- Dave Legeno was a man who moved effortlessly between many different worlds.
He was an Enforcer, a Doorman, a Debt collector, gaining respect in a World of tough guys and Villains.
Amazingly at the age of 42 he became a Cage Fighter. Going on to beat Legends Kimo Leopoldo and Dan Severn.
He was an accomplished Actor, with roles in Snatch, Rise of the Footsoldier, Batman Begins, and most famously as Fenir Greyback in two of the popular Harry Potter movies.
A man of many talents Dave would also sing, and write poetry.
An intelligent, kind , caring and sensitive man, contrary to his usual menacing screen presence.
Dave sadly passed away in 2014, in Death Valley USA. And will be missed by all of those that knew him.

I remember watching big Dave fight UFC ref Herb Dean....Dave battered him and Herb quit on his stool. Seen him in films as well. A proper renaissance man.
That's right 👊🥊
Great vid as usual Matt
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Howdy Matt, love your work! Would be great if you could do a video on former convict, power lifter, one time mma fighter, wrestler and now actor the giant Aussie hard man Nathan Jones.
sad story seems a gen guy great content math
Thank you 👍
There's definitely not been many characters like dave been born ! Gone way to soon ! Rip Dave mate ! 🙏🥊 Have a great weekend Matt ! Cheers for talking about Dave ! 👍👊🥊
Thank you Paul 👍🥊
I remember you bringing Dave over and introducing t me in that night club, I was surprised at the size of the fella he even towered over you, a nice guy, down to earth
That's right mate. He was a unit 👊🥊
@@mattlegg1976huge guy saw him in Snatch.
Rest in peace Dave.
The correlation between doorman who progress into a life of crime is staggering.
Always seen it as a stepping stone to better earners.
I would discourage any son of mine if I had one on doing the doors. Been there , done it for 20 years and very happy to sit in at the weekends now with my daughters and get the feet up.
All the best Matt. Really enjoyed this one !
couldnt agree more. was a doorman for 25 years and last thing i would want my son doing. though he wants to be a copper. fair dinkum.
Not as big as the criminals who end up in the movie business ;)
He was only in the brilliant film 'Outlaw' for less than 5 mins, but he was electric on screen. The camera loved him. A natural. And having your FIRST mma fight at 42?! The man was built differently! R.I.P.
Well said. Totally agree with you 🥊👍
I wondered when you’d get round to Dave , especially as I mentioned on a recent video that you’re a dead ringer for him !! What a sad end to a top bloke
Hi Matt, good video shame about what happened RiP , you and Dave look a little similar i think ,sorry for the loss of your mate ,good content as always mate 👊🥊🖤
Thank you Sean 👊🥊
Love your work Matt. Can I suggest you profile Michael Bisping? He has lived an incredible life so far. You mentioned Mark Epstein here, Bisping beat him twice I think. He single-handedly carried the hopes of English mma on his back and became the UFC champion. Never complained about all the shit he must have gone though with his eye...eventually having it taken out! Beat Anderson Silva, the GOAT, and won the belt after that as well!! TRUE GRIT. Heart of a lion 👊
Well said. And he fought with one eye at the end , if I remember correctly.
I bumped in to him at the Lenny McLean film Premier.
As he played Roy Shaw if I remember.
👍🥊
Definitely gone way too soon! He was good in Snatch it's one the best films ever made, such a shame we won't get to see him in more roles.
R.I.P Dave.
" That sounds like hostility doesn't it John ".. - ' And we don't like hostility, do we Erroll '...
- " No We don't John " // Another Great One Mr. Legg.
Sorry for your loss. May he Rest In Peace.. Stay Blessed Sir.
What a small world Matt. He was a friend of mine and what a great loss that he has gone.
I was the other guy with him who got shot in the boat on Serious and organised. Also worked on the Batman with him.
He also passed a Door onto me down in Swanley.
I was at the Mark Epstein fight.
R.I.P Dave. 🙏🏻
Ah really. Thank you for the message. It's nice to hear from other friends of his.
A big loss and he's really missed 👊🥊
Was that Deja Vu club? Is a premier Inn and gastropub now
@@mattlegg1976 yes I also did another series where I was in a cage fight with his mate. I used to work on the doors in Gravesend. I work with Dave York who taught Lenny Maclean and Alan Crosby worked around the corner on the Grove Club a few years before I started with a guy they called Twitcher.
I am a Stunt Coordinator now and left that work behind. Some mad fun times which was a means to an end. Great channel. Keep up the good content 🙏🏻
@@FirearmsGunGear No it was not actually a pub or club. It was something else that needed security. Only one guy to check the punters and open the door.

