Honestly this is nothing new, been going on for a long time. And not just from Amazon either, people will try and return stuff like this anywhere they think people won't check it. Ive run into this crap at the auto parts store, guy brings the part out, open the box and its a old used part in there.

I'm sure they keep track of returns linked to your account. If they suspect you're doing malicious returns they'll start refusing to take em. So unless if your making new accounts or using prepaid debit cards youll probably be able to return a few items before they flag you

The lens he got in the last box is worth over 1600$ on eBay, even used. If he wants to make money and triple his profit he can just sell that and keep the rest of the stuff to himself, so quit talking nonsense.
Something tells me Amazon (or the seller) would have to return that lens to the manufacture. The guy likely put that in there himself. I mean $1600 isn't pocket change.

Hey dude, for people returning empty disc cases, you never know. It may be rare as hell, but sometimes there just isn't the actual disc inside, even though it is straight from the factory, sealed and all. Happened to me once with a Back to the Future steelbook. Never returned it though

First off I like these videos! But why do you call it "mystery tech"? That liquidation site puts an entire manifest for each listing right on each page...? Do you just avoid the manifest intentionally to build the drama for the videos?

@@CaptainQuick they are returns. So to the seller, most of this stuff may or may not work. They dont test it. They just throw it in a box. Now, they get the value of the boxes just by looking at the items. Again, everything is sold as is. So not everything is guaranteed to work.
The mystery boxes would make for an interesting birthday or Christmas gift idea 😅😂

Let me try to clarify things for people wondering why does Amazon allow people to return stuff they bought and sent back with their old stuff inside.
Amazon can't feasibly check everything and most likely only the very top dollar and easy to check merchandise will get tested. I mean take for example the toners, can you really imagine them having a test bench with one of each toner printer for every type of cartridge sold? That will easily eat up at least a quarter of a bigger warehouse. The lens is another good example, a average worker will not have the knowledge to test it or have the hardware available to him to test it. Amazon will not just open packages of sony dslr cameras to test the returned lens because that's just putting out a fire with gasoline financially. They are big enough that they just CANNOT care, because it would be illogical to. Only the very top dollar merchandise may be sent to the manufacturer for a repair instead of issuing a return but that is debatable on the type of sale contract Amazon has with the manufacturer.
Its basically in the cost of doing business. Spend a few million to make billions.

Let me clarify something, they do actually check most returns but most of the time they are both overwhelmed by the inflow and also lack the time capacity to thoroughly investigate everything. I highly doubt they have their own set of codes since in the first place every merchandise or any actual worth already has product codes (or serial numbers unique to the device or merchandise) for a long time now. I mean why haven't they already enforced it with the already available codes.That would imply either applying them to high value merchandise or opening the packages and sticking it somewhere inside, and nobody wants to buy something preopened. If you make a claim that you received the package with the wrong merchandise inside/ or defective they can't do much about it , they can't prove anything most of the times and won't even try in the majority of cases because "the customer is always right ". They may have had the capacity to check everything when they were upstarts , but now Amazon is so big that even the simplest of things may be unachievable due to either manpower, financial feasibility, time or logistical reasons. It's just simpler to check something summarily and just accept it as it is.
Actually really enjoying the SN 30 pro controller. They feel super solid and work really well on the switch.

I watched another youtuber who did this and they showed the shipping and it was like 300 dollars because of the weight and volume. He definitely doesn't include the shipping price.
The shipping price is not added. Shipping is usually 200+ depending on weight and what not....UNLESS like some people if the seller is near where you live you can usually pick it up from them yourself. The 400+ he paid does not include shipping. Go check the sites yourself. Great way to learn what is not included in the videos. Almost all of the liquidation lots you can buy come with full lists of what comes in the boxes. Its usually not a mystery unless they have someone else purchase and or dont look at the list at all. They even provide you with shipping cost if not right there on the listing or if you click buy and checkout and it will give you shipping cost
There is also no way he actually paid 490. Most of the auctions on that site with msrps of 2200$ are going for 400-600$ at the moment. The more expensive ones are going for 1000 or more. I imagine most of the profit he is making is from posting the video, not spending money on boxes of stuff he then has to try and resell.

I've watched a few of these types of vids, lately and title reads something like ( I paid $450 for $4500 worth of electrical tech from amazon ) they usually add Ps4 and Xbox logos on the thumbnail but every vid of this kind that I've watched, has all been trash items. I don't even care about it seeming misleading I just get excited like a little kid at Christmas and am left almost in tears like many kids that didn't get that great Xmas gift. I'm just confused because I don't think amazon would lie about the worth of the items but when these guys unbox $4000 of tech, it seems like the value is nowhere near that. Have you ever seen any of these types of vids where they get good items? Ps4 I pad laptop ect? Just seems like these guys are wasting their cash. I'll be honest. A lot of these videos, I feel like most of these mystery tech boxes are junk. I wouldn't pay $100 for all these boxes. You'll end up with a place with basically junk tech.
