If Traegar put as much effort in to fixing the issues with Ironwood that they do with spamming paid reviews online, this thing would be the best smoker out there.
@@amehrban6775 Hi. I had purchased my Ironwood XL right when they released in Feb. and had many issues with the controller, keeping temps, instructions and the burn in. To be fair, Traeger has updated the firmware in the new controllers and it is working MUCH better. I can recommend this smoker now that the firmware appears to be much more stable, the unit keeps temps much better, and it is working well on wifi / app.
We agree, they do get dirty and keep it from heating up sometimes! Here's our Traeger grill cleaning video ruclips.net/video/kA7kyd7G9ns/видео.htmlsi=diTBJz-LEwikOOub
no one talks about smoke. NO ONE. i just bought the Ironwood 885. HOw do you smoke or not smoke? do you turn on/off the auger? If there are pellets loaded does it automatically smoke? How does the entire smoke mechanism work? Not one video on it. Nothing in the manual? Why is this skipped?
Steve Chamberlin hi Steve, I get a wurr sound from the fan and drive system, not so much of a squeal. I would say give it a couple cooks to settle in and if it doesn’t subside, give Traeger a call.
Was about to buy one, but I've been reading too many reviews of this grill that state they can't get the "wifire" to connect. I'd really feel like a fool to pay $1,200 for a product and then get it home and find out I'd paid premium for a non-functioning product.
I haven't had any issues with wifi on any of my WiFire Grills. I use them at home, in our BBQ trailer and even with a jetpack. I know a few people have mentioned they needed a signal booster to have a stronger signal. Double check where your router is in relation to the grill. the closer the better. let me know if I can be of any more help. Chef Jason
Wish I'd seen this video before I bought one! Sure would have helped! It was a hell of a lot better than the guy that sold it to me! I guess that makes me a bad consumer!
Do I put my grill to 350 for 20 mins and 500 for 30 mins only for the first fire up or everytime I cook? Also if I were to prime the auger and do the 350 and 500 step, do I have to cook right after or even that day?
The initial burn in or seasoning process only has to be done once. you don't need to cook right away after the seasoning process. the seasoning process is to help burn off any stamping lubricant and get the grill ready for your first cook, whenever that is. Happy Cooking, Chef Jason
I’m interested in buying the 650. Have you had any problems holding low or high temps with these? I have read mixed reviews on the Traeger forum. Believe it or not, but our local Ace has the 650 on sale for $999.
Bill Dobberpuhl hi Bill, I haven’t had any issues cooking on the 650 or 885. Make sure to burn it in properly and you should be fine. They are great machines and we use the ironwoods for a ton of our projects. Happy Cooking. Chef Jason
Just bought the Irionwood 885. It's currently cooking the first set of ribs. I seasoned the grill as instructed, and it cannot keep a temp within the set temp to save its life. I set the temp for 225 and one minute it's at 265 and the next it's at 190. I have no idea what's going on with this thing.
Rick Hartsock that’s exactly what I’m afraid of . It’s a lot of money for so so performance. I emailed Traeger and they told me that temperature problems only occur when the owner doesn’t maintain the grill. I have read many people having problems with brand new grills. It’s a shame, I like some of their features but I’m afraid I have read too many negative reviews. I will be going with a Rec Tec.
Hi again guys, I cook on these things thousands of hours a year and don’t have any issues. I wouldn’t let the first cook be the determining factor. It takes a couple cooks for it to settle into a groove. It does on any of my grills. I cook on these things thousands of hours a year. Had 3 Ironwoods going at an event today in Sturgis, cold and windy out and they all held temp great and did an amazing job. Feel free to email me if you have any more questions of if I can answer anything else. Jason@5280culinary.com
@@Dubaidude454 Hi David, just curious how the 885 has been working for you the past couple of years? I am in the process of buying a pellet grill. Trying to figure out what to get.
Aristocob hello, this Grill was only cooked on once, you tend to see the ash on the stainless steel double wall a bit more, until you cook some fatty foods, then it seasons just like the other Traegers. Totally normal and doesn’t affect the food or flavor. Thanks for watching
Nice grill but even in super smoke the amount of smoke is not great. Only time it smokes alot is when first warming up. I will stick with my charcoal smoker
I have a GMG. A lot better grill, with more features and better quality. My father in law has a traeger elite and my GMG is way better for a fraction of the price. I have yet to have someone tell me why traegers are so much more.
OMG SLOOOOOOW down. What's the rush? I was a nervous wreck when it was over. The dialogue/words appeared for 2 seconds and were gone....Most folks are nor speed readers....POOR post...
George Ashmore I’m much slower now with only 1 cup of coffee. We also fixed the on screen to be much longer. Sorry for that. Thanks for watching and happy grilling
Wow that back exhaust is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen!! What if you want it on your patio or deck, anywhere where it’s got it’s back to something just kills everything!! Guess it’s a silverbac!!!
Leonard Martin it’s really a great exhaust system and keep so much blue smoke in the grill. For sure be careful how close you put it to anything. We recommend 24” behind it. Once fully cooled and unplugged, I store mine snug up against my house. Covered too
This guy is such a typical full on american presenter, loud and speaking 100kms an hour. Good information about the bbq's but crikey it's really hard to listen to
perhaps the best Ironwood intro video out there - comprehensive and helpful. Thanks, Chef Jason!
Thanks for watching!
I like your delivery style despite what some other commenters say. Makes for an engaging and good video. Thanks.
Bruno thank you, appreciate it. I dig these grills, makes life exciting. Chef Jason

Great video man. Thanks.
I will be getting my ironwood 885 next month I can’t wait...
Great video, but leave the tips on the screen a little bit longer. Had to pause the video to catch them.
Stevan575 we fixed that on all of the videos we do now. Thanks for watching
Great vid, thanks for the tips. Just had ace Hardware deliver my traeger ironwood 600. Going to try a Christmas ham.
Just ordered mine through my local Ace. Thanks for the video.

Beer can chicken for the win my friend. :-)
I did not know there was a hanging rack for the top rack 🤦♂️ it’s always in my way when I cook at Ace Hardware
the most helpful set of hooks ever. :-). Happy Cooking, Chef Jason
Thanks really helps
Just got the 885 ❤❤❤
Good demo. Would love to get one of these.
Great video, but I don’t know where there’s an Ace Hardware near me. Delray Beach, FL
The Crazy Eddie guy now works at Ace Hardware
Anyone else get a high pitch squeal on the D2 controller? Happened on the burn in yesterday and won’t go away. Fresh out of the box.

How long does a bag of pellets last? Can I do a whole brisket with one bag? How long before those electronics melt or malfunction?

RetiredBadge absolutely, I have 6 Traeger Grills setup in my app and can control as many as I need. Happy Cooking, Chef Jason

about 12-15 minutes to get up to temp of 350˚ or higher. Chef Jason

Can I make carne asada in this grill quickly like in a propane grill? Thank you
JULIO AVILES yes you can, turn it up to 500 degrees and sear it off.
Thank you man

You clearly don't understand how pellet grills work.
When the smoke is white and visible your over smoking. Blue smoke is what you want and it's barely visible.
is it a pid controler ? no did not worth 1200 $
And I just but the timberline..... lol should have waited lol
If Alex Jones did smokers!
This dude is OBNOXIOUS
Traeger, the ultimate old guy pellet grill to make him look cool at the ladies gossip night!