what a life he lived 💪💪 great upload Matt 👊
Always had screen presence, 🥊💥💪
Definitely 🥊👍
wow what a character , he's had a colourful life RIP dave
This one and Alan Crossley have been my favourites Matt!
Ah really. Brilliant. Thank you very much 🥊👊
Amazing, talented guy. This was a great and eye-opening watch. Must have tugged on a few heartstrings for you to make this. Brothers, indeed.
Thank you. It did indeed.
Especially the end tribute 👍🥊
Dave could sing...sounded like Bruce Springsteen, and he could act aswel didn't look out of place on screen. Talented man.
I wonder why he walked into the desert, maybe things got to much for him. R.I.P.
He was very talented 🥊👍
He took water with him so you can forget about suicide because this guy appears to be no coward.
@@maratonlegendelenemirei3352 but I thought Matt said he didn't take enough water with him, if I've got that wrong my apologies.
At 1:52 is that the MMA ref Herb Dean behind Dave? Looks like him.
He would have been good doing podcasts like urself
Wow, sounds like Springsteen, obviously a multi-talented man! I had never heard of this gentleman before, most interesting
He had a good gravelly voice, a bit more upbeat rock n roll song wdve suited Dave.
Its great how you keep daves life alive matt. Another great video take care and keep it coming R I P Dave Legano what a life❤
Lovely, personal tribute Matt. I can feel your admiration & sorrow at losing your friend. Thank you. R.I.P Dave.
100% you're right.
I wasn't sure whether to make it personal, but it was impossible not too.
Thank you for the message 👊🥊
Always quality Matt and that includes yourself mate.
They say," the good die young"and clearly Dave was one of those Gentlemen. RIP. 🙏.🥊
1st mma fight at 42 is nuts. Must have been some boy.
Exactly what I thought 👍🥊
great video matt. Dave was certainly a talented man..may he rest in peace 🙏🥊🥊

