Correction: Technically ending a combo with Gran's Light Fireball isn't actually "safe" but it pushes you far away enough to mostly be safe. In the corner, you wont get pushed back as much so use Medium Fireball instead. Just thought I'd clarify.
I think it's important to briefly mention why anti airs work in FGs. Most dedicated anti air moves don't just hit high, they have some amount of upper body invincibility. This was a big blocker for me because I just couldn't understand why some of my high hitting moves were losing to air moves, while others don't. It made learning really awkward because I couldn't process what I was seeing visually with what was actually happening.
Probably the best guide for beginners in 2D fighters I have ever seen. Simple, direct, no fuzz, no big words, effective and clear. Just awesome! What I would have given to get something like this 20 years ago... Insta subscribed, and I will recommend your channel to all the beginners I know.

Great video! It's always nice to look at the fundamentals from scratch. Love the idea of creating a mock neutral scenario to go over concepts such as whiff punish and anti air buttons!
Actually great guide, it is interesting to listen and see the ammount of things as veteran players we take for granted or know. Plus the fact that fighting games are social experience is key, there is a lot of gamers out there that said they dont like fighting games, and of course they do, if you play against AI it is a completly different and more boring experience.
Yeah, since she doesn't have one, you don't want to let them shoot fireballs much. You wanna make your way in to pressure them. Jumping over fireballs or walking then blocking them, are a couple ways to do that. There also might be a way to use luminiera preemptively to stop them from shooting but idk its pretty slow. But I'm no Vira player, so there might be other ways too!

Good point! Yeah, it's hard to know which moves have air invul because unless you know to look for it, you wouldn't even know it's there.
