n flip since we see some here and there for pretty cheap like you said. Perfectly timed video as I'm in the 'Am I an idiot. What could go wrong.' phase of the idea.
@ 3:36, there are actually five grounds: two under the air box and two under the battery box. Those four are on the top of the frame. Number 5 is on the firewall on the right side of the battery. Disconnect the battery, remove them, sand them to bare metal, and cover everything with die electrical grease. :)
Another Great Video Ben thanks!!! I live in VA and I actually called the office in richmond and we're allowed to do 5 cars a year without a dealer's license.
Hi Ben 2013 focus low mileage 87k in great condition bought the car for 1500 about 8 months ago with 61k miles it had transmission issues but I've managed to still drive it to work but now it's getting the transmission hot a couple of times and a couple of no starts don't really want to sell it. It has 1st 3rd and 5th no reverse. Thanks for your information.
Fukkus are good cars if you take care or them. They don't get flipped over as often like a SUV in a wreck. They are great in the snow and ice. The timing covers leak, plastic coolant lines break and leak into the bell housing. That will rust up your forks and clutch. Shudder like a mudder. Drain and refill the trans at 100k. Check for previous battery leaks. Acid gets into the TCM. Fix them all day for 2k.
Thank you Ben, I'm about to enter the realm of my 2012 Ford Focus love the vehicle beautiful car beautiful interior currently fighting with the dealership they refused ownership for the flaws on this LOL I remember going through the same thing when I work for General Motors Capitol Chevy out of Olympia Washington any issues with all the cars and boy how funny those days were when they refused to own their own pre-existing conditions love what you're doing Ben thank you keep it up stay safe
@d1ablofromtx not yet. You don't have to pull the subframe just pull the engine forward with the mount removed, use a jack to support the engine. Pull the manifold studs and cowl off for clearance
Thanks for all your content!!!Can you buy just the oem clutch forks and slave cylinder (center bearing)? I've found a ton of cheap Chinese ones on ebay/ Amazon but the only Luk that I've found is the complete kit with the clutch pack.
The junkyards near me sell these transmissions for $1000-$1500. I try to buy core transmissions and hope it just needs a clutch and forks. My last flip I bought 3 core transmissions before I got a good one. One had a noisy synchro. One had bad differential bearing and one had a bad input shaft bearing. As these cars age I think we are more likely to buy a flip that might need more than just a LUK rep set and maybe a TCM.
Luckily they had a good trans case and TCM so I can sell that to get my money back. The last core I bought for $150 and was able to drive it before I bought it. It just had a sticky fork and a worn out dual clutch/ no bearing or synchro noises. Thank God!!
Thank you for your reply! I have a 2016 Focus Ecoboost as my primary, first and only vehicle. Your videos have been very helpful in getting "car literate" as a first time car owner! Keep up the great work, you are helping many like me
Hi, Thank you for al of yours videos, also I would like to ask about tcm calibration, you mentioned we should keep the tcm with the same tranny, but I bought just a tcm from marketplace without knowing what year transmission it came out of, or could have been a fiesta, any videos on the procedure to calibrate it to the year I plan on installing it? Thank you
hi! some calibrations will work on other year models, it may be worth trying without programming. just do a clutch adaptive learn. if you have strange or firm shifts, you can have ford program "as-built" data into it for a decent price. I don't have a video on how to program one with forscan, but this guy does: ruclips.net/video/7m20901XR7c/видео.htmlsi=oM9g1_Nb-QS_QjRC
Hi Ben, love you videos! I am doing a clutch job on my latest focus flip and bought a LUK clutch kit. The problem is the white adhesive on slave cylinder has apparently not set and the bottom ring attached with the tabs and slides around. I wannted to confirm that is not normal? Thanks so much!
Would the tcm give any issues for not being able to complete the transmission learning? I replaced actuators & checked splines. Lost reverse and 6th gear. Was thinking maybe a fork/thrust bearing?
Problem is the Ford TCM's are on backorder. This past summer I would have happily paid you 2 grand to fix mine IF you could've found a late transmission and TCM. I would've paid for parts, maybe even flew you out here to do the work (no dealer accusations possible then).
I have a 2013 ford focus hatchback and when I accelerate at times it have a scraping noise that sharp what can I do to stop it from doing that without buying a whole new transmission

Have you done a video on replacing the catalytic converter?

@LuisAguado-k7e glad they helped! You can add the term "oem" when looking for the parts on ebay and you'll find it.

@scottjacoby8301 that's a good point. Perhaps one of these days we'll see more affordable options for the synchronizers and I'll do a video for that
amazing video, can you please answer if all this is applicable to the EcoBoost variant as well? thanks in advance.
@anizmo hi! With the ecoboost 1.0 I'd say no. Unless you can find a deal on an engine and turbo. That's what's gonna fail on those

@rev9921 hi, that small part on thr bottom is supposed to move a little, and the 2 clips keep it from moving too much or falling off

What fault codes do you have

What can I do
To do the transmisson learn i need a obd code reader dont i?
@boriskvachski6645 yeah forscan is free for 3 months though, but you need an interface for 30 to 50 bucks.
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles thank you so much that saves me hundreds of dollars getting it sent somewhere to get it done