awesome content again matt ......
Thank you very much 🥊👍
@@mattlegg1976 if youre in south wales let me know 👍
First time I heard of Dave was in Stop the Ride too....great video Matt!
That's right. I remember it vividly 👍🥊
Matt , all due respect to Dave it was a really sad loss and I never understood why he walked that Death Valley , I don’t want to spread crap but do you think he purposely walked into Death Valley knowing he wasn’t coming back , because I didn’t think he was in that frame of mind , great video mate get Kev back on 👍
Hi mate, that is definitely a possibility. Very sad to think it, but it may have been.
Yeah I'm with Kev Lane soon 👍🥊
No wonder you 2 got mistaken for brothers. He is like your dopelhanger.
Matt, you have some life story mate.
By far the best content on RUclips.
Love it and thanks. 10/10
Thank you very much.
Its not so much me, but the variety of people , that I'm lucky enough to have met, that are the interesting ones, lol
Nice one mate
Thank you 🥊👍
What a brilliant podcast Matt 🤙 you do look like brothers to be honest and what a big loss of Dave in America 🙏
Great insight Matt into Dave Legano. Good voice as well. Big guy whom shows a great side with the poetry etc , i didnt realise he had been in so many TV and movies , the man looks a prescence full stop not just on screen. PS if i may say , you dont and didnt let anyone down you are a true Gent
so sorry spelling - Dave Legeno
Nice one Pete, I really appreciate what you said there 👍🥊
What a very talented man, , and yes the resemblance is uncanny. Shame he ended his life with a stupid decision like that. Great video Matt👍
Nice one Jason. 🥊
Ah what a brilliant video, thoroughly enjoyed it.Wouldn’t have known Dave’s name but always thought he played a good realistic villain,😄,great actor and seemed proper old school, great tribute to him this is Matt,👍
Nice tribute Matt👍
Ah man dave will be sadly missed. I can't belive what happened to him. Theres something not right about la la land.
He's definitely missed 🥊👊
@@mattlegg1976 yeah I used to work with dave on the films. It was a real shock. One of the most genuine lovely people you'll ever meet.
@@aionphriend by any chance, do you know where he was buried or cremated
Small world man! Dave certainly had an interesting career. I knew I recognized him from somewhere outside of film! Speaking of Lock Stock and Snatch, did you ever do any stories on Vinny?
He really did have an interesting life.
No I haven't done one on Vinny Jones yet.
I have a got a good angle for that one .
Thank you for the message 🥊👊
He seemed similar to fighter Evan Tanner. Both seemed to yearn to live lives beyond the trappings of that which they were primarily known for and both ultimately opted to take what many consider to be an excessive risk in entering these extreme inhospitable environments by themselves leading to their passing.
I can't help but think that nobody would simply choose to enter a barren and dangerous wasteland with no real supplies so I wonder (without any intention to cause upset) if they in fact knew precisely what they were doing when they did it.
Rest in peace both Dave Legeno and Evan Tanner.
No matter how hard or how dangerous a man there’s always going to be someone who will take them on to be known as the hardest toughest man. Hardest men I have ever met are the most polite gentleman I have ever met just as you are Matt another great video.
Who’s never been beat ? Only a few I can name.
Thank you Matty. I agree with that. The ones who are truly confident don't bully or start fights I believe.
🥊👊👍
Tonga and Gary Spiers might be two 🥊👍
@@mattlegg1976 Any one who knows boxing and its dedication needed to be in fitness best ever shape. then to get in the ring with a gold medalist top rated prospect at wembley has more bottle than most men will ever have.
Lovely story mate, you totally look like brothers! We can't punish ourselves for not making that call. I was meant to call on mate once didn't make it found out he'd topped himself on that day!! Felt like shit for years, what if I'd made it round. The games we play with our heads! Much love mate.
Great tribute Matt ... i always remember that scene from snatch
Thank you Mike 🥊
Are you putting out a video on your thoughts of Dave Courtney's passing?
Oddly enough, the first time we watched Snatch, and Dave appeared on screen, our kid said to me, "isnt that the lad who outpointed Boothy at the York Hall?" 😂
Nice one, Matt, a great tribute to a good bloke who you obviously held in high regard. 💜
Ah really 🤣 Which was me back in 2002 I think.
Nice one 🥊👊💙
It was an excellent win that, Matt. Tony's record was deceptive, he'd been overmatched through the early part of his pro career, and he was a tough, very fit lad who knew his way round the ring.
Much love Matt…another amazing insight and a sad loss of a truly multitalented individual…🙏😔… Love your vids mate…🤜🤛
Use to follow Dave in the Cage Rage days and met him at a film comic con not gonna lie he looked very intimidating and imposing but when i got chatting to him he was very chilled and relaxed had a laugh with him talking about films and mma but wheni heard he had passed couldn't believe it God Bless him🙏🏻
Thats him exactly, nice one 👍🥊
God rest his soul. God bless
I was lucky enough to meet and spar with Dave on a number of occasions. Lovely fella.

Very talented gifted guy sad he went so young. Great insight video once again Matt.. Well done 🥊
Say your prayers!!!
I had a snort/laugh at that!!

I thought l knew his face & when you brought up Snatch... the penny dropped.
Obviously a man who cd turn his mind to anything & reach a decent level at em all.
So certainly not a stupid man....
Which is why l cdnt wrap my head around him heading out into an inhospitable area, without sufficient water etc.
Ill leave it at l hope it was quick... heatstroke & dehydration can be awful.
