  • In this video, I take you through my process of trimming horse hooves using a grinder. It’s a practical demonstration filmed right here on my farm, where I combine my knowledge of farriery with modern tools to maintain the hooves of my horses. This time, I’m using a corded grinder-though a bit more cumbersome than the cordless version, it gets the job done with precision and care.
I share insights on how to safely use a grinder for hoof trimming, emphasizing the importance of working in loose dirt to avoid any accidents with the cord, especially when working around steel shoes. You'll see how I desensitize my horses to the sensations and sounds of the grinder, ensuring they remain calm and comfortable throughout the process.
The video also highlights the importance of proper education in farriery or barefoot trimming before attempting this method. My goal is to illustrate the effectiveness of grinder trimming while offering tips on how to introduce this tool to horses that have never experienced it before.
Towards the end, I also introduce you to my young filly, Gracie, and demonstrate how I handle her hooves with the same method, ensuring they remain healthy and well-maintained.
This video is not just about trimming hooves-it's about refining my skills as a filmmaker and sharing my journey with you. Whether you're a horse owner looking to learn more about hoof care or simply interested in the process, this video offers valuable insights into modern horse care practices.
